Car dash board electrical wiring has gone bad. Originally the information on screen was fading and after about a month no longer shows any information. Ford stated the entire panel would need to be replaced, involving re-reading engine mileage and programming keys again for $700. Did not get that fixed as it's not a necessity. Driver window motor failed without warning while driving with the windows up. Now the engine has been reading a turbo issue but it cannot be determined if it's the actual turbo boost or the waste gate. This lead to transmission skipping and ultimately stalling while driving on highway and then city roads and having to restart car several times to make it home and then towed the car to local mechanic shop who stated transmission needs to be replaced for $4500. Along with a fuel line issue that had already been repaired 2 years prior and again unable to confirm why the turbo sensor code is popping up. Car is used for typical daily driving with children and should not have these issues. There are recalls for this make/year but not on my specific VIN though they are similar issues. The cost to repair the vehicle is more than it is worth and I'm very unsatisfied with the longevity of it. I did get the recall for my doors done after one day driving and a back door opened on its own, come to find out they still need to replace the other doors.

My vehicle is coming alive at night with headlights and radio coming on that I haven't be able to park it in my garage as o feel like it may end up catching fire. While driving it will shut down the turn signals, break lights, and climate controls and shut off the radio. I've narrowly avoided many collisions due to having no turn signals and break lights at night and throughout the day. I've talked to other owners of the model years in question and all seem to share similar experiences some ending in accidents and others paying thousands out of pocket for faulty pcm's or electrical wiring to the ignition. It happens randomly when driving or when the car is off and in park I feel as if this is an issue Ford is aware of as I've talked to almost 1,000 people all sharing similar issues and upon taking them to the dealer it's costed $500-$2,000 depending what the dealers came up with some being the pcm others being the wiring to the ignition, some being a bad fuse box and the dealers just throw parts at it to just have the issue come back 6 months down the road and then try to say now it's something else and it's going to be another $500-$2,000 in parts or try and push the owner to a new vehicle. I contacted my local Ford dealer and he said they aren't equipped to do this kind of work that I'll need to go to a hub dealership and it would be about $400 just to diagnose with having to pull the dash, steering column and check the pcm. Then it'd be parts and labor to fix the issue if the find anything wrong but I wouldn't be notified till after the repairs were completed.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that upon start of his vehicle, a service engine immediately warning message appeared on the instrument panel. On his way to toycen Ford, inc. (1000 chippewa crossing blvd, chippewa falls, WI 54729), the vehicle would constantly jerk while traveling at various speeds. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shut off upon depressing the brake pedal. Once the contact was able to reach the dealer, he was informed that he had a defective wiring harness that need to be replaced. The contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle; therefore he paid out of pocket for repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was 63,312. Jo.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while attempting to connect a trailer, the wiring harnesses failed to sync. The vehicle was taken to (gary smith Ford inc 1 beal pkwy NW, fort walton beach, FL 32548) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the wiring harnesses were incompatible. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
My car has had an issue twice involving squirrels/rodents chewing through wires and has cost quite a bit of money. Even when the car was under warranty the dealer stated this issue is not covered. I have seen many instances of this happening to others on the internet and the dealer also says it has been happening quite often. I have read that the wiring covering has been changed from petroleum based to soy based for environmental reasons and rodents love to eat the soy based wiring. My family has had many cars parked in the driveway over the years and this being the newest car is the only one that has had this problem. I would think that car manufacturers being aware of this issue would have come up with a solution by now such as spraying the wires with something that tastes bad to the rodents or coming up with another environmentally friendly solution to avoid this issue and expense to the consumer.
Vehicle is talling intermitten while stopped or idling. Problem is becoming more and more commen. Vehicle starts back but will continue to stall when stopping or idling. The issues are the same as previous recalled vehicles with wiring harness issues. Please figure something out so this doesn't become more of a safety issues. No check engine lights come on and no mechanic can find an issue. This problem needs to be fixed ASAP Ford!.
My car has the same problem as the recall 14s17-s1 except my engine is the 1. 6l and they won't fix it. I started my car after work and the engine fault service engine soon light came on. I tried to drive it but there was no power and was wanting to die so I parked it and called a tow truck. It is the map harness wiring.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of traffic. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as the electrical system wiring. The vehicle was then taken to the campbell Ford Lincoln, inc. (2801 s 11th st, niles, mi 49120) where diagnostic testing determined that the failure was related to the security system and key fob. They stated that another key needed to be made. The issue recurred and the vehicle has been back to the dealer for a month with no fix yet for the issue. The manufacturer just stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 117,653.
Vehicle has had fuse issues from day 1. Had the wiring going to sunvisor lighted mirror start smoking when we changed the fuse. Wiring was pinched from the factory. Then the headlight drivers side keeps blowing fuse. Now trying find out why.

I bought it around Aug 1, 2019 with about 30,000 mi. Less 2 months after I bought it, it started intermittently going to limp mode, where I can't accelerate past ~1500 rpms. Restarting the car usually makes it go back to normal. Though sometimes I have to restart the car several times, which sometimes triggers the check engine light, and/or turn it off and wait a couple min to make it go away. If I restart the car, and it immediately goes back to limp mode, I can hear/see the rpms go abnormally high for sec then go back down. When in limp mode, the traction control warning light, airbnb warning light, "hill start assist not available" message, and "engine fault service now" message come on. It usually goes into limp mode at low speeds in stop and go traffic when I'm stopping and sometimes when accelerating, especially on hills. Though it came once on the interstate when I was just slight braking going from ~ 70 mph to 65 mph, requiring me to dangerously pull over onto the shoulder of the interstate at night. I took it to the toothman Ford dealer in grafton, wv where I bought the car, and they the found code p2107 about the throttle actuator. They told me that the throttle body needs replaced. I had that done 2 times with 2 different throttle bodies but that didn't fix it. I took it to another Ford dealer for a 2nd opinion while it was in limp mode, and they found a code about a problem with the throttle body circuitry/wiring, but they checked all the wiring and couldn't find anything wrong. Also, once when I did a cold start after my car was parked in the rain all day, the car went straight into limp mode as soon as I turned it on. Also, one time in limp mode I smelled gas burning. I took it to an independent shop to diagnose the odor and was told the gas wasn't getting to all the cylinders. Restarting the car temporarily made the problems go away these times too.

I was driving my car on a very busy highway and then the engine failure light came on and my car went into limp mode and stalled out several times while I was driving, this was very unsafe as I had cars going by me as I was stalling out, this could have caused a crash. I took it to the mechanic and he stated that it is a problem with my wiring harness. There is a TSB out but it says that my car was manufactured two months prior then the dates listed for the TSB. There is also a recall for my year make and model in the correct manufacturing dates but I am being told by a Ford representative that it isn't my car without them even looking at it.
Hvac connector wire failure. Gm part 25797383. Known issue and recall with hummer h3 and reported issue with Saturn sky and pontiac solstice. 2007 Saturn sky redline presented with hvac blower failure. Upon inspection an overheated, melted and blackened wiring harness detector was identified as the cause of the failure. Research confirmed that this is a frequent problem with this connector. Gm has replaced the part with part number 25949869. A recall for the Saturn sky or pontiac solstice has not been issued.

While driving a local interstate between 60 and 70 mph, our newly purchased (3,000 miles) 2019 Ford Escape sel sport completely shut down without warning in heavy traffic. Luckily, my wife was able to coast to the nearest exit and pull off the road while traffic was whizzing by us at breakneck speed. Turns out that part of the wiring harness had either loosened on its own or was never properly secured from the factory. So, the serpentine belt managed to clip this wiring harness which, in turn, pulled the harness from its socket while starting to gradually shred the serpentine belt. Instantaneous loss of power without warning created a very serious and dangerous situation. Ford needs to issue a service bulletin and/or issue a recall ASAP since it would only take one other incident similar to this before someone is seriously injured, or worse.

Having issue with engine harness-almost go into accident twice- my car is not under recall however all other Ford Escapes in 2013 were under recall for engine wiring/harness. I got it fixed at Ford for a cost of $1000. 00. 2 weeks later I was traveling to another state and it happened again, almost got into accident due to this issue! this should be included in the recall that you already made for all the other 2013 Escapes! car was moving then started to buck and slow downm, almost stall-then wouldnt move, all lights came on. . .
Going down the road, and all the sudden my gauges dropped, except for fuel. My initial reaction was to hit the gas pedal to see if I'd lost engine power. I still had engine power, thankfully. Since then, w/o any warnings the gauges will drop, and all the sensor lights will come on while going down the road. I went to advanced auto parts, and had them to put it on their machine to see if it would code. It coded for p-1602. Battery tested fine. Looked up on you tube to see if anyone else was having the same problem, and found this video. In the video is exactly what is happening to my 2012 Escape while driving down the road. . Read more...

The car quit in the middle of traffic (no warning) Ford motor says its in the wiring harness (many recalls on this same problem (replacing the map sensor does not help) this car needs a recall! this is a 2013 with less than 40,000 miles.
Car occasionally died at stop lights, signs and once on the exit ramp while exiting a highway. Occasional to often rough running especially at low speed and odd shifts from the transmission. Surging in the engine while at highway speed and when slowing to stop. Engine fault message would come up in display and I took a picture, showed it to service manager with no success. Computer would not store codes when these problems occurred so on 4 separate trips to the dealership I was told there was nothing that could be done and to continue to drive it and bring it in if it happened again. Vehicle finally died and check engine light came on and stayed on. Had it towed to the dealership and a signal return for map wiring problem was diagnosed and repaired. After some reading I believe there have been service advisories and possibly a recall for certain VIN's. I told the dealership I did not feel safe driving the vehicle with the problems it was having but it made no difference.
Back seats buckles with not fasten. Wiring system trips multiple sensors sometimes shutting off the engine completely in the middle of traffic.
Display will read engine fault service now and then the car will seem like it restarts, it will next read transmission not in park, this will happen while I'm driving 75 mph down the freeway. I took the car into the Ford dealership and they replaced the wiring harness that was recalled, but it didn't fix the issue.
Engine wiring harness and sensor problems in 2013 Ford Escape with 2. 0 liter engine that was not included in previous safety recall. While on a vacation trip in February, 2018, the engine fault warning light came on in our 2013 Ford Escape titanium with the 2. 0 liter engine after restarting the car and entering the highway. It was followed by the check engine light. As we drove to the nearest Ford dealership, the car was increasingly hesitating and seemed to be misfiring, a dangerous situation since highway driving was required. The service technician at the dealership did an analysis and determined that the problem was in the map sensor. He replaced that sensor under warranty and the problem was apparently fixed until June 4, 2018, when identical problems appeared after a stop on a local trip. The car was parked at a safe location and on June 6 driven to a local dealership for service and repair. Analysis by the technician showed that there are problems in the engine wiring harness that are disrupting signals from the map sensor and the cam sensor, and that replacement of the complete engine wiring harness is required to fix the problem. Although this car was built during the same period as the cars covered by NHTSA campaign number 14v495000 and it has the same engine specifications and the same apparent problems, it was not included in that recall. It is clear to me it should have been. Further, it seems there are potential significant safety concerns regarding all 2013 and 2014 Ford Escapes with the 2. 0 liter engine that were not included in the original recall.
I have already submitted one statement. I am just wondering why my vehicle wasn't included on the recalls listed below when it sounds like the exact kind of problem I have been having with my vehicle. When started it doesn't take off and get up to speed without hesitation and stalling. And when I do get up to speed it loses power at the most inopportune time I have been in several near accidents due to the engine not running properly. The codes that have been coming up. And the check engine suggestions. Have been tested by four different mechanics none of which could fall find a problem till recently. And I'm being told that the turbo boost code is been caused by faulty wiring which is happened to be totally replaced. As per my other statement I am having it repaired tomorrow but not being reimbursed. And if other 2013 Ford Escape drivers have had this issue there may be some unrecorded desk due to the engine stalling on the highway and the inconsistent running up the engine when these codes pop up. The codes are also sporadic as I said in my other statement. One time you turn the car on and have a problem shut it off and the next time the codes are cleared. I have been living with this daily for a month.
Engine light and service engine soon message appeared. Car stalling and won't accelerate. Took to victory Ford in kansas city after 5 hours they couldn't figure out what the problem was other than replacing the sensor. Hundred and $69 for the diagnosis. I was out of town so baby. Did it all the way back home had a local dealership put the sensor in. Another $74. . In the meantime engine code would sporadically disappear. And reappear period for no apparent reason. Had the local dealership check the code again keeps reading turbo problems. They're Ford machine was down so I took it to a dealership in the next town. Specific coding showed that is a wiring and splice problem. In the meantime I've almost been run over several times because the car won't accelerate when the code is thrown. If there's a problem with the wiring harness it should have been covered under a recall which I've been told it is not. And tomorrow dealership is replacing all of the splicing and wiring for another $450. I'm afraid that the problem may have caused other issues. But won't know until after the original problem is fixed. I feel like a couple of the wiring issues that have been recalled already should have included this. And forward should have to reimburse me for my cost since this is obviously a manufacture problem and not normal wear and tear when car is in motion there is a whirring sound I've been told is due to the electrical problem.
I got into the truck and crank it up as I was leaving work one afternoon and when I turned the radio on the display screen for the rear back up camera and radio went out. . Its was flashing white and black and then black with a white line thru it after it kelly flashing turning red green orange with lime just running thru the screen. Then about 10 minutes tops it was gone out. . It only takes me 12 minutes to get home from work and it didn't last that long so took it back to my dealership and they don't know what wrong with it. But I have no radio and no camera. I continued to drive around not knowing what was wrong with the truck and one night it make a spark as I was sitting with it running at a fast food drive thru. The smoke was coming from the front vents so it parked it and called the tow truck. Quick towed it back to the dealer who still couldn't figure out a problem they just disconnected the wiring completely so I'm worse off as far as it goes to figure out the problem . I don't see any fixes for these issues but I've seen lots of the same complaints please help.
I was driving on a flat road, traveling 35 mph and my check engine light came on and the car died. I had it towed to the dealership and they said the "wire repair harness 3526 cpd" had came loose. I had not ran over anything at all and the vehicle is in great shape, always maintenanced by dealer, 38,569 miles. I was told my VIN was not covered by recall but online I found recalls for 2014 for Escape for the wiring harness. I paid for the repair but I believe this should not occur on a 2014 vehicle and should have been covered by a recall.
Was driving on a cold snowy day temp gauge went from c to hot in five seconds then the car check engine light cam on and car limped at about 5 miles hour to side of road engine was cold . Checked coolent it was 2 ozs low started up call garage ran codes came up 1299 Ford said that normal it's okay to drive took it home every four days had to add coolent took it back. Had a part put on the coolent system threw more codes had to have wiring harness put on still leaked coolent ordered hose clamps through Ford suppose to be here 1/19/18. Now they are saying middle of febury so still with out car.
Tl-the contact owns 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the wiring was done incorrectly at the time the vehicle was manufactured. The contact is worried that the failure may cause a fire or cause the vehicle to break down. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed. The diagnosis determined that the failure part of the vehicle was the brain box. The homer skelton Ford of millington at 9030 us-54 in millington, TN was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Approximate mileage at the time of the failure was 100,000. Sh.
My vehicle keeps stalling and dying when I am driving at a slow speed (roadway or parking lot alike) , I replaced the battery to make sure that wasn't causing it and it still does it. I started to research the issue and apparently there was a recall for that model for the wiring harness and the description matches my issue. I called the dealership and was told that my vehicle does not have the recall. I did more research and there are numerous accounts of dealerships stating this is not a recall and some people were almost injured because of this. Vehicles stopping while driving is very dangerous. This recall definitely needs to be expanded. The code reported for this is tsp 13-12-12. . Read more...
First the wiring had to be replace, week later catalyic convertor, week later transmission, car is only 4 yrs old.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was restarted and was pulled over to the side of the road. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to the dealer (midland Ford, 500 joe mann blvd, midlan, mi 48642, 989-631-0040) where it was diagnosed that the wiring to the sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
My 2014 Ford Escape suddenly hesitates and stalls while driving it, causing a serious safety issue. My Escape has never had any work performed on it beyond new tires and oil changes so this is a manufacturing defect. I took my vehicle to the local Ford dealership for service and was informed it is a problem with the splices in the wiring harness for the map sensor. I was also told it is the exact same problem as Ford's current recall number 14s17 for 2013-2014 Ford Escapes; however my VIN is not covered by this recall due to its manufacturing date. Apparently additional vehicles need to be added to this recall or a new recall needs to be issued as this issue continued on my Ford Escape and Ford has refused to fix my problem since my vehicle is out of warranty due to the number of miles, even though this is clearly a safety issue caused by a manufacturing problem and not a wear and tear issue. I was charged $360. 35 to repair my vehicle.
Engine fault light illuminated and message appeared stating to have the vehicle serviced immediately. Upon inspection by the dealer service department, this problem was found to be with a portion of the electrical wiring harness which due to its placement had abraded causing a short and erroneous engine fault message. Ford currently has a recall for a similar/identical problem with other builds of this vehicle. It would seem that this recall should be expanded to include a wider manufacturing time frame. Owners who have paid for this repair should be reimbursed.
Vehicle was in drive and suddenly lost power. The accelerator was pressed but the vehicle stopped driving forward even though the engine was running. The engine did not rev. The dash light indicating the transmission disappeared. The vehicle suddenly jumped into gear so hard I suffered whiplash. It did this several times as I attempted to get clear of heavy traffic. I literally thought I had been rear ended at one point as the car jolted so hard. After getting out of the roadway, the transmission failure service now light came on. This is consistant with the pcm wiring harness recall done on other 2013 Escapes but was not covered for my particular vehicle. The jolts to the vehicle kicking in gear destroyed the transmission. I was in motion at the time, in bumper to bumper traffic. I was lucky not to strike or be hit by another vehicle. I have contacted Ford but they state my car was not covered under that recall and that they will not help me.
Squirrels got into the electrical wiring causing the park assist, hood latch warning, front lights, front, left, right, and rear proximity warning sensors to not operate properly. Vehicle was parked in my driveway next to my truck which did not receive any damage. I have become aware of three other incidents of the same problem. Research indicates Ford has switch to a sucrose based insulation which attracts rodents. I have also seen a advertisement for duct tape with rodent repellent to stick over the insulation.
