36 Wiper problem of the 2016 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/17/2016

Windshield seal flies out at 55mph or greater. Car brand new. Dealers (asheville Ford nc) do not know proper repair and dismissive of danger and customer. The dealer falsely marks papers as warrantee repair when a call to for says that VIN numbered car had no report of warrantee repair. Fraudulent reporting. Further repairs don't work. One Ford dealer, correctly, said windshield and seal must be replaced as a unit. Dealers ignor.

41 Wiper problem of the 2001 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/10/2014

Wipers fail, came within inches of major crash several times, due to poor or no visibility from rain or snow because of wipers complete failure. Also, power windows fail, interior lights fail, radio fails, 4 wheel drive fail and it was stated on line that air bag failure is also a problem. Can not drive in rain or snow! when looking up the gem module part (generic electronic module) it was stated in several online parts sources that the 2001 Ford Expedition had a windshield improperley sealed at the factory on the assembly line. Thus water leaks on the gem module shorting it out; and it was stated that in several of the same vehicles that their entire fuse box fails which is located directly under the gem module which is mounted on top of the fuse box causing entire electrical failure. I feel it is the responsibility of Ford to recall these vehicles and fix the problem. It is an assembly line failure, I can not renew my licence due to safety standards until this issue is addressed and Ford corrects the problem.

42 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

It started with the radio and windshield wipers not working periodically this went on for several weeks and then on Saturday night 5/31/14 at approx. 11:30 am "christine" showed up and my car was trying to start its self. It made a clicking sound for about 30 mins with the lights going off and on. The sound was like a dead battery sound. Then it would try to start itself. This went on for about and hour and then it finally stopped. I assumed that the next morning my battery would be dead but when I went out Sunday morning it started right up and I was able to rund my errands. This morning Monday 6/2 I went out to go to work and it would not start but the lights came on and it continued to make a clicking sound even though I assumed the battery was dead. I am scared to do anything, like jump the battery , for fear it will explode or catch fire.

43 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

Driving normally during heavy rain wipers and radio went dead at highway speed and worked intermittently after that. After the rain stopped and car dried out wipers and radio worked normally again. Carpet on left side under fuse panel and gem module, both of which have already been replaced was wet. This is a safety concern as it is extremely difficult to see when the wipers stop working unexpectedly. The cause seems to be the windshield wasn't sealed properly at the factory, as my father bought the vehicle new and said the windshield has always leaked. I purchased the vehicle from him.

44 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/07/2013

Summary: water leaked around the left side of windshield causing electrical failures, including but not limited to the starter, radio, windshield wipers, headlamps, etc. The water entering the vehicle wet the power distribution box (pdb) and the generic electronic module (gem). These components control various electrical systems in the vehicle. The vehicle continued to attempt to start itself without any key in ignition until it resulted in the starter burning up as well as damaging associated wiring and battery. Vehicle's windshield had to be replaced as was the starter, associated wiring and battery after vehicle was towed to repair facility.

46 Wiper problem of the 2011 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

While driving in a heavy rain storm, the rubber part of the wiper came off. This caused a huge scratch in the windshield. Visibility was very poor, traffic was heavy and we couldn't pull off immediately. The windshield had to be replaced, Ford declined to cover this as a warranty or defect. The service manager mentioned that this has happened "a lot".

48 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

While driving this Expedition I began noticing strange intermittant electrical behavior like the windshield wipers not working, radio turning off, windshield wash light blinking, and 4x4 light blinking. Several times in the middle of the night I'd notice that the headlights would come on on their own. Also the air ride would turn on and off while the car was off, and the heater fan would also come on. This would kill the battery. Several times while driving the 4x4 would turn on in the low gear making it difficult to maneuver. On several occasions the starter would turn on while the car was already running. I replaced the gem module and had the windshield resealed several times, but after just a few months the problems would recur. The final nail in the coffin was when the starter kicked on while running and it took a minute to get the car safely stopped. I could smell smoke from the burned up starter motor. The Expedition has sat for 1. 5 years as I am unable to sell it and am unwilling to put any additional money to fix this lemon.

49 Wiper problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

50 Wiper problem of the 2010 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/27/2012

The rear window exploded/shattered while the vehicle was idling in the driveway. Nothing impacted the glass, my family had just got in the vehicle and a few seconds later heard a whistling sound and the window shattered. I contacted the local dealer and they said there had been no other similar reports and it was not covered under warranty.

51 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/15/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the automated windows were inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

52 Wiper problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/19/2012

The air conditioning unit is leaking excessive amounts of water under the carpet and the water is pooling under the rug and flowing into the channel where the wiring harness is located. This wiring harness does not look to be protected from water and it is a mater of time before the insulation on this wire breaks down and shorts out to the frame.

53 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

During rainy periods the stereo and windhshield wipers will turn off and on by themselves. If the truck is turned off the stereo and ac will stay on and locks will lock and unlock by themselves. Smoke comes up from the steering wheel. The turn signals will blink a few times then stop blinkin but the light will stay on.

54 Wiper problem of the 2010 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/25/2012

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the windshield wipers would fail in intervals of twenty minutes at a time. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and had the windshield wiper motor replaced. The failure recurred two months later and would operate abnormally fast before failing. The current and the failure mileage was 35,000.

55 Wiper problem of the 2001 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

Water appears to have leaked into the electrical system causing the wipers to not function at all. When the wipers are turned on, we hear the wiper motor click; but wipers do not clear the windshield.

56 Wiper problem of the 2001 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/29/2011

The light for the wipers system has been on since we bought the car from the dealership. It has never been able to spray fluid.

57 Wiper problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

We have our Expedition for a while and we know the people who owned it before us. While it is raining and days after the power to the truck does not turn off. The radio will turn on, the blower for heat or air will keep blowing, the lights will turn on, the four wheell drive will stop, abs will stop, and the wiper blades will not work. So because the electrical items will turn on at random, they drain the battery and the truck will not start the next day. We found out that due to manufacturing error, the windshield leaks water into the general electric module. The other problem is the part not only expensive, but if you buy one and it does not work, it is not returnable. And that was told to us by multiple dealerships. So basically Ford knows of the problem and it is a safety issue and has done nothing about it.

58 Wiper problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/04/2010

Multiple instances following rain vehicle turns over but will not start. Removing the key any of the following will occur- heater fan blower comes on and will only go off with the key in and in the on position. Lights may or may not come on. Radio may or may not come on. All this with key out, vehicle empty and closed. Sometimes blower will come on in empty vehicle. If the car starts sometimes the wipers will not work, the horn will not work, radio will not work, lights will not work or blinkers go on. Any or all of this may occur. Sometimes and oder like burning or sour gas will occur. If the rain quits and the vehicle sits for minutes to hours all these symptoms go away. I have pulled the lower kicker panel on the drivers side and found evidence of water below the gem near the edge of the carpet. I believe this to be the problem reported by many as the water entering from the windshield and shorting at the gem fuse connection. I am contacting the dealer, if they will not take care of it I will have a windshield replacement company try to reseal and examine for leaks. This appears to be potenially dangerous if engine would die while driving, light go out or wipers stop working.

59 Wiper problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/14/2008

My vehicle was parked in my home driveway for at least 20 hours without being driven, in the extreme michigan cold weather. The morning of, I was made aware that my rear window was totally shattered. There was shattered glass on the interior of the vehicle and shattered glass on the exterior snow covered ground. The back window had exploded to shards.
