Medical attention was not required. A police report was filed under complaint number: 170606882. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. Vehicle converted to stretch limousine by imperial coach in springfield, mo. The method of conversion caused the side curtain airbags to be permanently disabled causing the vehicle to constantly display the airbag light on the dashboard. This conversion also hampered the traction control requiring the driver to turn off traction control prior to operating the vehicle to avoid difficulty maneuvering around turns. These operating deficiencies are only on the vehicle with VIN# 1fmjk1f52aea14943. We were aware of the situation when we purchased the vehicle however, we have sold the vehicle "as is" at auction but it appears that it is being "flipped" by several owners. We are concerned for the safety of this vehicle with an unknowing operator.

Air bag light keeps coming on and off while driving. Dealer can only check if it is on at time brought in no luck yet but why is it faulty. Ford will not cover to look at so frustrated laws need to change on airbags and warranties. Im told it is only covered in the first 36000 miles anyway.
The first occurrence was the transmission slipping on acceleration and stopping or going up hill. Its been to our Ford dealer where we purchased it and at first they felt it and said they fixed it but now everytime I take it in for that or the ac blower going off and on they say they don't feel or see anything it gotten ridiculous. In the freeway I-10 me and my son were trying to accelerate on and almost got hit by a semi truck the vehicle would not go fast enough. I wont bother with the dealership here in town they don't care. It has happened many times and now the air bag light goes off and on in temperature change it seems like. Our dealer fixed the door handle but now any rain the inside of our door fills with water and they say its not there fault and wont fix that either. Very disappointed with Ford. Spoke to them about the air bag and they also say they wont fix. We have had nothing but problems with this 40000 SUV very dangerous to drive and its suppose to be a family vehicle. . . . Right we get no update or recalls info and our dealership is the worst I've ever dealt with.

We first noticed a problem when it was raining. The airbag light would intermittently come on. Then we also started to notice that the heater / a/c fan would continue to run after the vehicle was shut off. On Sunday 4/30/06, I was driving in the rain on a freeway & the wiper light started to come on & the airbag light was on. Every once in a while, the wipers would not work properly. On my way home, again on the freeway in the rain, the wiper light & the 4x4 light would flash off & on at the same time & again, the at times the wipers would not work properly. The next morning as I drove to work, again in the rain, only the 4x4 light was flashing & the rear wiper would not work. Also, the front wipers did not work intermittently. I specificity recall turning the heater fan off that morning before leaving the vehicle. After work, I attempted to unlock my vehicle w/the remote unlock & it would not unlock. I manually unlocked the vehicle & the dash lights were on. It looked like I had not turned the key off all of the way, but I did! and the vehicle would not start. I had to walk a couple of miles to my husband's work & he had to take his lunch early to bring me home. Ford had better get a recall out on this. Not only is it very inconvenient, but when your wipers don't work in the rain, it is very dangerous!!!
I had to get the vehicle towed the next day. After the repair facility sent 2 1/2 days trying to determine the source of the problem, they discovered that water was leaking by the windshield onto the gem module & the fuse panel. Not only do I have to pay $477 for the parts only, I also have to pay to have the windshield resealed. What a joke!!.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the air bag indicator light was defective for a second time in a two-year period. The light remained illuminated at all times and was noticed while driving 5 mph. The air bags were replaced in February of 2006, but the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the failure was not under warranty and that the contact would have to pay for the repair. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 87,035 and failure mileage was 27,096.
I own a 2000 Ford Expedition and in 2003 and now I have had the airbag light on because the airbag harness is defective on the passengers side. The cost is $390. 00 to repair and $70. 00 to do a diagnostic test each time.
The air bag light continuously illuminated on the dashboard. As a result, the air bags were inoperative, and wouldn't deploy when needed. The manufacturer has been contacted but is unwilling to send a representative to look at the problem. The consumer also spoke with the dealer about corrosion on the doors.
I own 1997 Ford Expedition 4. 6l 2wd and have had a few instances where I think water has leaked through the windshield. The water is leaking somewhere on the driver side. It is causing the radio to turn on and stay on without the keys in the ignition. It also causes the airbag light to come on so I do not know if there is a real problem or not. The windshield washer fluid light comes on also. I am afraid this might trigger some extremely dangerous reaction while driving if the wrong thing gets wet. I would have it fixed but I do not know what is wrong with it. I told the dealer but they could not figure it out because it dried and stopped. This has happened a few times in the last twelve months. I have read on this site I am not the only one with this problem. I do not have the money to replace all the molding and glass. Please help.

The airbag indicator light when on and according to manual it said to bring it in to the dealer. They check it out and found that it was a side impact airbag sensor. This car does not have a have a side impact bag. We were informed that even though we dont have side bag, the front bags would not work because of the way Ford programmed the airbags. I searched the internet and found several others with the same problem with their air bag indictor light. I believe this false indictor could be fatal if not relsoved in a timing manner.
Consumer states that when starting up the vehicle the vehicle tends to jump forward and/or jump into neutral when comping to a stop. On seperate occasions the vehicle has hit other vehicles and also has hit people walking in front of the vehicle. Nlm dealer replaced transmission but problem still exists. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was involved in an accident, causing the air bag light to come on. Consumer states there is a bad odor coming from the a/c unit. Dealer drained a/c unit, but problem still exist. Consumer states that rear window is leaking.
Air bag light will intermittently come on and off. Since 2000, the consumer has taken the vehicle back to the dealer at least twice a year, for this problem, each time the dealer would re-route wires, but problem is reoccurring.
Computer system that controls the airbags is defective and must be replaced at my expense due to warranty. . . We were warned that the airbag won't deploy in an accident or may deploy at anytime. Upon calling Ford motor company they told me that there was nothing that they would do. I feel that this part should not have gone bad this fast, and that I should not have to absorb the whole cost of the repair, which was estimated at $350. 00. If I wanted the part shipped overnight it would cost another 15% extra. Thank you for any help you can provide. The airbag light flashed off and on and then stayed on. When I took it in to the dealer they charged me $60 for an analysis and then said the computer part was bad. Thank you.
While driving the air bag light intermittently comes on. Dealer has treid to remedy this problem several times.

On Dec. 08, 2005 the washer fluid like blinked rapidly and loudly from what sounded to be a relay under the dash. The airbag light came on and the speedometer stopped working. The dealer advised me that the truck was attempting to start itself. Dealer rep name is gary wells at bondy's Ford in dothan, al.
Driver lost control of vehicle, ran off the road into an embankment and driver was ejected out of vehicle. The airbag didn't deploy. Also, transmission shift indicator has a lot of play and is off when selecting a gear.
