This issue began about a month ago on my commute home from work, all engine power was lost as I came off the freeway, the computer alerted with a wrench icon. I pulled over and shut the car off, then after a minute restarted. It started ok, I then used an odb adapter to read the codes, and found a soft (not permanent) code p2112 (throttle body stuck closed). I immediately call the Ford dealership to have them look at it. When they got the car, the code was no longer in the computer. They ran a diagnostic, declared that they did not find anything, charged me $200, and sent me home. Second occurrence was about 10 days ago, again driving home from work, then while coming up to a traffic light the same failure happened again. After restarting, and driving home, I began researching the problem. Today, while returning home in the rain during a 5 mile drive it failed 5 times, each time I had to pull over, shut it down then restart. Now I have a permanent code stored in the computer (p2112) and an appointment with the dealership to fix it. I am fairly certain that the throttle body will be replaced by the dealership, but I am out of warranty now, and they will indeed charge me. I have found numerous other complaints about this issue, and believe Ford should provide an updated part that will resolve this issue. I suspect that this will in time cause an accident, perhaps even injury for someone. This is due to auto manufacturers removing the rather simple mechanical linkage from pedal to throttle and turning this over to a computer. To be sure, it is the computer that is creating the dangerous circumstances by disengaging all throttle control when the throttle body is sticking, forcing the driver to the side of the road (assuming there is a safe place to pull over).

Approximately 2. 5 hrs. Into a 3 hr. Trip with outside temperature in the single digit range, and with constant highway driving (no stopping) my throttle became stuck while traveling approx. 70 mph. While trying to avoid the traffic that had slowed in front of me I reached for the ignition key and turned the truck off while I searched for a place to pull-over to. After the truck was stopped on the side of the highway I restarted the engine only to have it race in rpm's. I was able to drive the truck home the remaining part of the trip after I removed the throttle body cover and just lightly touched the throttle linkage (just left of throttle plate) which returned the throttle to idle position. Truck has been taken to Ford dealer where an upgrade of the pcv system has been performed (TSB 01-21-12). Truck information:

Gas pedal stuck while under acceleration. While accelerating from a stop light the gas pedal stuck wide open. Managed to get to parking lot while holding brakes to the floor. After several kicks the pedal came unstuck. Took truck to Ford dealer where the service department found that the throttle body sticking due to a shifting in the linkage and carbon build up inside of throttle body. Dealer replaced part #'s 3l1z9e926 & f65z9e936 and performed flush of upper plenum with bg induction service.

Excessive effort has to be put on gas pedal in order to take off from a stop, which causes the vehicle to jump forward. Dealer has seen vehicle and said that it needed throttle linkage replaced.
When placing vehicle in reverse and hooking up a boat trailer hitch with foot depressed on the brake pedal, vehicle suddenly accelerated, knocking the boat trailer 20 feet back. Consumer also, rear wheels were spinning with foot depressed on the brake pedal . Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer unable to determine the cause of the problem. Please provide any further details.
While driving the throttle stuck, causing vehicle to increase in speed, resulting in a frontal accident, in which the driver's and passenger's side air bags did not deploy. Please provide further details.
Was leaving stop light when vehicle did not move. Suddenly it accelerated. Pedal released after pushing hard on it. Happens intermittently. Took to dealer & was informed that throttle linkage had to be cleaned & it's not under warranty.
Driving 65mph; had on cruise control; sign read slow to 45mph; applied brakes; cruise control did not release; pressed harder; brakes started smoking; put into neutral & coasted to side of road; rpm high. Called dealer & was sent tow truck & told cruise control cable snapped.
When trying to pass another vehicle, the throttle stuck and would not release when pressing the brake. Please describe further details.
