3 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 03/24/2021

The wiring harness to the airbag system became detached due to the placement of the wires and with the driver seat and passenger seat automatically adjusting, it can cause the wires to come out of place. The entire wiring system that connects to the seatbelts and impacts the airbag system had to be replaced. The airbag light was lit up on my dash & I was told none of the airbags worked in my vehicle if this light was on. The repair had to be done as a safety measure to ensure the air bags would work and function properly. The vehicle was turned on one day and the airbag light on the dash came on and continued to stay on.

4 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 02/26/2021

Air bag light came on which disables all airbags in the vehicle, making an unsafe vehicle operations issue. Upon diagnoses it appears Ford moco is aware of a faulty issue under the second row seats for the optional seatbelt airbags, as issued with Ford TSB 16-0001, to date Ford has not issued a recall to service the know issue. The average repairs are costing consumers around $1,000 +/- for the repairs, thus too many consumers are bypassing the repairs due to the higher costs and thus driving newer/modern vehicles without standard safety equipment active.

5 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 02/18/2021

Frayed wiring under the passenger side second row seating. This is causing the airbag light to be on and will not allow that airbag to deploy in an accident. Ford is aware of the problem and that it is a common issue that they do not know what causes it. Completely unacceptable for a family vehicle to have this issue and the manufacturer not take care of it. We do not believe this vehicle I safe to transport or have passengers in the back seat now.

Airbag light has been coming on intermittently for over 1 year. Diagnostic test determined there is a faulty connection to the 2nd row inflatable seatbelt sensor. Ford issued a service bulletin to replace the wire harness pig tail connection. When the air bag light is illuminated due to this faulty connection, all of the air bags in the vehicle are deactivated. This is extremely dangerous, and my family has been driving the car in this condition for over a year. Upon further research, numerous cases exist reporting the same issue. 11 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/02/2020

Air bag light came on on the display. Took it in for diagnostics and it was determined to be a wire harness that needs replacing, until almost 900 dollars is spent to have the wire harness replaced all airbags in the vehicle are inactive. This is an issue numerous Ford Explorer issues face and it is pretty close to being held hostage by Ford. Seats and carpeting have to be removed for the wire harness to be accessed, this is a design flaw at best as users can't really access it so how could they harm the system? it is absurd that to have working airbags in our vehicle we have to spend anything if we didn't commit any error, nor is there any real protection if it were to happen again. This is quite a large safety concern, I've seen countless complaints online with this issue and was told by the service advisor at Ford we have people come in for this all the time.

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

My driver side airbag light is on my dash I have plugged in and unplugged all of the seatbelts reset the airbag light and it stays off for a while. This is definitely a safety issue I understand it is either a sensor or they are having problems with the wiring harness this should be addressed in a recall. The front passenger side seat warmer/cooler does not work, not sure if that issue is part of the airbag light problem.

26 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2017 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/16/2019

When starting I noticed the front airbag light remained on indicating a malfunction further examination indicated a problem with passenger srs not indicating proper illumination upon start up and that was the reason for the always on front airbag warning unless passenger occupying seat in other words if the indicator test at start up fails the system turns on the front airbag light until someone in seat/ it also means is a subsequent failure of the system will not be observed as the light has been already turned on for the earlier reason.

27 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

28 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

Airbag light came on around 50,000, was told harness needed to be replaced under driver's seat due to wires fraying from seat movement. Work was done under warranty. Mileage now around 92,000, airbag light again intermediately illuminated while driving, after taking it back to dealership was told it was the same exact problem and now it's an $1100 fix, not covered under warranty. I was told Ford is aware of the problem but no recall as of yet has been initiated. After looking online, seems this is a pretty common problem!.

30 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Check airbag light is constantly on my 2015 Ford Explorer. Took it in to get checked and the problem is faulty wiring to the middle row seat belt airbags. The fix isn't covered because my car is out of warranty and the fix is $800. Nothing related to the airbags should ever fail and if it does, should be covered regardless of warranty. There may not be a concern with having my rear seatbelt airbags not working, but because the light is always on, I have no way of knowing if there is a fault with my front airbags. When I asked the dealership if this impacted the front airbags, they couldn't confirm nor deny, they said they didn't know. Ford has known about this issues since 2015 when they first issued their technical service bulletin, TSB 15-0113 which was then superseded by TSB 16-0001 in 2016. I called Ford corporate customer service line and they refused to recognize this is a safety item that should be covered.

31 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/19/2019

Dtc b141b, air bag light intermittingly comes on. This issue was reported 2x while under warranty but by the time I would drop at dealer for repairs the light would reset so they couldn't see issue. After warranty expired the light came on more often, and today they were able to see indicator and get dtc. Since it is out of warranty now, it will cost me $750 to get my air bags fixed. I questioned why it cant be fixed because it was reported 2x while under warranty. It is almost like they didnt try to find problem until after warranty expired. Now I don't have working airbags on an expensive Ford Explorer sport. This is making me concerned if Ford has poor wiring harnesses because these vehicles have so many electronic components. Guess I'm sol. I will try to replace this sub par wiring myself tomorrow.

32 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer
