My wife went into town and was returning and driving through a busy intersection when our Excursion died, she had a terrible time steering and avoiding injury without power assist, we had the vehicle towed at our expense, I borrowed an obdii scan tool and pulled the code for cps, replaced and it runs again $200. 00 later.
Vehicle stalled while driving @ 40-45 mph on us41. Vehicle completely locked up. Batteries replaced more than 4x . Ford galloway fort myers , florida refuses to fix wants me to keep replacing batteries. Vehicle being repaired for over 6-7 months. Dangerous vehicle almost killed me. From 12/2006-5/2007 vehicle has died on me every month several times during the month. Dealer still has vehicle.
While driving down a steep grade, engine cut out and set a ses code. Had a hard time getting the SUV to stop and almost lost control of vehicle, but due to the slow nature of driving I kept it under control with 8 occupants in SUV. Once stopped, I got out code reader and found out that the cps (cam position sensor) had failed. I had a spare in the SUV and replaced it. Contacted Ford main office and they have known it to be a problem with the diesels and nothing is being done to get a recall or replacement part to fix cps problem.
Cps failed on 2000 Ford 7. 3l diesel.
I have a 2001 Excursion and the driver's side seat belt pops free by it's self several times during a couple of hours of driving. Dealer said it wasn't covered. I also had the windows & door locks stop working back in 2006. It needed a new gem module and some fuse panel work (due to a leak in the windshield seal from the factory). I finally saved up enough money to get everything fixed-- roughly $1100. 00. The rep. From the window company said he has seen several like this himself.
I have a 2003 Ford Excursion v-10. This vehicle is equipped with adjustable foot pedals which routinely stop working, sometimes in the fully retracted position. When this happens the drivers seat also does not work, making the vehicle un-driveable for my wife whose reach is considerably shorter than mine. Fords solution to this problem is to replace the seat at an out-of-pocket cost starting at about $800. 00, instead of tracing the bad wire or faulty control module. Internet research has shown me that this problem is apparently prevalent in the larger Ford SUV's manufactured from 2003-2006. I feel this defect should be corrected in a factory recall and not at the expense of vehicle owners when the problem is clearly faulty exuipment / design. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
On route 228 I was going about 45 mph. My truck just stopped, everything turned off steering was locked I put it in park ank had to make two attempts to start my truck up again the batterry light blinked and went off.
I have a 99 Ford expedition. Tail lights, brake lights, hazard lights, and rear wiper works when they want to work. Taken it to service shop, cannot duplicate problem. Take it bake when it does it again, shop replaces junction box (fuse box). It is happening again as I write this, and is not working again. Shop doesn't seem to know the problem.

4 a. M. We heard a loud noise. Woke up to see what it was and our 2000 Ford Excursion was in flames. At that time the fire was consentrated under the hood on left side. The left tire was already in flames. Vehicle was totally destroyed by the time the fire depatment arrived to put it out. Which took about 10-15 minutes. The only problems we had was the cruise control had recently quit working.
While driving/idling, smoke would come out from the driver side taillights compartment. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined. Please provide more information. The consumer stated that the dealership did not offer to repair the damage nor look into what caused the problem. The consumer opened the trunk and saw smoke and fire around the lock area. The consumer was able to put the fire out. The wires and plastic insert and bulb that lights up license plate was the cause.
At 76000 miles the spark plug blew out of my v10 Excursion. The Excursion is a 2000 model year and in very good condition. The plugs have never been changed since new. Ford will not fix it as it is out of warranty and the warranty company, (heritage insurance) will not cover it as they say it is a defect with the design of the head and plugs from Ford. They say there is not enough threads in the head design. This seems to be echoed on the internet in many forums and other articles. Appearently Ford knows about this and still does nothing, except chage their customers thousands to fix the problem. Furthermore the fix of replacing the head is not a permenant solution.
Recently purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion. Blew spark plug right out of head. Took back to dealer where I purchased it. They put in a heil coil. 5 months later same thing happened only different spark plug. Took to Ford. Told it was going to cost me 3500. 00 to replace new head. Did some research online, this is a very common problem with 1996-present Ford trucks and even Ford mustangs. Ford is refusing to acknowledge the problem. Meantime everyone who it happens to usually ends up shelling out $3000. 00 plus.
Experience problems with door locks on my 2000 Ford Excursion. Excursions has same type of electrical problem.
The consumer request reimbursement for recalled firestone steeltex tires. There was a shimmy when the vehicle was shimmying and the rotors were machined, the vehicle was hard to turn and was aligned in the front, the power locks were inoperative and the batteries needed to be replaced. (steeltex radial a/t lt265/75r16 lrd).
Lound popping noise coming from motor. Towed to Ford delership. Spark plug blown out of head. $4,000. 00 to fix. In shop now. Hands are tied with no other possible solution. 2000 Ford Excursion v-10 motor.
2000 Ford Excursion caught on fire while parked. ** answer required***. The consumer home also caught on fire because the vehicle was parked in the garage when the fire erupted.
Ford Excursion 2002, blew out spark plug through piston cap,. . After $5000. 00 in fixes, I went to pick it up, and it blew up again on the way home from the dealership. I lost power on the freeway going 65 miles per hour, and almost crashed. Ford was not at all helpful, and even though I am a very good customer, could care less about me, the danger of the v10 engine blow ups, or about their customers lives. . . . Is their any way you guys could make them do the right thing ??? isn't there any law or organization that can help us ??? (per 10/24/2005 phone call with consumer: no crash, no injuries, no fire, no property damage other than engine damage - c. Rose).
Dealership has refused to repair ( warranty ) my 4 month old 2003 Ford Excursion. The door locks do not work, the roof leaks, the hood is crooked. The cruise control sticks and the truck accelerates but when the off button is pushed the engine dies. The paint has 100,000 rust particles in the finish, the primer is showing through the white paint in places on the truck, strange noise when the truck is first started.
Loud missing noise comming from engine and loss of power. Problem found was # 4 spark plug on pass side of engine had blown out and was laying on top of engine. It damaged threads in alum head and coil pack. Spark plugs have never been changed. Factory defect during build. Ford dealers contacted and could offer no assitance.
Electrical socket inside the vehicle will come on and off intermittently.
While driving vehicle lost electrical power. When vehicle was jump started the electrical components were inoperative.
My 2000 Ford diesel Excursion caught on fire from the dash, stereo area. There had been no prior warning nor any kind of problems at all with this vehicle. There were no defaults at the time it was bought. Everything worked and was in great condition and was kept that way.
The vehicle has a front suspension problem which causes the vehicle to vibrate, the vehicle has been to the dealer 3 times but the problem still exist, both driver side doors are misaligned with respect to the fender trim, the differential was originally misaligned with respect to the rear fender trims, now the differential is properly aligned and the consumer questioned the technicians who stated that they did nothing to correct the misalignment, the consumer feels this is a definite safety problem if the differential goes in and out of alignment on is own, the a/c was not cooling and needed to be recharged, the consumer can hear static in radio when turning on the rear tv switch, a/c and turn signal, steering gear and hydro boost line replaced, tire out of balanced causing vibration at 75-70 mph, steering out of adjustment (off center), calipers replaced, transmission experiencing a delay when shifting, both wiper blades off center, drain plug leaking oil, weather stripping on right rear door failed, headliner is coming loose on the left side, windshield washers inoperative, fuel gauge read incorrectly, faulty accelerator pedal caused the vehicle to stall when coming to a stop. Nlm.
Excursion was bought 7-01 approximately 3months after purchase head lamp switch broke off. Took truck into dealer and was told this was not covered under warranty and would be 190. 00 to fix. Upon research found that the 2000 model Excursion had a recall for this same problem [NHTSA recall no. 01v075/Ford recall no. 01s09] the part no. For the 2000 and 2001 has been replaced. It would be logical to me if the part number for the 2000 Excursion and the 2001 Excursion are the same then they both should be recalled. In addition the passenger front and side door do not lock when internal button is depressed. The interior lights do not shut off if the back hatch is opened and moisture is present. Drivers seat is stuck does not go forward or back, motor works seat will not move.
The vehicle experienced electrical and suspension problems. The suspension problem caused the tires to wear prematurely. Please provide any additional information.
