After having the car for only three days, we were traveling 60 mph on a highway when the left rear tire disintegrated - no steering or control problems occurred and we were able to pull over and put on the spare. We returned home and took the car to the Ford dealer where we purchased the vehicle three days prior and they at first refused to cover the cost of replacing the tire. After much debate and reluctance on their part ("this never happens, you must have hit a nail") - we argued that there was no way the tire should have blown after only being drive on for less than 300 miles and that we did not hit anything we were aware of (their inspection of the tire also yielded no punctures that they could find). Ford finally agreed to pay for a new wilderness tire and it was replaced. We are reporting this so that you know this happened over one year ago on a virually brand new tire.
