Relates to design: many vehicles I have driven and never in one that I could put my shoe on both gas and brake pedal at the same time, and I am a very modest size man, not a large shoe size. I have experienced braking and the engine racing and found that my foot was on both pedals or stepping on gas and something holding back and realizing I was also on brake. I recently did a large amount of damage to three other vehicles and mine when braking to stop, my shoe was hitting both pedals. I attempted to slam on the brake and realize now I was also on the gas. While looking where I was going did not have time to realize this, get off the gas before hitting a parked vehicle with my foot down on the gas. I pushed a car into another car and pushed those two
over to seriously damage a third. I can't imagine if a person had been there or people in the cars. Even knowing this I feel nervous about driving this Explorer when back from the body shop.

After normal driving I began to hear a loud grinding and humming noise coming from the rear drivers side tire of my 2002 Ford Explorer. After going to my mechanic he had said my rear bearing and hub are bad which also made my rear tire unstable. He began to tell me it is a major problem with this vehicle and the bearings, hubs, and brakes were defective due to the fact that they cannot handle the braking load of this vehicle. After researching the problem online it would seem he is correct. This is a major safety problem in that all the bearings and hubs eventually go bad and can fail at anytime making the tires unstable and could fall off during driving. This is obviously a defective design and /or parts installed in this vehicle. There are many complaints of the same events happening to other owners. Since this is a major safety issue and a very expense fix for unsuspecting owners I hope you look into this issue and make Ford issue a recall. Thank you.

2002 Ford Explorer front and rear wheel bearing replacement. Back right wheel bearing failed causing damage to the axle, breaks and wheel drum. Front left wheel bearing failed. In both occasions noises were heard. In regards to be back wheel bearing the tire almost came off and the wheel froze. This occurred while on a major interstate traveling at a speed of 65 miles an hour. Back wheel bearing, axle, drum and brakes replaced at a Ford dealer, costing over $1700 dollars. Front wheel bearing began making a thumping noise and was replaced at a local mechanic costing $500. In contacting Ford I was told there was nothing they could do.
Brake rotors corroded to the point that the front surface was flaking off.

I put on the brakes and the pedal simply chattered like the anti lock brake mechanism was working. However, even when I let off and lightly hit the pedal again for 3 separate times the brakes did not work and only chattered. I ran into a tree to avoid a hitting another car and some pedestrians which wrecked my front end, right fender, right door, hood and other parts on the right.

1. Driving down the road, preparing to make a left-hand turn 2. When trying to slow for a left turn, the car barely slowed down and I could not get it to slow down enough to make the turn. I went beyond the turn and had to back up. During my attempt to slow the car down, it made a noise like a loud fan or a racing engine. This happened on dry pavement with no stones. 3. I took it to a dealer to have the problem fixed but they couldn't get it to react like it did for me and their computer couldn't find a problem. I made them put on the repair paper that they looked at both a braking problem and an engine problem and found no defects. I then left the dealership, drove down the road, had the car washed and then started for home only to have the exact same stopping problem as I described above. I made them take it back and they have had it for going on 4 weeks and still can't find any problem. Everyone in the place, service manager, mechanic and another service person, have driven the car with no results. They had me drive with the service manager after taking it back the second time and he put the car into a slide on gravel to have me experience the abs in action to see if that was what I experienced, but it wasn't the same. It did not make the noise that I experienced each time it failed to stop. We are not getting any satisfaction from the dealer. The car only had approximately 3,700 miles when they first got it. If I experienced this problem in traffic, I would certainly hit a car in front of me because no matter how much pressure I apply to the brakes, it won't stop in a timely manner. Once I have taken my foot off the brake, it will work again, properly. I feel like this is a major problem and so far there has been no solution given to me. They just keep telling me that it isn't doing anything when they drive it.
Brake fluid level drop in reservoir corresponding to brake pad wear, will result in air entering brake system and resulting in loss of brake pedal efficiency, prior to fluid level in reservoir reaching the min. Level when vehicle is on level ground. Fluid was flushed/bled but anti-lock light remains on and brake efficiency is noticeably deteriorated.

Truck was in park. Put my foot on brake, shifted into drive, truck immediately moved forward with foot still on brake, at approx 2- 5 mph. Pushed continually harder on brake with no response. Lifted foot completely off brake and pushed again, then truck stopped. Went through a garage door in the process, couldn't stop until truck was fully through.

Preparing to brake for a corner on a rainy night, the anti-lock brakes locked the wheels and slid me into an oncoming traffic lane at about 35 miles per hour. The oncoming vehicle swerved and avoided a head on collision with me. About 20 seconds later down the road the anti-lock brakes locked again as I turned into my development and again I slid. Vehicle has been serviced through its life and has a little over 52,000 miles on it. I could be dead right now had I not been a slower highway. It appears this problem has existed since the vehicle was produced after reading all of the complaints on this site.
While applying the brakes without prior warning the a braking light appear on the dasboard. The light will stay on intil the vehicle is turn off. Please provide additional information dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.
