The contact owns a 2024 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the front driver’s and front passenger’s side seat heaters failed to adjust the temperature once the heater maintained a high level. The contact had owned prior Ford vehicles that automatically lowered the seat temperature once a certain temperature was maintained for a while. The contact had to manually adjust the seat temperature to avoid a potential burn due to the prolonged seat temperature. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

2 Seat Heater Wiring Harness problem of the 2021 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/17/2023

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Escape. The contact stated she drove for an hour and parking the vehicle at her residence. However, upon picking up her coat from the front passenger side seat, she noticed smoke coming from the seat and burn mark on the seat. Additionally, the contact had burning sensation on her eyes due to the strong chemical burning odor emitted by the passenger seat. The contact did not seek medical assistance. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic tests. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 37,600.
