Stabilizer links missing both left and right side. Do not know when they became missing.

I think that Ford should pay for the cost of replacing stabilizer bar links,since no other vehicle that I know of has had this problem. I would think that if Ford checked their repair record database they or you would find that a lot of these parts have been replaced but never reported to you people.

During inspecting of vehicle, noticed that right stabilizer bar link was broken, vehicle taken to independent repair shop. Dealer/manufacturer were notified.

How can they put a plastic pin to hold stabilizer bar?.

After reading the news about NHTSA investigating stabalizer bar links on 1997-1998 Ford Expeditions I jacked mine up and found the passenger side link connector completely missing. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer and showed them the article. They said the vehicle is not under a recall and I would have to scedule an appointment to have it repaired and pay for it myself. I went to the parts department and bought the required pieces for $53. Note that these are an "upgraded" item from the original equipment.

I read an article in the salt lake tribune newspaper a couple of days ago about the failure of the front stabilizer bar supports. When I got home today, I looked at mine and noticed that both the front bar supports are broken away from the bar. I do not know how long this has been like this, but I assume that it has been awhile. I also expect that the manufacturer will replace it at no charge since this seems to be a candidate for a recall.

While making a left turn the steering started feeling odd and I started to hear some noises coming from the front passenger side. The Ford repair shop said the front stabilizer bar link had fallen off somehow.

While driving at 60 heard funny noise on the bottom. Pulled over and saw that driver's side stablizer bar was gone. Vehicle shook alot because of this problem. Consumer has yet to contact Ford. Please provide any further information.

When making a sharp left turn stabilizer would go out. Not able to control vehicle. Would immediately need to straigten wheels when this happens. Would not do it when making right turns.

While traveling at 55 mph noticed steering wheel vibrating. Consumer checked vehicle, and noticed that stablizer bar was missing. Dealer has been notified.

Vehicle was taken to dealer for a routine check. While up on lift, consumer noticed that one of the links on left side was broken, and other side was just hanging down. When putting on brakes front of vehicle would go down. There was an open investigation by NHTSA on this problem. The front stablizer bar was repaired by the dealer, but the consumer was seeking refund because the part was defective.

Pe 01 022/front sabilizer link failure: noticed noise when parking, and whenever a turn was being made, vehicle taken to dealer and informed consumer that both bars were broken. Dealer made repairs at consumers cost.

I am writing in response to a news article I saw regarding NHTSA investigations of 1997 and 1998 Ford Expeditions, in particular failures of the front stabilizer bar links. I am creating this defect report because I believe my 1998 Ford Expedition may also suffer from a defect with the front stabilizer bar link. The stabilizer bar connects the left and right front wheel control arms and is supposed to help in controlling the pitch of the vehicle in turns. When driving, if I drive over the slightest of imperfections in a paved road, the front wheels start to vibrate and I have to slow down to regain control and to make the wheels ride correctly. Also when exiting off a ramp from a highway (meaning a very gradually right exit, not a sharp right turn), there is a loud thumping sound and the wheels again seem to lose control and start to vibrate. Likewise, when making a sharp left or right turn, there is a loud thumping sound and the wheel seem to lose control and start vibrating. I have to press the brakes to slow the vehicle in order to regain control. This is more than just a matter of getting my 'alignment fixed. ' please note: I think this is a serious problem which needs more investigation by the NHTSA. This behavior started about April 2001. This has gradually gotten worse and worse. It now occurs every time I drive this Ford Expedition. This vehicle has never been in any type of accident to my knowledge. I believe this vehicle to be unsafe, yet I have no alternative mode of transportation to get to and from work. I now have to drive slowly to avoid any problems with losing control of the wheels. Fyi - I called your office at 1-888-dash-2-dot and filed a complaint. But I wasn't quite sure the service representative got all my information. So I am opening this report as a follow-on. If vehicle hits a slight bump in road it will vibrate. Consumer is responding to a current investigation concerning stabilizer bar. Consumer has to slow down to get control of vehicle.

Broken stabilizer link. Appears to be corrosion related.

Consumer stated the sway bar links failed on his vehicle.

Front stabilizer bar fell and bolts fell off. Dealer had to replace stabilizer bar link kit.

Stablizer linkage which was connected to control arm fell down. Consumer saw linkage hanging down under chassis. Contacted dealer, and dealer replaced stabilizer linkage.

I noticed NHTSA news release of 9/4/01 regarding 1997 Ford Expedition stabilizer failures and I thought I would submit my failure. Both front stabilizer links were replaced by dealer, the day before I began a 3000 mile trip in winter from michigan to idaho and back. Dealer said stabilizer arm broke. They replaced both to be safe. My cost was $104. 52.

Earlier in the month left side of front stabilizer broke while consumer was driving, and recently right side of stabilizer bar broke. Contacted dealer. Please provide more information.

While driving about 45 mph, vehicle veered off the road and flipped over. Took vehicle to a mechanic, and they said that stabilizer bar broke. Please provide any further information.

Vehicle had been vibrating at speeds over 60 mph, left front bolt in stabilizer bar was broken. Replaced bolt, and vibrating stopped. Also, vehicle seemed to be more stable when windy.

Stabilizer light comes on intermittently, and there is a clicking sound from front of vehicle when making turns. Vehicle taken to dealer 4-5 times, cannot find a problem.

1999 Ford Expedition stabilizer bar was sheered off at the top. ** answer required***. Consumer also noticed a considerable amount of rubbing and grinding noise coming from the front end.

Consumer requesting reimbursement for repairs for the front stabilizer bar link, consumer feels problem is with the design of the front stabilizer bar links on his vehicle, manufactuerer declined request.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with swab bar links. Also stated that because of that it causes the steering to not be the way that is supposed to be. Dealer was contacted and have not found any problems. Ts.

Vehicle would rock at any speed due to stabilizer bar bolts missing, and allowing bar to hang from vehicle. Mechanic had bolts replaced. This problem also caused tires to wear uneven.

Stabilizer bar pin has broken on both driver's and passener's sides. Also, problem was similar to problem that was recalled for Ford explorer. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.

The vehicles front suspension stabilizer anchor line assemblies were broken the bolts rusted,the right side assembly totally missing.
