My 85 pound, 55 year old, 5 foot 3 inch, good health wife is not protected by air bags when sitting in the passenger front seat. Air bags in my Ford 2010 Explorer are designed to go inactive when a person of my wife's stature is sitting in the passenger front seat the auto company tried several different Explorers to determine if this was the same in all of their Explorers, only one Explorer worked properly and protected my wife. Ford refuses to offer any remedies or repair this defect, and as indicated above exists in more than the vehicle I bought. .

Was traveling westbound on hwy 98 in florida when the vehicle slammed on its brakes to stop at the yellow light, my reaction time was not enough to stop in time to not hit him. I hit the back of the work van going between 45-55 mph. My seatbelt was fastened and the inertia reel never locked in. My head hit the steering wheel and the airbags didn't deploy. My front bumper made solid impact. I am taking my vehicle to a shop on Tuesday to have everything looked at and fixed.

The contact owns a 2002 Ford Explorer limited edition while idling at a stop light, the drivers side front airbag deployed without warning. She had experienced between 5-6 major collisions/crashes with the vehicle and suspects that the failure of the airbags were due to the incidences. The manufacturer did not speculate that the previous crashes caused the airbags to deploy. The manufacturer would not take any liability for the failure, and repairs cost over $3,000. 00. No repairs had been made to the vehicle to date. The failure and current mileages were 131,000. Updated 11/23/09. The rear pinion seal was leaking. Updated 11/24/09.

On 09/23/01 my 24yr. Old soninlaw was killed when he lost control and hit a meidian and tree was on two tires then went 30ft thru the air before the Explorer he was driving rolled and threw him out the driver window. He was wearing seat belt which he had had trouble with since purchase failed and he was ejected also his brother in passenger side couldnt get his belt to latch but he was lucky and walked away. The truck was also equipped with airbags on both sides which didnt deploy either. My son in law died that night when he was ejected and the truck landed on half of his face. He left behind a wife and 2sons and a 1 month old daughter. These Explorers are death traps please do not purchase one.

I was involved in an accident in February that was not my fault. The other driver failed to stop at a stop sign and came into the intersection as I was coming from through it. I was wearing my seat belt and the airbag did deploy, causing the majority of my injuries. I had several lacerations on my cheeks, chin and mouth. My upper lip was split open and I sustained a serious injury to my jaw. All of these injuries were caused when my head went forward as the airbag cover popped back and the airbag was inflating. The airbag hit me in the face with such force that it left my jaw permenantly injured. I am an 5' 5 1/2" tall and do not sit particularly close to the steering wheel. There is an obvious flaw with the design of the airbag.
While driving about 35 mph slip on a ice spot and lost control of vehicle, crashing into an utility pole, and none of dual air bags deployed.
Passenger's airbags separated from dashboard console during impact. Dealership was aware of problem.
I was driving on a highway when a car attampted to change the lanes and hit my car. The other car was turned across my lane and I hit the car with my front right side, then my car was pushed onto the concrete divider and I hit the divider with my front left side, all when traveling about 60 mph. The passanger seat belt didn't lock up, and my wife was thrown on the dashboard. I also hit the stearing wheel with my head, and because I wear glasses I have some facial injuries. At the whole time when the accidend occured, none of the air bags had deployed.
Vehicle was at a stop sign and suddenly accelerated into another vehicle. Brakes and both airbags deployed, and consumer hurt his head. The accelerator and brake pedal were very close together that it was easy to depress both simultaneously causing the vehicle to accelerate instead of slowing down.
