2 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2018 Ford Expedition

Tl-the contact leased a 2018 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his spouse was driving the vehicle at 10-15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop. The vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. There was no injuries sustained by either drivers. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven from the scene to the residence. The contact stated that the abs warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle to the residence, the brake pedal was depressed several times and went to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to bill brown Ford located at 32222 Plymouth rd, livonia, mi 48150, (734) 399-4244, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated in the four months since the crash, the vehicle has remained at the dealer due to the abs module and software not being available to have the vehicle repaired. 3 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled as the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pushed over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a sensor next to the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic or repaired of the failure. 4 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

Anti-lock brake system activated while driving on interstate with cruse control set at 65 mph, causing uncontrolled stop in moving traffic without warning. Never had any previous problems with abs system. The abs warning light was not on (and is still not on). Ford's customer relations center suggested I take my vehicle to a Ford dealership for to determine the cause of this problem. They also said there are no warranties, recalls or programs that would provide coverage for this critical safety issue with the abs system. Before I do anything else to my vehicle I wanted to notify NHTSA first.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the brake pedal dropped to the floorboard as there was a loss of braking capability. The contact stated that the abs warning light also illuminated and the emergency brakes had to be used in order to stop the vehicle. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. The contact stated the hydraulic control module failed twice in the past year. The brake pedal was depressed abnormally into the floorboard and the contact had to pump the brakes before getting a response. The second time the failure recurred, the abs light illuminated on the instrument panel before the failure. The failure mileage was 43,588 and the current mileage was 65,505.

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the anti-lock brake system (abs) activated without warning and caused an abnormal increase in stopping distance. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer performed a diagnostic but was unable to locate a failure code. The vehicle was also test driven and the technician was unable to recreate the failure. The transmission and brake pads were replaced but the failure was not corrected. The abs light continued to activate independently and without warning. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 07e105000 (service brakes, air: antilock: control unit/module front brake pads). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

10 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1997 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/20/2008

Initially, while applying the brakes on dry pavement, the abs would engage intermittently. The front brakes were replaced after this happened. Unfortunately, it continued to occur intermittently. After which, the abs light would light up. The rear abs sensor was replaced and it still continued to happen, but the brake pedal would be hard initially but could be pushed through. A bearing was replaced on the frontend. The abs would continue to engage randomly. Now, after the vehicle has been driven, then sat for 15-30 minutes, and then driven again, the abs will engage--but then the brake pedal is very hard and difficult to push. The abs light comes on. Our mechanic is now using his "tech hotline" to learn how to fix this.

11 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. The contact took his vehicle to the dealer to have the abs warning light checked. The mechanic discovered a sensor in the rear driver side tire. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be repaired; however, no repairs were made. The mechanic advised him to bring the vehicle in the following day and the oil was changed at that time. The mechanic stated that he would order the parts for the repair. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, he was informed that the failure had been resolved. However, approximately nine miles down the road, the traction control and abs lights illuminated. Later that afternoon, the contact called the mechanic and they cleaned some grease from around the wheel hub. The mechanic stated that if the failure persists, he will order more new parts. The mechanic picked up the vehicle to install the new parts, but the failure recurred on June 4, 2008. The failure mileage was 3,000 and current mileage was 5,000. Updated 07/08/08. Updated.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition. While driving at an unknown speed, the traction control light illuminated by itself. The vehicle began swerving back and forth. The contact had to tap the brakes a few times in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the cause was a faulty yaw valve and they replaced the component. Two days later, the light illuminated again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that the failure was repaired. Once the contact retrieved the vehicle, the failure recurred. The vehicle is currently back at the dealer for the same failure. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 3,400.

While driving consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Abs braking light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determine dthat the abs brake module needed to be replaced.

When pushing on the brake pedal it took an extra twenty feet to stop. It felt like it was on ice. The dealer inspected the brakes and found no defects, and the computer showed nothing. The brakes would get hard and the calipers were clicking. When the vehicle had gone over bumps, the abs light would appear on the dash. The vehicle would be turned off and back on and the light would go off.

Abs system malfunctioned resulting in accident; on dry pavement, abs took braking control but did not apply braking energy to the brakes (only slight braking) despite standing on brake pedal; abs light was not on at the time; after accident same problem (abs in control, no light, no braking) but after repeated hard hits to the brake pedal the abs light came on disengaging the abs system, allowing normal braking; problem repeated once later in day; next day when taking vehicle to Ford dealer problem would not repeat; had three computer abs codes which they could not resolve with Ford hotline; they cleared codes; problem would not repeat; charged me for the diagnostics (not under warranty) and told me to bring it back when it repeats; have sent you a copy of my letter to Ford.

20 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

At very slow speeds brakes do not function properly--brake pedal goes to floor, vibrates as if abs is operating and vehicle slowly coasts to a stop, resulting in extended stopping distance. Abs light goes on. Both left and right front abs sensors replaced and incidents still occurred.
