1 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

Total loss of engine power massive amount black soot exiting exhaust while driving recall # 05v270000 was not performed on vehicle ( I am the original owner) never received notice in mail and dealer somehow missed this "work" and Ford should have followed through on this situation. Other repairs done to this vehicle to "fix" this problem was to drain the fuel tank (algae in fuel was the excuse-no algae) fuel pump and filter rail (not problem) two turbochargers were replaced due to excessive sooting (one warranty one at my expense) egr valves and a cam sensor (Ford knows the problems exist because Ford discountinued the 6. 0 litre motor) this problem has occured multiple times over my ownership.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 08/08/2020

While driving, the engine just quits and loses all power. I have to shift into neutral, turn the key all the way to off, and restart the engine. Sometimes it starts right up, other times it takes several (many) tries to get the engine to restart. It can go 200 miles without killing, and then kill 5 times in 5 miles. The issue appears to be similar to the recall 05s34 (NHTSA campaign number: 05v270000), but that's specific to diesel engines, and my truck has a gasoline engine.

Was driving on highway and vehicle all of a sudden lost power kept pressing the gas pedal and it wouldn't go as felt like you wanted to turn off it would stall we have checked everything in the truck engine everything and everything seems good transmission does not have any metal shavings I did notice that for some reason the electrical panel have melted it was all completely melted and they believe that the transmission is also melted and stuck together I'm not sure because we still haven't I mean transmission has no signs that something wrong with it I think this is very thing I think this is very dangerous for a vehicle to just stop in the middle of the freeway and imagine if they would have been traffic thank god that there wasn't that nobody was right behind me cuz the truck just stopped and it was not going.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 11/12/2016

While driving the truck the accelerator becomes nonresponsive and soon after the truck shuts down, complete power loss. Very difficult to steer and brake. It will start back up most of the time, but on occasion it will take 20 to 30 minutes to re-start. Ford has a recall for this # 05s34. My VIN indicates that my Excursion isn't under this recall, but this is exactly what is happening. This event happens on city streets and highways, while driving or sitting at a stop sign or stop light. This event has become more frequent as my wife will no longer drive it do to the vehicles handling/breaking issues without power so I only drive it on weekends. It happens at least once a day sometimes repeatedly within seconds after restarting and sometimes never again during the weekend. It also is not time or distance related. It has happened leaving our house and it has happened 20 minutes into a drive. Very sporadic.

How can a company as Ford claim to be an honest american car company. . . They should be stripped of their title of american and given their own identity of corporate cause they obviously do not care about the safety or their own integrity with the united states the people and we the people are just dollar signs to them. I have two Fords and lets just say I should have learned after my second found on the road dead vehicle to not have been suckered into buying the american made Ford again. I own a 2000 Ford Excursion and have had four spark plugs blown in the last two months. . . Two in the last week. My truck barely hit 143,000. . . . Work trucks, dependable family vehicles. . . Not so much. My truck has been taken care of immaculantly since 2000 and many who are not familiar with body details mistake it for the newer versions. This is a common problem that has been in existence since the truck came out. . . So much a problem Ford came out with a special repair kit for it that will only be warranteed if you go to Ford to fix it. . . Sounds like a racket to me. A racket the government has looked into and approved. I have a family and am trying to get through this recession but seem to be going bankrupt not on gas prices from overseas or inflation but from repairs for an american, excuse me corporate american made vehicle that has taken almost every pint of blood my family has collectively. After a decade of continued complaints Ford and the "safety agency" does nothing. . . My truck sits in my drive way because I choose to buy school clothes for my children and groceries vs. Repairing it again. Beyond disgusted on behalf of the american Ford owners. . . Who have walked in my shoes. After so many complaints how can the government and consumer affairs allow this corporate company not be held accountable?.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 02/25/2012

While driving the vehicle made a loud bang and smoke began coming out of hood. Once we got the engine turned off and the emergency was over we discovered the spark plug had blown up. When it blew up the head became stripped and we had to have a plug installed into the defective head and replace the coil. I have since found out this is a very common problem with Ford Excursions.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

The power door lock electric motors freeze up and do do not operate with the electric switch. The frozen pwer door lock does not allow the door to be opened properly and quickly in an event of an emergency. The manual door lock release must be utilized in order to unlock the doors. This safety issue affects all four doors of the vehicle. This not an isolated safety hazard, we currently have 2 in our fleet and all the power door locks dont operate safely or properly. We have had other Ford Excursions which all were affected with the defective power door locks.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 07/26/2011

The power door lock electric motors freeze up and do not operate with the electric switch. The frozen power door lock does not allow the door to be opened properly and quickly in an event of an emergency. The manual door lock release knob must be utilized in order to unlock the doors. This safety issue affects all four doors of the vehicle. This is not an isolated safety hazard, we currently have 2 in our fleet and all the power door locks dont operate safely or properly. We have had other Ford Excursions which all were affected with the defective power door locks. In parking lot of restaurant. We went into the restaurant and in 15 min someone ran in to tell everyone someone's truck was on fire. Well it was our 2000 Ford Excursion diesel. 29 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 09/05/2010

Windshield wipers running in intermittent mode. Started to smell an electrical burning smell in the interior cabin. Windshield wipers started to move very slowly. I tried to turn wipers to on-slow and on-fast mode and they worked erratically. I pulled off road and stopped vehicle and smoke was pouring out of drivers side on outside of windshield where wiper motor is located. I ran for my fire extinguisher but did not have to use it. Wipers are not functioning at this time. I have not replaced any parts at this time and I am filling a complaint. I see there is a NHTSA campaign id# 01v258000 that I believe involves my vehicle. I called Ford motor company and they noted my concerns and said there was no recall on my vehicle at this time.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

I purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion last month from private seller. After fixing all of the door lock actuators ( which is apparently is yet another non-recalled problem) affecting most of these Ford vehicles, I discovered that the former owner "forgot" to tell me the gem unit had been swapped out for one found apparently in a salvage yard. The gem controls 4x4 function, and a Ford tech tells me, it appears this one came from a 4x2 vehicle. The plot thickens. This integral electrical component of a formerly $45,000 vehicle has been declared obsolete by fo mo CO. . It cannot be found. There are none available. . . Anywhere. No after market company has them either. This vehicle is virtually worthless to me. . I live in colorado and must have a 4x4. I thought parts for vehicles had to be available for 20 years. Ford customer service hirelings have been totally worthless. "we're sorry, there is nothing we can do. ".

31 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 02/27/2010

#4 spark plug ejected from head. This is an obvious defect and I believe Ford should be held accountable for this poor design.

My car was working perfectly, except for a blinker light which was not working, it was completely off, I started my truck around 10am and I dropped my kids to school, came back and park my car, about 1 hour later I head out again, I insert the key to start the car and the minute it started lots of smoke started coming out from the front hood. Everything was so quick, there was not even time to open the hood and look, the truck got into fire, buy the time the firemen came there was a big fire, the car is completely lost.
