When shifted into park the "park" function wouldn't engage, therefore the vehicle never registered as in park. Making the remote start not function and the warning chimes continuously ding marking a malfunction and the door locks would not engage correctly. So I never knew if the vehicle was actually in park or would roll. I engaged my parking brake every time I parked just in case the vehicle wasn't in actual park mode. I took the vehicle to my dealership for repair on 8/15/25 and the gear shift was completely replaced to remedy the issue. Costing me approximately $1,200. There were no warning lights to alert me, only the door chiming faster and differently, marking the error occurring. The problem was first noticed in may 2025, but not diagnosed until August 2025, when we had the finances to get the repair completed. The vehicles jerks when shifting, pops out of gear while driving, takes a long time to find the next gear, is delayed when doing from r to d. Yesterday, 05/14/2025, I took a left turn and drove maybe . 2 of a mile and the car jerked very hard and popped out of gear. The car slowed down to almost a complete stop before it finally found a gear and I could accelerate. My children and I were in the car, I was afraid it was going to stall out and we would be sitting in the middle of the road and get hit. The road we were on had no shoulder. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it was the most severe.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the powertrain control module (pcm), which manages engine-transmission communication and regulates cooling system performance, malfunctioned, resulting in a cascade of related failures: transmission system: delayed shifting, hesitation, and eventually a “transmission stuck in park” code. Cooling system: repeated overheating that led to a ruptured radiator. These issues stem from the faulty pcm referenced in Ford recall 24e13, issued on April 25, 2025. Yes, the failed components remain in the possession of harbin motor company in scottsboro, al, where the vehicle is still located. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this vehicle was operated while exhibiting documented powertrain and overheating symptoms—including while transporting children. Harbin Ford repeatedly instructed continued use despite: diagnostic scans on April 10, 2025 confirming pcm-related failures including “transmission stuck in park” and overheating. A coolant leak that occurred without warning lamps, leading to the radiator bursting. These failures put occupants at serious risk of breakdown or fire, especially in high-traffic or high-temperature driving conditions. Operating a vehicle with a malfunctioning pcm increases the likelihood of gear slippage, sudden deceleration, or complete transmission failure. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The issue has been repeatedly confirmed by harbin motor company, an authorized Ford dealer: on April 10, 2025, a scan identified “transmission stuck in park,” overheating, and a third unidentified code. On may 15, 2025, the service manager craig davis confirmed the transmission had an internal issue requiring a full rebuild and located a coolant leak. These confirmations were documented via servi.

Component/system that failed: the 10r80 automatic transmission is malfunctioning. It causes harsh shifting, delayed acceleration, hesitation, and unpredictable surging. These issues have been confirmed as part of Ford’s internal TSB 23-2250, which directly references this transmission defect. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: this transmission failure poses a serious safety risk. The hesitation and delay in acceleration occur during merging, turning, and highway driving, which can cause near misses and sudden loss of power. The delayed response time compromises my ability to move safely through traffic. Reproduced/confirmed: yes. The issue was confirmed by liberty Ford in fayetteville, nc, after I paid for a diagnostic. The service department acknowledged the symptoms but refused to cover the diagnosis or repair under warranty since no recall was showing under my VIN. Inspected by others: the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer directly or by law enforcement or insurance. However, it was diagnosed and documented by an authorized Ford dealership (liberty Ford in fayetteville nc). Warning lamps or symptoms: there were no warning lamps or error codes. The symptoms began subtly but became consistent over time. The first noticeable event was approximately in “early 2025”, with increased severity since then. I submitted a written complaint to Ford on June 9, 2025, via usps priority mail (tracking #[xxx]) and also filed a certified safety complaint with NHTSA (tracking #[xxx]) but have received no response. I am requesting formal investigation and recall action. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

We had been driving for 3 hours and was in an extremely busy area in houston, TX. While entering another highway in extremely congested area the transmission shifted out of gear into neutral engine revved and shut down. After about 3 -5 seconds it kicked hard into gear and continues on our way. This has happened several times in the past and was taken in previously for same problem. By being in congested traffic and with cars speeding around and honking horns it was a tense moment. Reported to dealer and transmission was dismantled and a part replaced in the transmission. Still don't feel comfortable with the transmission. Prior to this incident there were no immediate warning signs.

Sunroof explosion with zero impact.
The rear back up camera has recently been glitching and most times has a solid blue screen when car is in reverse. It was in for diagnostics, report came back stating: verified customer concern; screen turns blue when vehicle is placed in reverse. Retrieved cmdtc b115e 08 stored current in ipmb. Verified gear selected matches commanded data in ipmb. Removed and tested circuit with known good camera, and rear view image works each time vehicle is placed in reverse, confirming circuit is good.
Sunroof explosion while driving on the highway. Loud bang rattled the driver and passenger. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, but it could have been catastrophic for our vehicle and the vehicles around us if control was not maintained. Our Ford dealer said he has heard of sunroof explosions before. Dealership has the vehicle and is awaiting authorization to repair. Allstate insurance is also involved. There was no warning anything was wrong. This vehicle was bought brand new (1 owner) and is now 5 years old, has run great and has been properly maintained at our local Ford dealership.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph and hauling a trailer attached to the tow hitch, the trailer suddenly detached from the vehicle. The trailer hitch had fractured due to extensive rust. The dealer was contacted and informed about the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

Back-up camera, the back over prevention: sensing system: camera only works intermittently. I'm being told me vehicle is not part of the current recall in the 2015 Expedition that was issued in April 2025, yet my vehicle (a 2015 Expedition) is experiencing the problems detailed in the recall. Why isn't my vehicle part of this recall, shouldn't the recall be expanded to all 2015 Expeditions experiencing problems with faulty back-up cameras?.

Purchased this vehicle back in December. Dealaer never disclosed recall information associated with this vehicle. There was a stop sale doc sent out November for affected vehicles. However we were still sold this vehicle. I thought it was federally prohibited to sell a new vehicle which tallahassee Ford did. They sold me this vehicle with no fix in sight. And now there's a 2nd recall. So not sure what we can do.

Transmission had to be rebuilt due to known bushings problem with 10 speed Expedition transmission. I had to pay over 5k.
The rear door latch failed. It was 8 degrees, and the door latch would not latch shut after opening the rear door.

When it is below freezing and there is snow/condensation on the door windows the door lock can get stuck/frozen closed. Many times the door will unlock and open to get in but once I get to my destination I can't get the door open to get out of my car. This has happened on all the doors at different times. We get stuck and I have to crawl out another door that will unlock. There isn't a way to manually pull the door unlocked because the knob goes into a hole so you can't pull it up. Also, sometimes when I run remote start the door will not unlock and open to get into the car. I also have children in car seats, this would be a major safety issue in an emergency if we couldn't get out.
We bought our vehicle brand new 2 days ago. This morning the panoramic sunroof exploded and shattered.
At 60k miles the car started making noises when I start it. I took it in and they said it was the timing chain. Also my engine light keeps coming on and it says emissions error. I have purchased several Fords and I don’t plan on major repairs every 5 years. Especially the day it goes out of warranty. Apparently the timing chain is a big problem according to the repair company at around 5 years on these Expeditions.
Just bought this 2023 Ford Expedition it was used, within 1 hour of owning it, the sunroof just shattered and pieces of glass came falling down in-between my kids. Didn't seem like anything hit the sunroof, it just shattered on it's own! took back to dealership, they don't want to take blame and told us it has to go thru our insurance! they would cover the deductible. After looking into other stories, seems like Ford has fault glass installed, I read other saying the same, that their windows have just exploded and the glass just shattering without anything hitting them! feel like this is a safety concern and Ford isn't helping with! think the glass hit daughter in face giving little scratch, nothing to major luckly!.

My Ford Expeditions transmission is causing unsafe driving with rough sound and thunking noise. There is a c,d,f issue and valve separator parts that are the initial issue that can cause major issues for me and many others. A Ford technician advised me that tsbs exist and made me aware that my cost could be $199 (diagnostics), $1500 (parts), and $4400 or more (transmission repair or replacement). Why is this danger still be allowed with a well known issue. The problem started and appears to be getting worse. Why is Ford being held accountable for this lack of quality in their vehicles.
On 1/7/25, I took my (less than 4 month old) Ford Expedition to midwest Ford to have the oil changed and to have a rattle in the roof examined. I was told they had time for the oil change, but I'd have to make an appointment for the rattle and they were about 2 weeks out on appointments. In the meantime, I was on a 3 hour road trip, and approximately 10 minutes before arriving at my destination, the sunroof glass shattered. Because it had a rattle, I had the interior cover closed to prevent listening to the loud rattle. Had I not had it closed, that glass would have shattered on myself and my children while driving 60+ mph. This happened on [xxx], at approximately [xxx]. I have photo evidence upon arriving at home and inspecting the damage. My safety and the safety of my children was definitely put at risk. Had the interior not been closed, the explosion/shattering could have easily caused a wreck. When hearing the noise, I ducked, initially thinking something outside the vehicle had exploded. It wasn't until I heard/felt the air coming through that I realized it was the sunroof. I took the vehicle in first thing Monday morning to be examined by midwest Ford. The service manager informed me that I couldn't prove nothing hit the vehicle so it probably wouldn't be covered. He refused to acknowledge that I had brought it in for a rattle and felt something was not right. His "claim" is that Ford denied the warranty claim because I couldn't prove something didn't hit the glass and cause it to shatter. We were on a 2 lane highway with no vehicles nearby and no outside weather conditions that would have initiated the shatter. No warning messages were present, other than the rattle that was clearly present. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
What component or system failed or malfunctioned transmission, and is it available for inspection upon request yes how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The “handless” rear hatch opening activates when not intended. This has caused a concussion to a driver while loading a vehicle. While this is not a “driving” system, it causes injuries to occupants immediately prior to driving. It is entirely possible that a driver could suffer a head injury without knowledge, then begin driving. This causes a dangerous driving environment. In particular the system is supposed to operate when the key is in a persons pocket and the foot is waived in the air by the hitch receiver area. The issues exists because it activates even if an object moves under the vehicle when key is in the correct proximity. This can even pin a driver down with the door over thier back while loading. Again this causes injuries and issues that may not be discovered until driving. In this particular incident the driver was loading the cargo area, when the door activated to close unknown to driver. At the same time the driver was leaning back and standing back up hitting his head on the door while it was closing on him. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes later after finishing loading, the driver drove away (sole occupant). After another 10 to 15 minutes later driver was feeling dizzy and un able to focus. The driver stopped the vehicle and sought medical attention. The driver was diagnosed with a minor concussion. While this had a good result, it could have easily escalated or caused a serious accident. It is recommended that a safety advisory about the potential risks of automatic door opening/closing is released. In addition it is recommended that the manufacturer enable the ability to disable the automatic function in the vehicle system in a manner where it only comes back on after a user turns it on.
Extremely loud/deafening loud pop and static noise coming from the speakers. Scared me so bad while I was driving had to throw the hazard on and stop the vehicle in road. The volume would not adjust and radio would not turn off. Had to turn off the vehicle and open the door for the loud static turn off. At restart deafening static immediately came back. Ears were ringing and felt numb in the inside. No recalls found for this and feel this is extremely dangerous while driving. Had vehicle serviced at dealer and no mention it offer to update the known issue.
When I am stopped at a light or in traffic and the start/stop technology triggers the car to shut off while waiting, when I take my foot off the brake the engine does not turn back up. My other electrics are still on. A messaged pops up and says auto/startstop shift to p, then restart engine. This has happened multiple times. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now. They say no error codes come up. They can’t replicate it. The last time the car rolled back and almost hit another car. It causes my car to obstruct traffic. And people start honking.
Rear camera fails intermittently. Phone stopped connecting through bluetooth. Tried different phone. Still won’t connect. Tried resetting to factory settings. Nothing. Blower fan only works on 1 speed. Changed blower motor and wiring harness. Still not working. Changed the ccm73. Still won’t work. I accidentally found what I thought was a recall on apim but dealer says there is no recalls.
I was on my way to my daughter's school. We got off the on ramp to her school and while waiting at the red stop light, my car stalled. The wheels locked. My brake pedal and gas pedal were not working when the stop light turned green. The car dashboard was showing the power to be on but nothing was working. After a minute, the battery light and the a light with the arrow that kind of circles around it started blinking. I put my hazards and waved people behind me to go around me. After a few minutes, my car started to go backwards on the on-ramp. I looked back and could feel and see my car going backwards toward the cars behind me. The traffic behind me on the on-ramp started to honk at me. They could see what was happening too. I put the car from drive to park and put my emergency brake and the car stopped. I called 911 and explained what was happening. After a few more minutes, two men in two different vehicles came and offered to help push my car. One of them asked me to put my car in neutral but my car was not allowing me to turn to the different shifts. All of a sudden my car starts blinking again. One of the guys told me to try to press the power again. All of a sudden my car starts powering up again. I thanked the two men and finished dropping off my daughter to school. From the time my car stalled and turned back on was about 8-9 minutes. This car has shown problems over and over with Ford. I have had 3 new car batteries since owning this vehicle in the 3 years I've had it. I've reported all the different car issues on the NHTSA website. I just had my oil changed a few months ago. My car just had a few things fixed in June. I have never been so shaken up like this before. My legs and hands could not stop shaking. I couldn’t stop crying. I’ve never been so scared in my life in this vehicle. This was the first time my kid was with me when my car has stalled like this. For my car to lose complete function was the scariest moment in my life with my kid.
Vehicle is at 53k miles and the blower motor already has failed. No cool air to the entire rear portion and intermittently no airflow to the front.
The blend door actuator has failed on multiple occasions. There was a recall last August and we had the equipment repaired at the Ford dealership in ayden. Just after one year it is not failed again. I called and the warranty for the equipment was 12 months. I am disappointed that we are now stuck with paying to repair what is a known equipment issue. My concern is there could be a fire or electrical concern throughout the truck. There are no warning lights, only a constant clicking sound in the rear of the truck where the blend door actuator is housed.
Master cylinder leaked into brake booster. Paid for those repairs which apparently are covered under other 2017 VIN # but not mine? now the abs transducer is messed up and the car needs new hydraulic pump & module.
Hurricane helene inundated our parking lot on September 27 with approximately 3-4 feet of storm surge. Many vehicles (20-25) were trapped and flooded. This vehicle caught fire and was totally consumed over the course of a 5-6 hour burn. Although all vehicles in our lot were flooded, this was the only vehicle to catch fire. By reports of eyewitnesses, the fire started underwater at the front of the vehicle and proceeded to consume it entirely. It did not blow up. Also reported is that the flashers and alarm/horn were active when the fire started (same was true for most other vehicles in the lot that did not burn). This vehicle is not a hybrid or ev, it is a stock gasoline vehicle with no modifications. The vehicle was towed away by auto-owners insurance company. It is unknown if they have done any form of inspection or investigation. This was not reported to the police but the fire department made a call to extinguish the flames at 4:55 am when the water receded enough for them to access the parking lot.
Driving down a highway the right side front trim that extends from the top of the windshield to the front of the luggage rack ripped off and it took a piece of the luggage rack off with it. It caused the vehicle behind me to swerve to avoid hitting it and nearly caused an accident. My local Ford dealership told me that there is an active recall # 24s02 currently exists for similar reasons but does not currently cover my 2020 vehicle.
Ford had a customer satisfaction recall (which should be a safety recall, honestly) - 19n01 - that was good for 10 years or 150k miles. My vehicle a 2013 is just outside of that 10 years but under the mileage and I am starting to have issues with the leadframe and main control. Unfortunately for me, I bought the vehicle in spring 2023, but am being told the warranty expired in 2019. Also unfortunately for me, the previous owner did not have the issue fixed. Ford is unwilling to assist with correcting the issue (even after the dealership confirmed this is the issue).

My Ford Expedition max started to make a rattling noise after I start the vehicle, if the car was running for a while I could turn it off and on again and wouldnt hear the noise, but if the engine was cold it would make a rattling noise when started. Then if I do not let the SUV warm up long enough and start driving it would have a point where it would do a random hard slow down before it would kick into gear and then it would feel like it was running fine. This started a few weeks ago the I was driving on the highway and while I was doing about 55mph the SUV made a loud noise that made the vehicle change speed dramatically it cause me to be whiplashed forward before the engine seemed to catch back up to its orevious actions, it did not actually cause an accident at that point (but it very well could have if the road was busy as it was a dramatic chnage in speed as well as the noise it made). I pulled over to inspect but there was nothing in the road and nothing that was being done that seemed to cause the traumatic issue. The next day when I brought the car to the mechanic and explained the issue he was able to diagnose an issue with the timing chain. Upopn some resaerch there many complaints and issues with my that make/models particular engine and parts that have had issues but the dealer would not assist saying there is no formal recall and at 69k miles I am over the warrenty. My car doesnot have any codes or warning lights and has all regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs done regularly but the car is clearly not driving correctly, this issue is causing the SUV to dramatically change speed while driving which is likely to cause an accident and severe injury.
I had parked the vehicle in grocery store lot. I had been shopping for 20-30 minutes when I was called to the service desk and was told to go to the parking lot. My car had rolled back across the parking lot aisle and had hit another vehicle. I verified that the car was in park. No one was in the vehicle at the time. It just slipped out of park and rolled. I called Ford motor company and they are not going to do anything about it, even though this is a documented problem they have had, just not on my particular year and model combination. They are the ones who suggested I file this report.
