I have owned by 2000 Ford Excursion with the triton 5. 4 for 3 years. I have barely put 20,000 miles on it. It know has 110,000 mi. When the spark plug blew on it. I was driving down the road when I heard a loud popping noise and then sputtering. I had to have it towed to my mechanic and had a costly repair done. As I have done research on it this is a ongoing problem with Fords because of the design flaw in the head. I am very disappointed to find out Ford has not recalled this. There is thousands of complaints with the same problem. Ford are you listening? when are you going to do something about this? if this is not recalled soon I will be trading this in and buying a chevy or a Honda. No more Fords for me.
While driving about 25 mph, the engine stalled and I lost steering control. Luckily no other cars were approaching because I was making a left turn on to a busy street. Very dangerous. The stall has also occurred at least 5 other times, usually when decelerating when coming to a stop light. Today, the abs light came on, then I heard a click and all the gauges lost power, the radio display went out. I could not restart the vehicle - only heard a click sound. After waiting an hour, the vehicle started. Batteries have already been replaced by dealership a couple months ago. It was in the shop because under aggressive acceleration, the glow plug light would come on and there was no power. Sensor replaced along with batteries. Problem occurred again when driving it home from the shop. Talked to Ford and they do not seem concerned about potentially dangerous problems that dealership can not fix.

I have a 2001 Ford Excursion with 52,000 miles. I was 2 blocks from home when I heard this loud pop, then this loud clapping noise from under the hood. I immediately shut the vehicle off and had it towed to the dealership that I purchased it from and have had all the regular maintenence done at. (morrie's buffalo Ford, buffalo, mn) the 3rd spark plug on the rh side of the engine blewout, and took the cylinder head threads with it. $3000 to repair. The Ford inspector refused to admit fault on Ford's part, yet the service manager at the dealership told me that the plug blowout was no fault of mine. Purchased an additional $2000 bumper to bumper extended warranty that wouldn't cover it either. It is still at the dealership as I'm trying to figure out how to get Ford motor company to take responsibility for a faulty product and fix like they should. I have filed a formal complaint with the Ford motor company. I've also been doing some pretty heavy research over the last week, and have found hundreds of identical incidents. It's about time Ford is forced to be responsible.
