In rainy conditions, executed a hard stop activating the abs. After successfully activating, the brakes go almost to the floor, and abs function has stopped. No air in brake system, and master cylinder checks out good. Seems dangerous that the one time you really need abs, it goes out. No warning lights on dash, mechanic has confirmed issue.

When turning off my 2024 Ford Escape st line, if I sit in the vehicle for at least 15minutes to 30minutes there's a clicking noise coming from under the hood of the vehicle. Sounds like a abs issue. I tried turning the vehicle back on, stepping on the brake pedal (push start) the brakes will go down into the floor, I then let off the brake, & proceed to start vehicle again and now the brakes are fine. I'm aware there's an issue, I was told from the dealership I have some sort of abs problem, however the dealership will not repair unless there's a code reading the problem. . .

For 6 months, after a routine visit and safety recall preformed by Ford, I have had an issue with the park brake engaging on its own. When pressing the button to disengage it, the car would not disengage and would remain locked. The only way to disengage it would be to throw the car into reverse, press the button to disengage the park brake and step on the gas pedal as fast as you could. After 6 months of trying to diagnose the issue, Ford pittsville came up inconclusive, replacing multiple parts of the e-brake such as the buttons themselves, the wires connecting the brakes, and checking over the brakes. The issue itself was unrecreatable but the only common denominator was remote starting the car via the app. The most recent investigation this past month conducted by Ford revealed that the pin for my brake and e brake was loose after they (Ford) had replaced it. They fixed the connection and delivered my car to me. I hadnt even driven the car yet, only remote started it due to the heat. When the car was started, it immediately popped up with a new issue. The powertrain had failed, with codes popping up via Fords system indicating the: park brake, brake system, gear shift, and 5 other codes that I cannot recall at the moment showing on their system. Ford diagnosed the problem, finding the gear shift itself was not engaging due to a loose pin (code: p0929:77). I was told that the car was safe to drive but there has been zero communication on when the part would be ordered or taken care of. I have tried to follow up multiple times with the dealership in the past two weeks and update them about the cars current state, including now with the error still showing, my steering feels loose and my car feels as if it is drifting while I drive.
The contact owned a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, as the contact was approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed; however, it failed to stop as intended. The contact moved to the other lane when the vehicle came to a stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to autozone and the contact was informed that three sensors needed to be replaced. Two sensors were replaced; however, the abs sensor was not replaced due to cost. The contact stated that on the drive home, an abnormal odor was coming from the vehicle. While the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was consumed by fire and destroyed. The fire and police departments were called. A fire report was filed; the fire department stated the cause of the fire was due to faulty wiring. The contact notified her insurance company and the vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Car experiences delayed start after depressing ignition button and then afterwards the power steering does not work.
I had recently brought an SUV that came with no manuals for that vehicle. Which is important and crucial, but the scariest part and a life-threatening way. It came with no brake fluid at all. I was shocked, and you put my life and my son in danger. I will file a complain with federal trade commission (ftc), state's attorney general's office, state's department of commerce , better business bureau (bbb) and the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) for car safety issues and manufacturer recalls. It can be dangerous, and your brakes may not work properly. The fluid operates under high temperatures and high pressure, and without it, your car would not be able to stop when you push the brake pedal inside your vehicle. It will simply go to the floor without stopping, which will have catastrophic consequences. Thank you, falvey's. I will order the manuals myself and go to o’reilly auto parts first thing this morning to top off my brake fluid. Thank you, jesus, for protecting me and my son. The devil is a liar. That my consciousness told me to do further research and investigation. I forgive you all and hope the next customers get treated professionally, especially when it comes to safety. Number one priority!.
My engine check light came on and it said engine fault service now, with a wrench signal exposed. Then I could hardly stop the vehicle , it became very difficult to apply the brakes, using all of my body weight applied to stop the vehicle. I immediately brought it to o’reily’s auto place and had a diagnostic test run on the vehicle. Multiple default code come up. P1016, p0365, p0299,p164d p0369,p0443,p0456,p1450. Brought it to the Ford dealership, upon inspection the diagnosis evap system related disc on this line , tested evap system, found canister purge valve to be broken , tech notes that this is a non oem part. Advised to replace purge valve and hose assembly. Also discovered that vacuum pump not pulling vacuum, advise to replace pump and reset. Upon removal of the vacuum pump, found pump cam lobe twisted off , vacuum pump is seized, cam replacement is seized , cam replacement will be required. Also both front axel boots are torn, spewing grease all over, recommend replacing both axels, leak p2 pinion value, left back axel leaking, both back brake rotors and pads worn 2mm in the red, coolant level low possible leak. Also is discovered that there was a non Ford part purge valve that shouldn’t be there. Estimated cost is 8,500-9000 dollars could be more.

The car experienced a sudden loss of boost power and, at the same time, and much more concerning and dangerous, a total loss of brake power assist. The brakes were firm (hard), but had zero power assist, and I could barely stop the car at idle in my driveway, much less on a highway or open road. I thank god that my son, who was driving at the time, was not in a dangerous situation when this failure occurred. It turns out, a single vacuum pump, mated directly to the camshaft, applies vacuum boost to the turbo (power loss) and brakes (catastrophic brake failure). I replaced the vacuum pump, but the problem persisted, so I had to take it in to the dealership for evaluation. I was told the problem is the bolt that mates the vacuum pump to the cam shears off when the vacuum pump seizes. I subsequently read of many cases of this problem on the Escape, but also on the f-150 (for which there is apparently a recall???) -- really, any Ford with an ecoboost turbo engine. Additionally, the bolt shearing and vacuum pump disintegrating, leads to metal shavings that destroy the turbo. How this very serious road hazard caused by a terrible engineering design flaw (single point of catastrophic failure) hasn't resulted in a major safety recall for all these Ford ecoboost engines is totally shocking and beyond me. This is coming from an engineer who has spent 50+ years working on cars. Nhtsa has absolutely failed in not addressing this terrible safety and design problem.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable. The traction control, the abs, the brakes, and the knee air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the police department mechanic vipd motor pool, where it was diagnosed and determined that the abs module had failed, causing other electrical failures. The mechanic determined that the abs module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

1st: water reservoir tank was empty and didn't notice it until heat was cold. . . Inspected and filled reservoir back to max had it tested and couldn't find reason for coolant to be low. . . Ford tech told me to drive it because they were unable to explain. 2nd issue when vehicle sets overnight when backing out of carport back brake system sounds like a scrubbing sound then after drive awhile it may or may not do it when I put it in reverse. Just curious. Haven't had said vehicle but one year.
On October 16, 2022, I purchased a 2016 Ford Escape from the stowasser Buick GMC car lot. I have had numerous problems with this vehicle since the beginning. On November 1, 2022, I took my car to their service department because it was running poorly. The mechanics worked on my vehicle and returned it to me. However, on January 8, 2023, I had to take my vehicle back to stowasser shop because it was again running poorly. This time, they had to install a new motor. At that time, my mileage was 49,000, but when the vehicle was returned to me, it had 75,000 miles on it. I asked why the mileage had increased so significantly, but they kept changing the subject and never provided an answer. When I went to pick up my vehicle, the salesperson who sold me the vehicle whispered to me that my vehicle needed new tires badly. I feel this was something the dealer should have addressed. I had not put many miles on my vehicle for the tires to be so worn. On January 18, 2023, I had to put new tires on this vehicle, which cost me $756. 00. It was difficult for me to come up with this money, but I had no choice if I needed reliable transportation. I had traded in my older vehicle because I needed transportation, I could count on in my retirement years. On October 2, 2024, I needed new brakes, which were badly worn down. This expense cost me $900. 00. The mechanic told me the oil level was very low and asked if a red light had come on to warn me. I said, "no, there was no sensor light. " if it had not been for the thoroughness of my mechanic, I would have driven off with no oil in the engine. Right now, my car is parked because another senor light came on and I was told that it is the catalytic converter. I am distraught because I trusted stowasser that they would take care of me because they knew I was retired and needed a reliable vehicle. I have lost my job, exhausted my unemployment benefits, and now live on social security. I cannot afford to fix this lemon of a car I was sold.
My 2017 Ford Escape 1. 5l ecoboost. Had the brake booster completely fail while driving down the highway on oct. 27th. I took it the next day to the Ford service center in my area. They informed me it was the brake booster and would cost around $1100. They called me two days later and told me instead it was the vacuum pump, and that it was be cheaper to fix. They said it would be done that following Monday. On Monday I got a phone call asking me when the last time I changed/checked my oil. I told them it was changed on Aug 7th. It was checked (with video evidence) on October 19th. They told me they were “test driving my vehicle and heard a loud pop, followed by my car turning off. ” they informed me that there was very little oil in my pan and that my car had thrown a rod. I explain that my oil level was fine, and that my car had no indication of needing oil. They replied with similar comments such as “the car gave no warning or indication light. It was driving just fine, it was shifting fine. Everything was fine until pop. ” my husband asked his mechanic (who was unavailable at the time) and was told “when a vacuum pump goes out the engine will continue to supply oil in an attempt to cool the pump. The oil will then go to the exhaust and due to the eco system on the exhaust. The driver won’t know. ” with this information, an investigation into a recall seems necessary.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. The oil warning light was illuminated with an abnormally loud whirring sound. The contact then turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle started working properly. On another occasion while driving into school parking lot, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact struck the curve and the vehicle drove onto the grass and came to a stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with internal gear failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 148,611.
I have a 2022 Ford Escape and the rear brakes started making a noise in reverse. I know Ford has a recall on this problem for broncos and 2021 Ford Escapes and a few 2022 Ford excapes but my is not included. I feel this should be covered either under the recall 21c31 or under my car warranty. I have talked to Ford and they know there is a problem with the brakes but wont cover my car.

When going in reverse the breaks squeal. I have reported this in the past but was told "the noise was normal in this car. " I have worked on cars for years and I don't by that. The noise is coming from rear wheels. The router on the left rear has not worn normally. There are groves worn in it. The amount of break dust on the left front wheel is not normal. I realize this happens normally, but this is above and beyond what I would call normal. It could indicate a problem with the break distribution valve. Thank you in advance for your help with this problem.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while approaching a stop light at about 35 mph there was a vehicle ahead about five to six car lengths away when all of a sudden the pre collision warning system illuminated and the contacts foot was hovering over the brake, as soon as she put her foot on the brake the vehicle abruptly stopped on the spot. The contact was able to continue driving her vehicle. The contact proceeded to take her vehicle to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was advised that no codes were displayed throughout the diagnosis. The dealer set the automatic braking system to the setting "low" as it was previously set at "normal". The vehicle was not repaired as nothing was found to be wrong with the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,898.
The contact owns 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 45-55 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal travelled down to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact depressed the brake pedal harder, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The contact drove to the residence, where the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the abs module had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000. The VIN was not available.
The component that malfunctioned was my transmission according to the mechanic. I was driving and all the sudden my car stopped and wouldn't go, then the accelerator started going to the max but nothing happened. My first thought was a flat tire and after I checked my tires it wasn't flat. I started my car back up and it did the same thing eventually stalling and not moving at all. The wheel locked and would not move to steer or release. I had to get it towed. This is a huge safety issue concern because it stopped in the middle of the road while I was driving putting my life and others at risk. It's available for inspection upon request. The problem was confirmed by a mechanic in which he said there was a recall at some point on the transmission for my vehicle but he was unsure if it was still active. There were no warning lamps or signs and there still isn't present on my dash. Thus making there being no warning signs at all a safety issues for myself and others.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear brakes were making a squealing and rubbing metal-on-metal sound whenever the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who had not diagnosed or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Egr coolant leak in the first 70k miles of driving the car this has been causing my check engine light to turn on and the problem is 'discovered' when the part is no longer covered by warranty.
Brakes have failed twice and been repaired. Several sensors have failed and been repaired. The engine failed and had to be totally rebuilt. The vehicle has only 45000 miles. Minor, but paint has peeled down to bare metal. The engine has just been repaired by dealership - it was a bear to get that accomplished. Ford corporation would not assist but the dealership itself was very proactive. When the incident happened several warnings came on but did not stay on - stopped right in the middle of a street which in my view created a huge safety hazard . We were able to restart and get off the road but had to have it towed. It would not go faster than 5-10 mph. I have done much research on the vehicle to find out that this failure was due to a design and numerous manufacturing flaws - coolant leaked into the engine block and cracked the heads. Ford corporation has known this for a long time and was not forthcoming when the other repairs were done. The paint and the brakes are also well known problems. The vehicle is now repaired but the question is - for how long? it was inspected through sam galloway Ford in fort myers FL. I don’t feel like I can even sell/trade the vehicle and pass these issues on to someone else. Ford is certainly not being fair to other drivers who are having the same ecoboost engine problems.

2017 Ford Escape 1. 5 ecoboost with only 50,571 miles. The engine failed as did the brakes due to the booster breaking off at the engine cam. I called Ford motor company and they asked me to take it to a Ford dealer because they have a customer service program on that engine which extended the power train warranty period to seven years. I notified Ford of the engine failure in August 2024, made an appointment at a Ford dealer per their request, had it towed to the dealer, and on 10/31/24 the Ford dealer notified me that the engine was defective and will cost $8000 to fix it. Ford motor company said sorry, the 7 year in service date on this vehicle expired on 10/19/24 just 12 days earlier, and refused to fix the engine. I had to pay the Ford dealer a $210 check out fee then go to the expense of towing the vehicle back home and stuck with a junk vehicle that Ford knows their ecoboost engine has a manufacturers defect.
I bought this car in August 2024. There wasn’t a problem, until I backed up. There is this moaning sound. It happens most of the time. This was supposed to be a certified used car. I took it to the dealership and they duplicated the sound I was talking about. Then they tell me they can’t fix it until they hear from Ford. Should be a fix 4th qtr 2024. I saw on Ford website there is a fix and I told them. They said they can’t do anything about it until Ford tells them. They knew this was a problem. Most forums have a lot of Ford Escape owners are having the same problem. I just want it fixed. There is a TSB out for it, but the dealership won’t do anything. I feel like I am being given the run around.
