1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

The issues that I'm having is the exhilaration (picking up speed) on a public street as well as in the expressway it hesitates to do so. When the vehicle is parked and I go to switch gears it does not want to switch. The gauge indicator comes on and the gas idle be stuck on empty when it has a full tank of gas. While the vehicle is in motion the radio volume goes up and down on its own. And the vehicle did not want to start for me one day the very next day it started right on up (like it want to start but didn't catch). All of this started happening at the beginning of October 2020.

2 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/15/2020

Tried to start the car and would not start. The screen on dash board went crazy and everything was flashing. Head lamps came on and air blower for heat came on high automatically. Seemed like some kind of electrical problem. The dash was flashing everything and would not start the car. Waiting for the tow truck for 2 hours and I tried again and it started just fine. Brought the car home but can not duplicated the problem. There is something wrong with it. I take 5 boys for football practice and don't want this car to let me and those boys sitting in the dark. . This is why I bought a new car so it would be more dependable. It would not allow me to start it and the whole dash was going crazy and flashing many things . Hope this helps.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

My 2017 Ford Explorer XLT with base 3. 5 v6 has been hard to start from the first week of ownership. It has less than 5000 miles on it now and isn't fixed. Ford dealership stated it would have to get worse before they could fix it. Vehicle shows no dtc's or any history! my wife has refused to drive it out of town due to the fear of it not starting at all. We have recorded over 30 videos of it not starting and have sent videos to Ford motor CO. With the same response, cant fix it if it isn't broke. Apparently it will have to either break something internally and leave my wife and child stranded, before it will be diagnosed. It is a $40000 lemon that takes 3-4 times attempting to start before the engine will run. This weekend it took at least 30-40 seconds before vehicle started, then it would not idle correctly! still no dtc's! vehicle does this no matter the length of time engine has run or level of fuel? it does it during remote start or the push button. It does at times have a strong odor of gas after start-up, almost as if it was flooded? as a person in the automotive repair world, the absence of concern from Ford is shocking! so instead of trying to correct a issue before it becomes a danger, they would rather it become dangerous and then repair it? if it is a fuel related issue, then this is a potential hazard that needs to be addressed. The vehicle is getting worse, but as said earlier, it will have to completely not start before something is done. Ford motor CO has not been very helpful, and now I am proud owner of vehicle that will not start correctly.

10 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2011 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/19/2016

The steering has never worked correctly, something just does not feel right with this vehicle. Also - the sync system does not work correctly and the screen randomly reboots and is not working correctly. Lastly the car system does not recognize when keys are in the car, so every time you go to start the car does not work. How this is unsafe - is in cold weather you have your keys in hand and the car will not start, which means you could be left in the cold and the car will not start. This is not safe.

11 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

On several occasions within the past 3 weeks, while attempting to put our vehicle into "park" we received a warning light that we needed to "shift to park", except the shifter was placed in the park position every time; this occurred to both my husband and myself. I was afraid the vehicle would not stay in park on hills or slopes in parking lots and in my sloped driveway where there are lots of small children playing and riding bikes because of this warning and would roll away killing someone. Recently, our Explorer would not start, our key fobs would not lock or unlock the doors; I was stranded. This last time on August 24, 2015 I contacted Ford roadside assistance to tow it to the closest Ford dealership to find out what was wrong. Turns out the shifter was defective and as a result it drained the battery. It cost me $672. 39 to replace the shifter and the battery; which is a lot of money when your out of work/retired with health issues. I also kept the old part for evidence. I talked to another Ford Explorer owner who also had the same problem and to date there is no recall I suppose because no one is dead, yet.
