The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and jerked, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was diagnosed by roadside assistance as a failure with the alternator. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed as it was confirmed that the alternator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The dealer was not contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,499.

My car running normal up to yesterday, I went to whole foods and when I was going to turn it on the car completely out of power (battery) I went to autozone and the battery and alternator are good. Today I went to bountiful and again after being running good the car didn't start, I took the car with a tow truck to a mechanic shop and the mechanic check it and the mechanic said that I didn't find any problems.

All off these events I am describing happened all while driving and still occur while in park. All of these also slowly progressed into one big issue over a month and a half period. It started off as my headlights were dimming and flickering, then it progressed to my dash lights doing the same, flickering and dimming on and off. Then it started affecting my ac and heat, it would get locked to stay on and I would have it turned off but if my gauges were in a certain position sometimes it would just turn on by itself. Then my battery light would turn on and off, and then my power steering was making like a click sound and it would go in and out. One time my locks were going on and off by themselves as well. I replaced the battery thinking it was dying, that didn't help. I took it to get the battery and alternator tested and it was giving a 100%. I'm at a loss and do not know what else to do as the power steering is an issue.
2018 Ford Escape se acquired on 09/2018. At 17000 miles, in 08/2019, and driving on the highway, vehicle started to display the following messages: "hill start assist warning" "powertrain malfunction/reduced power" "malfunction indicator lamp - regulatory" "antilock brake fault" "restraints indicator lamp warning" "engine fault - service now". Pulled over, shut down vehicle, restarted vehicle and continued driving. About 10 miles later, all dashboard indicator lights turned on and complete loss of all instruments (tachometer, speedometer, temperature, mileage, etc. ) and a/c. Brought it into dealership two days later (earliest available time) and they claimed it was the result of a bad body control module (bcm) and replaced it under warranty. Two and half weeks later, vehicle did the same thing while on the highway. Brought it into same dealership and it was determined that it was a bad abs module and that was replaced under warranty. In 06/2020, while driving on the highway the vehicle exhibit the same behavior as the previous two times. Shut down vehicle on the side of the highway and it would not restart. After 45 minutes vehicle restarted and took it to nearest dealership. They acknowledged there were error/fault codes, cleared them and test drove from it for 20 miles and could not find anything. Currently waiting on Ford corporate to get vehicle to a dealership that can resolve the problem.

While driving in morning rush hour (bumper to bumper) traffic on the highway, my vehicle died. The check engine and battery light came on and it took several attempts for it to start again. I had my battery replaced a month ago and the alternator checked with no issues.

The key and ignition switch will not start the car. It is not the battery, alternator et al. It is the ignition switch. When the key is turned, everything comes on but the car will not start.

The vehicle is stalling. In motion, typically just after applying gas or while slowing down to a stop. Firestone auto repair stated that the alternator was producing high voltage and causing issue with the battery. They repalced the alternator and battery, but the issue still remains.
Starting on Dec 12, 2018 my 2017 Ford Escape got an error message auto startstop shift to p restart engine. This occurs when the car is stopped at a red light/stop sign. Other variables are: car in drive, foot on brake, lights on, heater on, seat warmers on, steering wheel heater on, radio and outside temperature below 40 degrees. Auto start stop system active. Instrument panel message instructed me to shift into park and manually restart engine, which I did. Engine restarted fine. No further error messages or indicator warning lights were displayed. This happens two or three times a day in the morning. Once this happens it will not do it any more that day. Have taken the car in to the dealer they can not find anything wrong with it. The can not recreate the error to see what it is. They have checked the battery and alternator. It has occurred everyday since Jan 25, 2019. Very dangerous condition, being disabled in traffic when expecting to accelerate away from a red stop light after it turns green. This is a hazard for potential rear end collision.
I have the start/stop on my 17 Escape. When coming to a stop and the auto start/stop comes on, I will get a notification on the digital screen saying "auto startstop shift to p restart engine. " I will have to put the vehicle in park and restart engine to be able to drive again. This has happened the past 5 months. It has been happening every time I drive now for the past 4 weeks. This happens when I am at a stop light or stop sign. I have almost been rear ended because of this issue. I had the battery and alternator tested and they were good. No issues with that.
As I am driving the vehicle, the battery light comes. With minutes, I have now power to the steering wheel and the car battery is dead completely. The battery and alternator checks out fine. Once the battery has been fully charged, the battery light goes off. The next day, same exact thing happened. I am stranded both times. I call the dealer where I bought it, asheville Ford, to have them tow in to look at it. They are too busy and look at it for 2+ weeks. I have to call a dealer 40 miles away from me and have it towed to them. Was told by the service dept. That it is a common complaint and they need to 'flash' or re- set the computer system at a 200$ cost to me. This is infuriating.

The problem that we are having has to do with the car just shutting off and losing power, mainly on the interstate. We started having the problem back in June of 17 when my wife broke down in fayetteville nc on her way to south carolina and had it towed to the nearest aaa service center. They couldn't find anything wrong but said she need a new battery. Fast forward to may 6 2018, not quite 11 months since the first time this has happened. Same thing, the abs warning light comes on, dash cluster shuts down, no radio or a/c, then the vehicle starts losing power and slowing down until there is no power at all. Everything we have read points to a problem the alternator. Every post we have read, around 40, says the same thing. Ford needs to recall all Ford Escapes to fix this problem. Someone is going to be killed because of their vehicles losing power and getting hit from behind my a tractor trailer. Please investigate this issue before something like that happens. Or Ford can replace the vehicle with a new one. Some posts don't even have that warning like we did, they said it just shut down for no reason. I believe Ford knows there is an issue with mist of no all Ford Escapes with this issue, but believe they are covering up the problem. Again, please investigate and ask the public who own Escapes for any issues like we have had and from people that have posted the same issues. Thank you your help with this issue. No one should have to die or be injured from a problem that Ford can fix. They need to issue a major recall for this problem and with your help we can get this fixed. We have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT which has been a great vehicle for the past 11 years. It's only been this past 11 months that these problems have arisen. Any thanks for any input to get Ford to right this wrong.

Power steering on car will shut off at random, an audible click will be heard when power steering shuts on or off, will turn on and off when going straight down the road or turning, having caused me to almost crash dozens of times. This will also happen when vehicle is stationary be at a stop light or sign, or even in driveway when vehicle still has yet to be driven. All dash board lights will also turn on and off, this sometimes coincides with the same timing of the power steering going on and off but not always. The red battery symbol will also turn on in dashboard. Exterior lights will have pulsing going on with bright and dimming. Power windows and locks still work properly during all of this. Center console (radio heat clock) will turn on and off at random also not necessarily all together. Battery and alternator checked with multi meter and working properly. This has been going on for several weeks now. Sometimes it wont happen at all other times it is constant on the drives. My rides are anywhere between 10-45 minutes.

On February 2017 I brought a 2014 Ford Escape at about 59 k miles and now it has about 70k miles on it. I was totally clueless as to how unsafe this car was and all of the numerous complaints/issues that consumers are having with this car. On 09/22/2017, this car totally broke down. This car is a safety hazard as I almost got into an accident as the car without made a loud noise, and without any warning just stopped/shut down in traffic. None of the safety indicator alerts worked in this car so I was clueless that the card had any issues. I only owned this car for about 6 months at the time and it was clearly out of warranty. I had the car towed only to find out that it is the transmission, bad battery, abs issues and possibly an alternator. I was also advised that it was an electrical issues and possible a recall that is why no warnings lights came on to let me know it was a problem. I reached out to Ford who basically said sorry we don't care have a nice day. This car is not safe and should be taken off of the market until Ford can get this in order. I really hope someone look into this matter before someone lose their life.

On 3 separate occasions, my vehicle shut off while I was driving. The lights flickered off, the breaks worked at approx. 30% after the car shut off and I had minimal steering capabilities and no acceleration capability. The car has also repeatedly been found with a dead battery (around 10 times now) when it has a brand new battery and alternator, and nothing within the vehicle has been left on to drain the power.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the voltage regulator, alternator, and battery malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic where it was diagnosed that a new alternator and battery were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.

The myfordtouch system will sporadically shut down. At times this shut down is evidenced by a loud pop through the audio speakers, then the audio goes out and the bluetooth phone connection resets. Often it will display an error screen saying "shutting down to save battery" with a progress bar. That progress bar never finishes to the right before the system restarts. This will happen multiple times during a trip, with no similar characteristics between trips where this issue occurs (day/night, highway/city, warm/cold, driving or stopped, none of it matters) and I can't recreate it on demand. It will happen one day and then not for a week or two. The lack of ability to recreate means that the Ford dealer will not repair it. The Ford service rep suggested I replace the battery and on his advice I did. However, this not fix the problem. He tested the alternator, and checked for error codes all with no change in the situation. Ultimately it has been with the dealer 3 times for service, with no resolution. I have video of it occurring on 11/6/2016. It has happened as far back as July 2016. Most recent occurrence was today, 11/10/2016 date entered in field below is last time it happened.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to decrease in speed and was unable to accelerate. The dealer diagnosed that the engine, alternator, and wiring failed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 58,000.
The car was parked in a shopping center parking lot no one was in it. It some how caught on fire, when we got the fire out and towed to the shop, it was the alternator that caused the fire and did several $1000. 00 damage. There were no issues with the car no warning lights.

We own a 2004 Escape. That two weeks ago caught fire due to the abs control module. We also have had brake lines go bad due to part failure twice. And the total of three alternators. Now we have spoken to Ford regarding the 01-03 fire issue. But they will not do anyrhing to consider the 04 even though in researching the actual recall it was the same issue. I woulf like to see this happen. We are selling our vehicle to the sealer sue to lack of reliability. But wanted to vet the word out on this issue. Our engine also idle and tries to pull the vehicle forward even with the brakes applied. This is due to a faulty idle air controll valve.

Car just exited the highway. Drove approximately a quarter mile and made a right turn. The steering locked up in mid turn. Fortunately there were no cars parked on this particular street or there would have been an accident. Managed to straighten wheel and able to pull in a parking spot. Car's electrical system started shutting down to save battery power. Had car towed to Ford dealer. They say the alternator was weak. Five days after the incident and still waiting for the part. Lost confidence in the product. Car is nine months old.
On December 28,2014 I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy main street when my power steering suddenly went out almost causing an accident. I took it into my mechanic the next day and was told it was my battery, which was replaced. On March 25, 2015 I was turning onto a side street when the power steering went out again. This time my alternator was replaced. I am suspicious that everytime something electrical goes, the power steering goes out. I am not convinced the battery or the alternator were defective now. There is a recall for this issue, but my VIN says mine is not recalled.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Escape. The contact stated that all four brake lines hose had to be replaced due to rust. The contact also stated that the alternator failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 106,037.

This model has chronic issues with electrical components not working. Frequent complaints of dome light, door locks, and radio not working, alternator/battery replacements. It seems to drain frequently and either not have enough power, and/or blow fuses. This is a very frequent occurrence and would seem fit for a recall.

Driving down road and the rpms on my 2004 Escape jump up. So I try to slow down and car keeps accelerating. Throw car into park because brakes wouldn't slow it down. Ever site I read says it is the accelerator cable. Supposedly this was replaced by dealer while in for air bag indicator light repair in December 2012. Under recall. Now when I start vehicle rpms jump, and get burning smell from motor. Cars rpms jump while driving down road also. Battery and alternator were replaced in may 2013 but since they were replaced battery indicator light is dimly lite upon accelerating. I have spent a fortune on this vehicle and every time I turn around it needs more work. I also after getting battery and alternator replaced had to put a new throttle body component in because motor was racing to 3000 rpms while in park or while foot was on break. Please help. I am scared to death to drive this vehicle like it is. Can not afford to put anymore money into it either.
I had the alternator go out in the middle of a busy intersection in the middle of rush hour traffic. I was very fortunate not to have gotten hit. However, there was an accident involving 2 other vehicles due to my being stopped. An alternator going out is not normally something to file a complaint on. It went out again in 4 days. Ok, bad alternator, it happens. I get on google to find out that this is an ongoing problem with the 2003 Escapes and it's listed all over the internet. I had no advanced warning that this was going out. I'm almost afraid to drive out of town. I don't know about you all, but, I am financially in bad shape due to the economy. I am working full time for the same wages I made in the 1980's I can't afford multiple automobile repairs for a problem that requires as much time to replace as this does. The front axle has to be removed in order to replace it so it is not a cheap repair. Why would a repair shop want to honor a faulty part when evidently it's an ongoing problem with the vehicle. I sure wouldn't!!! when is this alternator defect going to cause a serious accident and someone's kids get killed. Had I been farther into the intersection, it would have been much worse. Ifmyu03123kb801 like I said, I had no warning, it just died. I have 160,000 miles on the vehicle so I can understand the first one going out. But what about the 2nd 4 days later? and this is a nationwide problem that has been going on for several years and Ford is aware of it!!!.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that once the vehicle was turned off it could not be restarted. The radio also failed and the vehicle exhibited a reduction in power. The failure recurred on 5 different occasions. The vehicle was towed and the transmission, alternator, front axle and battery were all repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure and current mileage was unknown. The VIN was not provided.
On Feb 14th, 2013, on my way to work, my car radio went complete dead. . . Then as I was approaching an intersection, my car 'surged' like it was going "on & off". I prayed to get to get out of harms way enough to pull my car over, as soon as I did, all the lights started flashing and there was a constant 'clicking sound'. I called a town truck and had my car towed to my car repair place. Turns out I needed an new alternator. After spending $550 + to have it fixed, the following week, on Tuesday, Feb 19th, my car died. Again, having it towed to my car repair again, it turns out that the electrical system needed replacing. I only have 67k on my car and after spending another $600 to fix, I am not a happy consumer! Ford should reimburse me for these costs. Now, my car is fixed and as much as I loved it, I am not confident driving it anymore. Unless Ford reimburses me, I will never buy another Escape again, nor will I tell everyone about how wonderful of a vehicle they are because they aren't and when you spend that much money on a car. . . Well, when something costly happens like that, the vehicle should be replaced by Ford with no cost to the consumer. An exta $1200 out of my pocket means my family has to go without food.
When I am driving my car will try to die and all gauges will go to the highest rpm, speed, and full gas, then it will go back to zero and then proceed to the speed I was going, the battery light will keep flashing but no check engine light comes on. When I researched it, it seems that on more than ten occasions if not more are having the same electrical problem and no garage can figure out, they try replacing alternators, batteries, and wires and grounds and nothing is working, it can't be read on codes because nothing is showing up. If you ask me this should be a recall because if you search it in bing over two hundred matches comes up with the same complaint!!!.
Original owner, for almost 3 years now the airbag light would come on periodically, sometimes for 1 drive, sometimes for days at a time then go away. The light coming on and going off would happen for no apparent reason. It doesnt matter if someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not, ive checked the connector under the seat and it is firmly seated. In the past year I have also had the battery, brake and now abs light come on. In January of 2014 my alternator died and I had it replaced, in January of 2015 I had to replace my battery. Battery light has since gone away, but other lights come on randomly. Based on the type of work I do, im convinced there is a short or bad ground somewhere but I have no idea where to begin. Ford wants $160/ hr to diagnose this. My vehicle is not abused and has about 110k miles. Since the whole car is based on the electrical system, I feel this is something Ford should look at, diagnose and fix.
2 alternators in less than one year. Tired of being left stranded with 3 kids in the car!! and its a lot of $$$$$$$$.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 35 mph the gauge began to fluctuate erratically. The abs and battery light illuminated on the instrument panel and the windows could not be opened or closed. The door locks also would not engage. The failures would occur at the same time and also independently. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians replaced the pcm board. Immediately after the repairs were made the failure continued to occur. The technicians suggested that the alternator be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the alternator was replaced; yet, it did not correct the failure. The battery was replaced when the vehicle failed to start. When the cobattery was replaced, the vehicle started but the electrical failures continued. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 54,576.
Tccf transmission cooler condenser failure- July 16,2008 repaired; -leaking -slipping on shifting-had very little transmission oil on dip stick when repaired at dealership under the 36,000 limited warranty--after 4 days July 20, 2008 wife was rear ended by a dwi traveling at estimated more than 75 to 80 mph(my wife traveling on a state highway at normal regulated speed of 50 mph) -damages of over $13,500 to our car-all shop and repairs done by Ford dealership , our only shop and service place for this Escape 2008. On February 9, 2010(at 21,000 miles later the 2nd tccf-leaking fluid seen in snow-dealership after contact with Ford. Com replaced and repaired under good will customer plan of the dealership. They also replaced on our complaint of a "clacking" type noise , a steering right front assembly at no cost to us) there evidently a TSB on it. In addition we have a heating-cooling flow of air from our heat and air vents problem-temperatures not as we regulate them. . The dealership had replaced a actuator in behind dash(have record of that along with all service dates on Ford ownership home page-believe it about on previous service for oil change) on completion of recent repairs and our vehicle returned to us on February 18, 2010 we advised the service manager of the continuing air-heat regulator problem-advised they would reexamine it on next service or at our convenience. The dealership has stood behind the Ford, we must admit that-but our inconvenience and the so many that have seen by others on the internet seem to warrant a recall as to all three related problems--some of which seem to be related to the same tcc problems.
I have had to replace my alternator in my vehicle three times now since 2006. I would like to know why. The dealer I bought it from can't find anything and is not willing to help since the last time it was repaired was over two years ago. When it was in for repairs they stated the Ford dealer it was taken too could not find anything wrong with it. I even filed a complaint with the attorney general's office but they got a letter of such in accurate info from the dealer the claim was dropped. I know two other people with the same year Ford I have with the same issue. I would like your company to buy my car and get me into a new one or at the very least repair this issue and any issues that may be found if and when this is looked into. I feel I should not need to be making payments on a car that breaks down every two years. Sometime more. Please help. My car is a 2004 Ford Escape XLT 4wd. 2004 Escape refused to operate starter after being operated with load at slow speeds, found new battery was dead and new alternator was installed while under warranty 6m miles ago last year. Same problem has continued before and after battery and alternator repl. Private auto service shop tested. . . System charging subnormal below 900 rpm. Will not keep battery charged especially while a/c on, driving in city traffic in phoenix,. Az. Dealer refuses to look at it or test it now, even though they attempted to repair problem under warranty and problem continued to exist. SUV has 31,301 miles on it as of 10/20/07. They have stalled every time I took it back and just keep saying "it cannot be. ".
