I was turning left in an intersection going about 5-10 mph, a car ran a light and hit the passenger side at a speed of approximately 50 mph. The back door, front door, and front panel were affected. The front wheel fell off. My vehicle was moved sideways about 10+ feet. No airbags deployed. I would expect the passenger side airbags to have been deployed even though no one was in that seat. Please provide information. Thank you.

Side airbags spontaneously deployed while driving down the highway. I stopped the vehicle safely and no apparent injury to myself or passenger except for possible hearing loss due to the loud bang on deployment. I used a knife to cut the bags away from the front side windows then continued driving.
Side air bag in driver seat deployed while vehicle was started and in park without any collision or impact of any type. Vehicle was stationary and had been running less than 30-45 seconds and driver was reaching for seat belt when air bag exploded with enough force to cause a hand laceration and torn collateral ligament.

Was driving down interstate highway and a car next to me swerve sideways into my lane right into my path had nowhere to go. My car left front side of my vehicle and center struck the other vehicles right side. My passengers side airbag went off but my drivers side did not. There was no passenger in my front seat.
Driving on a paved road in a school zone when at approximately 5 pm, when side airbags deployed. The bags deployed deflated. I was near a residential neighborhood so I pulled off the road and exited the vehicle. I was not hit nor did I hit anyone to cause the bags to deploy.
Was pulling out onto the highway and road was clear when checked then a car came speeding down the highway without lights and I wasn't able to get out of the way in time and that car swerved in the same direction I was going and hit my front driver side of my car. . . My car is supposedly equipped with front and side airbags but with the impact, as bad as it was, did not deploy either sets of airbags. The impact caused me to hit my head on the window and end up with a concussion. My car is only a 2007. Faulty airbags?!.

In heavy local traffic when traffic came to a sudden stop. Applied brakes but was unable to stop in time. Rear-ended a Dodge ram pickup truck. Passenger side air bag deployed but driver side did not deploy. Suffered neck and back soft tissue injuries. Expedition was totaled by insurance company. Information supplied by legal representative.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph the side air bags deployed without any warnings. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 159,000.
I was driving down a main street when a car comes out from a residential street infront of me, I had no braking distance time but still hit my brakes and veered to the right trying to make it into the residential street the car came out of to miss hitting the car, but instead hit the corner wall at 45mph. The passenger side air bag deployed but mine did not resulting in head injury. My head hit the windshield so hard I kept blacking out, luckily my 1yr old passenger (my son) only had red marks on his neck from the car seat straps.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. While the unoccupied vehicle was parked with the engine in operation, both front driver and passenger side air bags deployed unexpectedly without any impact to the vehicle. The contact entered the vehicle and turned the engine off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where both air bags were replaced at the owner's expense. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Driver side curtain air bag deployed. After returning to the parked vehicle, I shut the driver’s side door, inserted the key to start the vehicle and the instant I turned the key the driver’s side curtain air bag went off, causing a massive abrasion on the top surface of my left arm.

My wife drove her 2004 Ford Expedition over a speed bump in a county park when the side curtain airbags deployed.
Hello, I am writing to you about my vehicle. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition and we were traveling out of town to north carolina Sunday 8/22/2010 when I was about 10 minutes away from my destination & all of a sudden we heard a loud sound & a lot of pressure hit us in the chest. The truck then begins to fill up with smoke. I pulled over not knowing what had just happened, we then noticed that the side curtain air bags had deployed. I did not hit anyone nor did anyone hit us. I then called 911 & ask for the police to come out & give me a police report and he refused to give me one. I took my truck to malcolm cunningham Ford & they said that it was nothing that they could do for me but to put it on a censor machine & find out why they deployed. They then told me that my car insurance would be responsible for this & the insurance company said that it was a maintenance issue & not there problem. I called Ford corporation & the only thing that they told me was they could just put in a claim but there was nothing else that they could do unless someone die or was severely injured. Well all 3 of us were injured in this incident. I need help in this matter. I am now out of a truck that I am still paying on & liberty mutual insurance will not pay for me a rental and I have full coverage insurance. Everywhere I turn everyone is turning me down, likes it my fault. This has caused me pain, suffering, emotional stress and not to mention time off work. If someone could help in assisting me with this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Regards, x.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. While the contact was driving approximately 30 mph, the side curtain air bags inadvertently deployed on all four doors without impact. There was no personal injury. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician informed that the complete air bag system would need to be replaced at the cost of $4,214. 65. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 67,454.
My side curtain air bags deployed for no reason. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer and they said they could not do anything about it because it is out of warranty. The 5 year safety restraint warranty ended a 1 month ago. The service manager inspected the vehicle and ran a diagnostic test and said there is no reason they should have gone off. They are lucky my wife was only in a parking lot when it happened or somebody might have been killed. The service manager said he was in touch with detroit and they said not to fix it. I have owned several Fords and never had any problems but this is just stupid.
Immaculate side airbag deployment both sides which driving. No bump or accident.
For no reason, while driving my vehicle the passenger side air bag deployed.
While driving on vacation on vancouver island near victoria, the driver side air bag deployed for no apparent reason. We were uninjured and drove to the Ford dealer in victoria. No reason was found for the deployment and the system was deactivated by the dealer. It is still inactivated.
Driving on side road doing about 30 to 35 my side air bag curtains deployed. Sounded like a gun went off and white powder came out, took to Ford said cant find anything wrong, but charge me 250 dollars to tell me the code show air bag deploy, about 5 months late the seat belt pretensioner went off while sitting in a parking lot, same noise and powder, Ford said not their problem.
This event occurred December 2008. We were heading to a dinner, pulled onto george bush turnpike from hwy 114 in irving, TX. The roadway is flat, our speed was accelerating to get onto the freeway from an entrance ramp. As we were merging onto gb turnpike we heard a loud bang, our side curtain airbags deployed. . . . For no reason. We were shocked. At first we thought maybe someone hit us. We even thought maybe someone shot at our vehicle, then we realized the airbags had deployed. Fortunately, neither of us were sitting with our heads or arms near the windows to be injured by the deployment. We contacted our insurance company, however they told us that since there was no accident they could do nothing for us. We contacted our local Ford dealer the next day. They said they had never heard of such a thing, so we set up an appointment for them to look at our vehicle. They called a representative from Ford to come and inspect it. Based on the reading by the "computer", it indicated that our vehicle had encountered an "impending roll-over". We disputed this because there was no such impending rollover, nor was there any swerving, anything that could have even been considered something to have caused this situation. Ford would do nothing because the computer indicated there was an impending rollover it was deemed our fault, not a faulty computer. We contact Ford corporate, they treated us as though we were just people wanting something for nothing. We wanted our vehicle repaired due to their faulty equipment. They would not relent, the computer indicated it was our fault, therefore as far as they were concerned was. We sent our complaint to your organization the first part of 2009, there was never any action taken. Since this occurrence we have heard of this same issue with other vehicles. Now, the government has stepped in due to these problems, we would like to have our vehicle placed in with the recall with the f150's to have it repaired.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. While driving approximately 68 mph, the contact heard an explosion and the side air bags suddenly deployed without a crash or impact. The failure occurred without warning. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road without incident. The vehicle was then towed to his residence. The contact was in the process of having the vehicle towed to the dealer. The manufacturer has not yet been notified. The current and failure mileages were approximately 75,000.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. While driving approximately 35 mph, the side air bags spontaneously deployed without cause. The dealer could not identify the cause of the failure and refused to pay for the repair. The manufacturer advised the contact to call her insurance company. The failure and current mileages were 106,000. Updated 12-02-08 updated 12/02/08.
I am driving a 2006 Ford Expedition. The other morning, I put my child in the car seat behind the drivers seat. I half entered the car to turn on the engine, as it was chilly out. About 5-10 seconds after turning the car on, I heard a huge explosion. Sounded as if a rifle had been shot next to my head. The baby went nuts. I looked around, and the side airbags had deployed. This was the first time I had turned the car on that day. Luckily no one was hurt. If it had happened on my side, it would have slammed into me pretty good, as well as my child. The dealership I bought it from made me pay to have it driven to them and the rental car. They would not drive it themselves for fear of another air bag deploying while they were driving. This is of course why I wouldn't drive it either. My car is out of warranty. They are insisting I pay for the repair. It is $2500. I think this is a serious situation and am concerned it could happen again, maybe while I am driving. The dealership said since no one was hurt in this instance it wasn't there problem. Do I have any recourse? sincerely, jennifer vestal.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. While the contact's spouse was driving approximately 30 mph, another vehicle struck the driver's side corner of her vehicle. Only the passenger side air bag deployed. His wife sustained minor injuries; however, the insurance company stated that the vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The current and failure mileages were 54,000.
While I was driving down the interstate with a family member and some friends both side curtain airbags deployed simultaneously for no reason. It was like a gun went off next to our ears. Due to the odor and dust in the vehicle we rolled down our windows to avoid inhaling the powdery substance. I am amazed we didn't wreck. We were traumatized by the intensity of the incident. Many of us had ringing in our ears for sometime and I had chest pains for the rest of the evening. Words really cannot describe how terrifying it was. We tried to figure out what may have been the reason for the deployment. There was no reason whatsoever that gave cause to the deployment. There were no other cars around us, we didn't bump into anything nor did anything bump into us. It scared me so bad that I had my husband and son come pick me up from a friends house because I was afraid the front airbag might go off and didn't want to take that risk.
While driving on smooth paved road, pow!! side curtain airbags on passenger and driver side deployed. I did not swerve, hit a pothole or any type of impact they just popped out and scared me to death! I have had the vehicle towed to local Ford dealership where car was purchased. I have not heard back from them yet.
Unexpected side curtain airbags deployed while driving on the highway without any abrupt side movement of the vehicle. These airbags deployed while traveling straight at a constant rate of speed (65mhh) on the highway. This caused a significant explosive noise in the vehicle and resulted in the driver and passenger being disoriented for a few seconds. This occurred in a 2003 Ford Expedition with 65k miles and no modifications or previous damage on the vehicle. The dealership scanned the vehicle computer which showed the vehicle experienced an impending rollover causing the airbag deployment. The computer malfunctioned and the Ford dealership nor Ford will repair this damage to the airbags and headliner.
- the contact was driving on the highway at 75 mph. Simultaneously the airbags on the right front and rear side door, as well as, the left front door and rear front door deployed. Before incident contact did not have any prior notification regarding his airbags. He did get a warning light regarding his airbags after the incident. If needed contact can provide pictures of hid deployed airbags.
I have a 2001 Ford Expedition with optional side air bags. While I was sitting in the front passenger seat my side air bag deployed as the driver started the car. Nothing was done yet to correct the failure.
: the contact stated while driving 70 mph and pulling a trailer, the vehicle hit a pothole, lost control, crashed into a guard rail and flipped over. The side air bags did not deploy. Two people sustained minor injuries, and a police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard, and deemed totaled.
I was involved in a head-on accident on 9/29/05. My 2003 Expedition has been totaled by my insurance. The passenger side air bag deployed but the driver's side did not deploy. The point of impact was the front center of the car with the majority of the damage to the front driver's side. I have made 3 separate phone calls to Ford's complaint department, as of today no return calls from Ford have been received.
Consumer vehicle was t-bone by another vehicle at 40-45 mph, all occupants was restrained in their seat belts and no injury was reported. The impact occurred in the middle of the SUV on the passenger side. None of the side air bags deployed. The insurance company had the vehicle towed to the body shop. The manufacturer was notified, but the cause of the problem had not been determined at his time.
Both roof air bags inadvertently deployed while driving on the highway at 65 mph, under normal weather/driving conditions. The cruise control was engaged when the failure occurred. The cruise control disengaged its' self several times prior to the failure. Took the vehicle to the dealer, where they tucked the air bags, and the consumer continued to travel. Manufacturer stated they will repair if a defect is found. Cruise control did not work at times on the consumers vehicle.
