Our 2005 Ford Escape has been meticulously maintained at the dealer where it was purchased. This can be verified by checking the service records at dale jarrett Ford, indian trail, nc. On 2/25/12, the vehicle was diagnosed as having an oil leak between the main engine block and the crankshaft cradle. The seal between these two foundational structural parts of the engine is a simple applied bead of silicone sealant, rather than a fixed gasket. Because of the location of the leak, we were told that the most cost effective repair is to completely replace the engine, rather than incur the labor charges of totally disassembling the engine to repair this seal. The projected cost for this repair is $4,000. 00 to $5,000. 00. We feel this is a premature and catastrophic failure of a design component of the vehicle's engine. Ford motor company, by direct communication, has offered no assistance in the repair of this problem, per their company policy. Our contention is that this is a defect in design and workmanship on the part of Ford motor company and warrants a recall for vehicles found to have this problem.

Since buying SUV trouble with rear windshield wiper, cruise control staying engaged, & turn over cold/hot start hesitation currently voluntary recalls. Ford says my SUV was only affected by the windshield wiper. At 22,000 miles went to original dealer for oil change put windshield fluid ? wasn't in port or reservoir. Bucking at 28,000 miles brought to other dealership during oil change. During visit told them about interior lights. Suppose to check automatic transmission filter/fluid/service based on manual, but wasn't done. At other Ford dealership had SUV 35,830 bucking problem again and interior lighting on panels not working. Was told those lights never worked or glowed? said bucking was a suspension pin in the front passengers side, only one was changed despite 4 wheel drive vehicle. ( was towed back to dealership next day 4 bucking ) Ford mentioned needing new breaks soon that there was vibration and shimmy from the break pads that I was feeling? had tires done 38,177 miles & brakes 38,550 with independent mechanic non Ford was told that all 4 suspension pins should have been changed simultaneously like my tires and that their is a class 1 leak from my differential/transmission-possibly just a gasket change 6-9 hours worth of labor. I contacted the Ford customer service repair center I would have to pay for out of pocket despite having made note bringing in issues when vehicle was under the manufacturers warranty it is currently out. With the sensitivities to the current market felt it wasn't in my best interest to pay for the extended warranty. If Ford closed who would do my work when they were suppose to do it during regular bumper to bumper full manufacturer warranty in the first place and didn't. Not to mention I still owe 2 more years worth of car note & insurance to pay off this vehicle. I don't have the money to pay for repairs that should have been covered by the manufacturer.

At 9 months pregnant, while driving home I suddenly heard a loud thumping noise. I was close to home so I brought it there and had it towed to a dealership. They told me that there was absolutely no oil in the car, even though I had my oil changed a month before. The oil light never went on and we did not see any leaking oil. I received a call from the dealer telling me that my engine had to be replaced at 46,000 miles! he told me that I should have been checking my oil every time I got gas (at 9 months pregnant!) and it was up to me to keep up with it, not the check oil light. He told me that I should not rely on those indicators. A new engine and $5000 later and now my car leaks oil. I have been bringing it in every month to fix the leak and it always starts again within a week. This has been going on for 2 years now. I have 1 more year left for my engine warranty and I have a feeling that they will find the expensive problem as soon as that time comes. I'm so upset and frustrated with this car and even more so with the service.
I have had my oil pan fixed 3 times and I only have 21,000 miles on my vehicle. Today it is in for the third time. Also now I have to get oil spots off my driveway. I never though I would have to worry about my 2005 Ford Escape leaking oil on my driveway.
3 years old, 60,000 miles - transmission has completely blown. Its in the shop currently. The oil pan is leaking. The rack and pinion steering is leaking fluid.

Check engine light came on; took vehicle into dealer; found a faulty catalytic converter monitor sensor; ordered part (10/02/03) took vehicle in again about a week later to have new sensor installed, and an engine oil leak was found; rack and pinion unit was leaking; unit was replaced, and was still found to be leaking so a third unit was installed (10/14/03).
Leaking front oil seal and oil pan gasket with only 60,000 miles.

Owned the vehicle for only two weeks and 165 miles. Noticed stains on my driveway. Took vehicle to dealer and was told that the engine was leaking oil. Ford told the dealer to install a new engine (on my brand new car). They gave me a cheap rental car to drive while my new one is being repaired. I paid cash for the car. Now I'm without the car and without the money. Lemon laws don't even protect me at this point.
I bought my vehicle new ooon 08/18/01 as a demo w/ 5600 miles. On 10/22/01 my vehicle stalled for no reason on my way to work. I was going slightly downhill (not that steep of a hill) at approx 35mph. I lost power & my check engine, oil & battery lights came on. Luckily I could pull over quickly. I turned the vehicle off & waited about 30 sec. It started no problem. I called the dealership that morning & was told there was nothing wrong with it but to call back should it happen again. On 10/24/01 the same thing happened again at the same point in my commute under the same circumstances. Once again I was able to start the vehicle with no problems after pulling to the side of the road. I called the dealership again & took it in. Of course they couldn't find anything wrong w/ it & the called the Ford hotline for any recommendations. I brought it back the following week so they could replace the idle motor & a few other things. The dealership states there is no recall & it sounds like they don't even really know what it is or how to fix it, the hotline just recommended some things to do hoping it would fix it. Shortly after that I noticed my vehicle was leaking fluid (11/15/01) about a week after an oil change. I took it back to the oil change place & they said it wasn't oil but I had a pretty big leak of what looked like transmission fluid. I immediately took it to the dealer. It ended up being differential fluid & they replaced the power transfer case. So far my vehicle hasn't stalled or leaked any other fluids. My biggest concern however, is the stalling problem which could potentially be very dangerous. I was lucky in that I wasn't on the highway & it was very early & I had a place to pull over so I didn't get hit. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
