Air Bag Problems of Ford Explorer - part 2

The airbag light on my vehicle comes on quite often. If there is a passenger sitting in the seat, it tells me that the airbags off. Nothing has happened yet but if the airbag doesn’t go during your crash, could cause severe injury. Can be inspected but plan to see what issue is and have it fixed soon.

As I was driving the vehicle the airbags deployed without a collision. I was in the car with my wife and 2 month old son. Had we been going full speed it could've been much worse than it was. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The car has not been inspected in any way. The insurance company is currently attempting to deny the claim based on pictures alone. There were no warning lamps prior to the airbag deployment regarding the airbags. We did not hit another car. I was able to stop the car in the middle of the onramp.

On 11-21-24, I was traveling down the interstate going at 60mph when a car began to urgently brake, I proceeded to hit the brakes as well and my car would not stop, at the time of the impact no air bag deployed, driver seat belt did not lock, my driver seat moved, no pre-collision assist came up for this accident. No prior issues or lights on dash.

Seat warning module failed. When unbuckling seatbelt car does not recognize you unbuckled, therefore the airbag system does not recognize which seats are occupied. This would also cause a safety concern as you do not have to buckle the seatbelt with no warning or alert there is an issue. Car has been at Ford dealer for service for a month with them failing to find any other vehicle that they can replicate the problem. This is one Ford dealer, but it should be something that is investigated as it might be easily overlooked. Car has been in the dealership for the last month with no answers from Ford or resolution to the safety issue, following federal regulations the dealer will not release the car back to us as it has a safety system malfunctioning.

Pursuant to the attached pdf file this relates to component parts of the air bag system. When these connections fail or have an issue it disables all of the safety features in the vehicle related to the air bag system and will prevent airbag deployment or any operation in a crash. This has been an issue since we purchased the car used with around 35,000 miles on it. Multiple repair attempts have failed. At 61,000 mile I was told that they would have to replace the connections but since it was more than 60,000 miles the cost of that repair would be out of my pocket as they would no longer honor any warranty coverage. Ford customer service in dearborn agreed with that assessment. The cost estimate at that time was given at a minimum of $3000. 00 dollars. This issue remains unresolved to this day and time as I have tried to appeal that decision and while I have tried to find an independent repair shop that would do this work. To date no independent shop will do this as it effects a safety system. At a 100,000+ miles now I am transporting my grandchildren in this car without the benefit of an operating airbag system due to Ford's continued failures.

The passenger side knee airbag went off in an accident causing my dad to have severe lacerations to both legs and a sprained ankle. Those were his only injuries from the accident. All caused by one airbag. There is a good chance he will need a skin graft on one of his legs. The emt and firefighters all said that they have never seen an airbag down there and loon like that. What it did to his legs is horrible. And should have never of happened.

Additionally, row #2 buckle, rear center row passengers seat, rear driver seat would not buckle, and that the passenger seat buckle was internally fractured, and the buckle assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

Air bag light on. Per dealer service center diagnostics, driver side air bag module fb5z*78043b13 defective. Module replaced, however air bag light on persists. Additional diagnostic determined that air bag clockspring component defective.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 mph, the air bag warning light was blinking off and on. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer for assistance. The contact stated that the dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the second-row seat belt harnesses had an electrical issue which was preventing the air bags from functioning as needed in the rear seat harnesses and the passenger and driver's frontal air bags. The dealer referenced technical service bulletin number: 16-0001 as a possible fix to repair the vehicle. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair but declined to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

This is the second time again 15 minutes that I've had to continue to put in these complaints about the recalls it is you know everything else about not being notified about all the recalls which I think there are between 10 and 12 all the way from the rear towing to the a pillars to the headlight all the way down to the Cadillac converter cam trimming assembly etc not been notified one time bye anyone nothing george coleman Ford dealership. Very unprofessional and I'm very pissed off right now I've spoke lol let the message for james farley ceo of Ford and I will be letting him know everything that has been going on because of the a pillars of water has been able to get inside the vehicle because that is the rubber around the front windshield which is supposed to have been you know done accurately and which it wasn't because if it was there wouldn't be a recall but I'm getting pretty pissed off to have to find out all these recalls on my own and for the Ford dealership where I bought the vehicle has not tried to reach out whatsoever even about the roof rack recall they have the parts in but they had not notified me so therefore if anything happens during the for the headlight if I get a ticket y'all will be held responsible if I get into a bad car wreck y'all will be held responsible because of the rear toe link that's a very important part because it will make you crash into a ditch and die and yeah I'm just I'm pretty pissed right now I can't wait for james farley to call me back because he's going to he's going to find out how pissed I am and I'll go above the ceo and talk to the Ford family about these issues along with leaving bad reviews and y'all get deducted for every complaint. The dash board has a little split where the air bag is located. The split is in a line of or a crease of the outline of the air bag. I took it to the dealership and they were clueless. They recommended someone to fix it, but since it was closely related to the airbag I can't find anybody to work on it. This happened about a year ago it just appeared and each year I think it's getting larger.

The dealer was contacted regarding NHTSA campaign number: 24v031000 (structure); in February 2024 and the contact was informed there were no parts available for the recall repair. In July 2024 the contact received a letter stating that parts were available, and an appointment was scheduled for October 2024. At the time of the appointment, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair could not be performed due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Air bag light came on the dash board headed to dealer to see why code b141c cost to repair the problem was very high not covered by warranty the problem seems to me a poor design. Because of this weak design I feel this puts passengers in danger.

Extensive leaking from the windshield area that is causing a significant amount of water to flood the passenger floorboard and the middle console where the screen for the radio, ac/heating control, and navigation system is. The lights on the middle console screen have become wet and are now blinking. The radio and the ac/heating screen is not allowing for any adjustments. The airbag light is now on the driver's console screen. The safety concerns due to the leaking of the windshield or the seals around the windshield would be an sudden loss of vehicle power while driving. Another safety concern is the windshield or the parts of the seals will come lose while operating the vehicle. There is also water leakage coming from the interior lights right above the middle console control panel.

Airbag lights kept going on and off and now stays on giving code b1212. It is a safety issue since it has to do with the driver seatbelt buckle pretensioner circuit. Airbags may not deploy incase of an accident. Apparently it is a problem with Ford Explorer vehicles which Ford has failed to rectify or have a recall for it. I need to know the fix or resolution for this before anything unfortunate happens.

Driver side window panel flew off during my drive on the interstate directly after I noticed it being loose for the first time. 3rd row seatbelts leak when it rains on both sides. Rear backup camera is opposite/flipped and goes in and out. Trunk will close on you after opening it up with the car not running. It will not sense movement when the car is off and continues to shut resulting in harm.

2016 Ford Explorer. The air bag warning light was illuminated it was coming off and on and now stays on. Took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired.
