Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bags could deploy at any time and the seat belts may not work. In addition, the toe link suspension also failed and the seat belt warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mcclardy Ford (4400 landers rd, north little rock, ar 72117, (501) 945-1200) where the mechanic stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact may have to pay for the repairs. The failure mileage was 39,000.
The same common problem with every single 2012 Ford Explorer. The airbag light came on and possibly disabled the airbag system. According to hundreds of Explorer owners this issue is an endless money pit because there is no permanent fix and Ford refuses to recall the vehicle for this problem. The cost for turning off the light at a Ford dealership will be upwards of $400 and will only turn the airbag light off for a short while. I was promised by local Ford dealer "there's a high probability I'll have to bring the car back in for this issues down the road and their apologies but there's nothing from Ford to help me cover the cost of this repair". Unsafe rip off. . . . Pure and simple.

Airbag indicator light came on. Goes off intermittently but is on more than it is off. Took vehicle to dealership. They ran the codes and indicated it was a short in the wiring harness under both left and right passenger seats in the second row. The dealer indicated that without repair it was possible the entire airbag system would not function properly.
I've recently noticed my airbag light on in my vehicle dashboard. I ran a scan tool but nothing is being picked up by the scanner. Not sure what I need to do next. I've only owned the vehicle for a few months now. Its used but doesnt look like its been in any accidents. I did just have my car cleaned at a car wash and they cleaned out the car. I wonder if they hit the wiring under the seats trying to clean the 3rd row seating area?.
Standard driving drug with no crashes. Airbag light began coming on intermittently while driving in early to mid October of 2018 (around 45,000 miles). After a full week of the light staying on vehicle was taken to dealership. The harness connector was loose. Five to seven days after repair the light began coming on intermittently again. A second dealership said the gardens connector was loose. Two to the weeks later the light came on and persisted. I was told in late may that it was the wiring harness before the front passenger seat. After some issues with the dealership, it was taken to the dealership that originally fixed it in October 2018. This time both the passenger wiring harness and airbag were replaced. Over $800 and 3. 5 hour appointment for the actual fix. Pictures from initial service are attached.
Here in the last few weeks the air bag light come on air bag . Light come on as I was driving o road. It dose this some times and don't at other times.

Captains chair behind the driver's seat, seatbelt would no longer connect. Seatbelt receptacle had to be replaced, now airbag light is on at all times.
On a city street experience loss of accelerating power while coming to stop and crossing an intersection the vehicle will star at a snail pace bringing up the speed to 40 mph on limp mode since the vehicle service wrench tool and air bag light up on the dash board vehicle will not respond pushing down on the gas pedal.
After starting vehicle, air bag indicator light comes on (not every time) and seat moves to the ignition off position. Turn engine off and restart and air bag light and seat position may operate correctly but not always. If it occurs again, only after turning vehicle off and restarting a number of times will the air bag light and seat position remain in the correct positions.

The air bag light keeps coming on and staying on for no reason . I feel this is really a safety issue since the air bags wont inflate if light is on and I have researched this matter and there has been several complaints from other owners who own this vehicle.
Airbag light illuminates soon after being fixed at dealer. Literally went on prior to driving home from dealer only to turn around and bring it back. Have had the vehicle in the dealership on numerous occasions in the last year. No one can answer the question: is the whole airbag system dismantled while on? if you turn car off and on it will disappear and come on soon after. Called Ford customer service only to be told they can't answer the question. Been dealing with this constantly since prior to August 2017.
The airbag light came on while driving and remained on (stationary and in all driving conditions) at about 61,000 miles while on a road trip. The car was taken to grapevine Ford in grapevine, TX at 62,654 to be diagnosed. The cause was second row open harness with codes b141b and b141c. Check oasis found TSB #16-001, applied to repair. Per TSB, repositioned harness and replaced connectors. Per TSB, cleared codes. The repairs were covered under cpo warranty with $100 deductible.
The airbag light keeps coming on, it has been addressed before by the dealer but continues to happen. Now that my car is out of warranty I would be responsible for this issue that is very common with this car.
Airbag system malfunction light comes on and off seemingly randomly. No correlation to temperature or humidity. No correlation to being in motion or stopped. Sometimes it stays on for long periods of time (I. E. Months). Based on research I've done, it seems that when the airbag indicator is lit, the entire airbag system is off. This is a major safety issue. After about 1 month of it being on steadily, I had it fixed at the dealership, franklin Ford, in franklin, MA. They fixed it through a TSB where connectors were cleaned and re-greased with dielectric grease. This fix lasted about 1 year. After this time period the airbag light came back on, again intermittently and randomly. Again, after about 1 month of steadily on, I took it back to the same dealership, where it was diagnosed to be the same issue. The vehicle was repaired using the same TSB method. This leads to a logical assumption that this fix is only temporary and I will continuously need to have it repaired. I've read accounts online of several other users experiencing this same issue.
Air bag indicator light stays on.
Air bag light is on , possible air bag fail.
Front passenger seat pretensioner has failed causing the airbag light to come on. A technical service bulletin has been created on Ford's end blaming the connect. See TSB 12-5-11. It tells the mechanic to inject dielectric grease as a fix.
On 2, 2018 Ford Explorer basic model vehicles, the front passenger airbag indicator has come on and then gone off and stayed off with my 14 year old 118 lb, 5' 9" child in the front seat. First incident: March 23, 2018. In the first vehicle the journey was approximately 30 minutes on a 4 lane road. No turning or braking affected the condition. Second incident: April 4, 2018. In the second vehicle, VIN 1fm5k7b87jgb15730, on a hour and thirty minute journey, on I-75 between naples, FL and ft. Myers, FL, my child sat in the front passenger seat and the airbag indicator showed the airbag was "on". On the return ride, with sitting in the same position, the airbag indicator showed the airbag was "off". Both incidents occurred while straight line driving, no braking or turning affected the incident. We brought both vehicles back to the dealership from which we leased them and showed them the accompanying picture. They told us that it could be that my child is too light for the seat sensor, but they were not positive. The head of the service dept and his lead technician witnessed the airbag indicator in the "off" position with my child sitting in the seat. They said they have never seen this before. They advised they contacted Ford with the first vehicle VIN and were doing the same with this second vehicle as well. I feel this is a significant safety issue as there is no certainty, should we get into a vehicle crash and need the front passenger airbag to deploy, that the airbag will actually deploy given the circumstances.

Airbag indicator light illuminated when operating vehicle. Dealer indicated that it is a wiring connector problem, but not covered under basic extended warranty. Known issue with a TSB 16-0001 issued to fix problem. This should be an considered as a recall as a safety issue as it is not a "wear & tear" situation.
During startup on cold mornings (not always) I have received multiple failure warnings. When this happens the vehicle has no power steering, turn signals, or windshield wipers. The warnings are: 4wd off, check parking aid, see manual, service advancetrac, steering assist fault, abs light, airbag light, parking brake light is on even though parking brake is not on. Also the climate control still sees the temperature as the last temperature from the previous drive. So if it was 80 out and now 40, the a/c blows cold air even though it is cold out. This happened twice, once at 749. 3 miles (3/12/2018) and the second time at 1440 miles (4/2/2018). First time dealer did not find the problem. The dealer has had the vehicle for over a week and still can not locate the problem.
Airbag light keeps coming on due to faulty wiring , costs 600 to repair . This is second Ford car with this same issue. I was told problem was in back seats. No one ever uses back seats.
"airbag recall "the airbag indicator light came when I put the key in the ignition to start vehicle about two days ago.
Vehicle under srs warranty, 5 year -60,000 mile warranty and airbag light illuminates. Taken to dealer and complaint with Ford. Notified it is a bad connector in the rear seat to inflatable seatbelt airbags. Airbag system will not work unless replaced. Not covered under warranty. This is a known Ford issue with tsbs issued and is a safety issue since srs system will not work. This is a safety issue that Ford is ignoring.
For a significant amount of the vehicle's life, the airbag light has illuminated a majority of the time. I did not believe this was an issue as I was instructed that a light would come on if the vehicle thought something/someone was in the passenger seat, but did not meet minimum weight requirements. It has come to my attention when my vehicle was in for a non-related repair, that this is not the case and that the light actually indicates a fault with the airbag system. So I have been driving around for probably 40,000 miles with faulty airbags in the car in which I am the original owner. I called Ford who expressed little to zero concern until I let them know I would be filing a complaint. According to the dealer, the issue is that the connectors are corroded (the indication was multiple connectors are corroded). This seems like a really big issue - I live in oregon, so not quite a dry climate, but it's not abnormal. The person I spoke to at Ford was named "ann".
The airbag light is on again. I had this in for service on 1/31/17 with 31,455. Now the light is on again. From what I understand my airbags will not work.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated when the child safety seat was placed in the middle row seat on the passenger side. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (frontier Ford, 3701 stevens creek blvd, santa clara, CA 95051) and was informed that there would be a diagnostic fee for the service. The contact declined to pay. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 33,000.
Airbag light has come on for the second time. The vehicle is currently at approxi mately 62,000 miles. The previous time the airbag came on was for defective seatbelts with the airbags in passenger compartment. Also, a smell of sulfur is coming from the air vents when the air conditioning is on. The smell is strongest when the car is stationary. When the car is traveling at highway speeds without a/c on, there is no odor.
Air bag light came on randomly and will not shut off.
Airbag light stays on and won't go off.

The vehicle was taken to autonation Ford (8252 s broadway, littleton, CO 80122), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
