Our air bag deployment light stays on all the time. I took the vehicle to gordie boucher Ford in janesville WI for repairs. The entire air bag system will not work if this light is on. Ford knows about this problem, it is well documented if you search the internet. A common problem that requires a wiring harness to be replaced due to a frayed wire. The cost to repair this is $1200. I did have the repair done because without it I would have no working airbags on my vehicle. This is clearly a safety issue that Ford is aware of and should be immediately recalled. I did request the old wiring harness if that is something that you would need to help get this safety recall started. I would like to be reimbursed for my expenses.

Water leaking in through 3rd row driver side seatbelt, leaks down to powerfold electrical wiring, and accumulates under seat/carpet and into spare tire well. The water coming into contact with the electrical wiring can cause great harm to NY children who sit back there. The water on carpet causes mold and mildew which is a hazard to out health. The water in spare tire well can cause rust and subsequent exhaust fumes to enter into cabin.

The air bag light came on. After doing extensive research I see that this is a common issue because of the wiring and faulty connectors. After wiggling wires the light goes off. It eventually comes back on, then repeat the process. . This is a safety issue because the airbags will not deploy with the light on.
Airbag light comes on - when light is on airbags do not deploy in case of an accident. Took to dealer told wiring harness under back seats need replaced, not covered under warranty. This is an issue with more than just my vehicle. There is a fix and should be a recall.
The 2nd row airbag light came on, and Ford told me it was a shortage in the wires and it wasn't covered under the manufacturers warranty. They stated that since the airbag light was on, the short in the wiring would stop the airbag from deploying, which in turn is a safety issue.
The steering failure light came on about 2 weeks ago and I brought to dealer. They said it was not the steering but the battery putting out the wrong voltage and caused the sensor to come on. Today I actually lost steering on the vehicle while driving about 30 miles on a local street. The street curved and I could not turn the wheel. The steering fault light came on and car said that the terrain assist and hill assist was disabled (was not using). I was able to put my hazards on, and struggle with the steering to pull over. I only have 42000 miles on this vehicle and have had numerous electrical problems with this car, including replacing the apim. I have a 16 year old, that just started driving with me in this car, and I do not think it is safe. I truly believe there is some wiring problem or electrical problem that Ford is ignoring. I see many people posting this same dangerous steering fault issue, and it not getting fixed.
The aiirbag warning light has come on. In taking the car to the dealership, this was traced back to Ford's error code dtc b141b and/or b141c. This error code has to do with Ford installing a defective wiring harness for the rear seat inflatable airbags and could cause them to fail to operate during a collision. The dealership (sheehy Ford, midlothian, va) refuses to repair the vehicle. I also contacted Ford motor company twice (5/29/19 and in April 2019) and they also refuse to repair the vehicle despite it being an obvious safety defect that should be covered under their safety restraint warranty. The fact that Ford is refusing to stand behind the safety of their vehicle has me concerned.
The airbag controller light is on on the dash. I had a diagnosed and my dealership and they come to say that the wiring harness control in the rear airbags is damaged and needs to be replaced. The dealership I said this is a significant issue that has been noticing in 2016 Ford explore models more and more. I am curious if this is a safety recall that needs to be taken care of by Ford.
Seat heat under driver seat keeps going bad. Only the seat bottom, not the top. I noticed as this is the 3rd time it has been in for this, that when I have the seat in the farthest back position it works, but when the seat is moved further it pulls on the wires. I wonder if this could be causing a short in the wiring, which potential could be a fire hazard.
I've recently noticed my airbag light on in my vehicle dashboard. I ran a scan tool but nothing is being picked up by the scanner. Not sure what I need to do next. I've only owned the vehicle for a few months now. Its used but doesnt look like its been in any accidents. I did just have my car cleaned at a car wash and they cleaned out the car. I wonder if they hit the wiring under the seats trying to clean the 3rd row seating area?.
Standard driving drug with no crashes. Airbag light began coming on intermittently while driving in early to mid October of 2018 (around 45,000 miles). After a full week of the light staying on vehicle was taken to dealership. The harness connector was loose. Five to seven days after repair the light began coming on intermittently again. A second dealership said the gardens connector was loose. Two to the weeks later the light came on and persisted. I was told in late may that it was the wiring harness before the front passenger seat. After some issues with the dealership, it was taken to the dealership that originally fixed it in October 2018. This time both the passenger wiring harness and airbag were replaced. Over $800 and 3. 5 hour appointment for the actual fix. Pictures from initial service are attached.
While driving to work, while the vehicle was in motion, I heard a loud pop sound, engine began to smoke. Had vehicle towed in to local Ford dealership which indicated bad cell in manufacturers battery causing it to blow and spray battery acid all over engine components at 26,127 miles. Dealership did not follow proper procedure when replacing battery and left acid on engine and components. Battery acid had eaten through brake system components, wiring and caused severe corrosion under hood. By not addressing the safety concern when confronted and during multiple visits and phone e calls, brake system abs failed causing a front end collision by slamming into another car in the interstate resulting from brake system failure.

Airbag light keeps coming on due to faulty wiring , costs 600 to repair . This is second Ford car with this same issue. I was told problem was in back seats. No one ever uses back seats.
Well I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. It has the trailer brake which I never have used yet. I have a couple issues with it. The theft light blinks as long as the vehicle ain't running. Some times it doesn't like to start and has a brand new battery. Sometimes when put in gear while running it will shut it's self off. I also noticed when I bought it from another private sell that when I was driving the Explorer that I kept smelling a burning smell like plastic and wires as well as smoke and heat admitting from the center console area. I dropped a piece of plastic in the center console area. I pulled up the center console area plastic and witnessed the factory wiring that runs to the center console lighter and else where sparking and smoking. I got it to stop and noticed that the fiberglass cloth thing the factory put around it was badly burned as well as almost halfway through all the center console are wires about an inch long as well as the plastic bottom area to the center console cup area. The burned plastic area is also started to melt. I have pictures on my cell phone. I showed the pictures to the reception guy at the jamestown NY 14701 Ford dealer service desk. He gasped and looked genuinely scared that , that happened. I'm scared that this happened. I don't want it to catch fire going down the highway with my kids and newborn baby in it. This is a manufacture issue which I feel should be fixed at Fords expense not ours.

There is a design defect in the front parking sensors where after freezing, water can enter the opening of parking sensor and short circuit the wiring harness causing the parking aid system to fault. This prevents the driver from utilizing this key safety feature when parking or being alerted on their close proximity of surrounding objects.
This is a safety issue - air bags could malfunction at anytime due to miscommunication within the system. Air bags can deploy at anytime or can fail to deploy when necessary. Air bag light turns on and stays on. According to Ford dealer this is a known issue but has not yet been recalled. Seat belt buckle replaced, air bag diagnostic module replaced, program control module air bag reprogramed. Light continues to turn on. Has a wire harness issue l/f door module srs - wiring loom needs to be replaced.

I've had my 2008 eddie bauer Ford Explorer just over a year. As I'm driving on a local road, it starts acting like it's about to cut off. I get to a red light and as I'm about to take off, it shuts off. I placed it in park and restarted it then it sputters and then catches. A few minutes later this error message comes up on the dash with a wrench. I took it to the nearest auto store, they placed it on the machine and said it looks like my engine wiring harness or ecm/pcm. I had the harness replaced (almost $900) and a week later the wrench error message returned and the problem has returned as well.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Explorer. At any given moment, whether the vehicle was idling or moving, the service engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost all power. The contact would have to wait until the vehicle's computer system rebuilt itself in order for the power to return so the vehicle could be functional. The contact's husband, a certified mechanic, rebuilt the transmission and reconfigured the wiring on the vehicle, but the failure recurred. A certified mechanic diagnosed that the vehicle's pcm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 156,000.
We have had continual failures with our 2015 and 2016 Ford Explorers with the police package. The body control modules, wiring harnesses, restraint control modules that are either preventing new units being placed into service or fail once they have been placed into service. We currently have two of these units that we purchased off of our state contract in washington state that are still at the dealer. We purchased and received these units in November of 2015. I have provided the VIN numbers to these two units that are effected along with the rest of the VIN numbers for all 5 units we have purchased within the last year and a half. Please let us know what else you would require to possibly assist us in our current situation. The contact owns a 2002 Ford Explorer. While at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed that there was an electrical fire in a wiring harness leading to the fuse panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, however, the contact was not offered a remedy for the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the air bag light, the check engine light, and battery light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that the failure was due to an electrical issue within the wires in the door locks and anti theft system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 205,000.
While driving on interstate 295 just south of brunswick, maine my 2010 Ford Explorer lost all power and rapidly decelerated and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn. I did manage to pull over to the side of the highway just before losing all power, but I could not restart my vehicle. I then had my vehicle towed to a Ford service center, and Ford indicated that the problem was caused by friction which had worn away the electrical tape and wire casing of the electrical node and the wiring harness around the fuel tank. I am concerned about the safety of other drivers should a similar incident happen under heavier highway traffic conditions.

This is a continual problem report one 8/10/13 19,000 miles: power steering light came on and power steering went out while driving vehicle <15 mph and back ceiling light came on and wouldn't go out. Ford: 8/13/2013 said ceiling light shortened out battery and caused power steering to go out - ordered light bulb came back in 3 days to replace light bulb - they said power steering was fixed. Report two 9/23/13 23,891 miles: power steering light came on while parked. Ford: did diagnostic said the issue was most likely wiring and said issue was fixed and I left with car report three 10/02/13 24,280 miles: power steering light came on dashboard and power steering went out while driving on a highway 65 mph, pulled off hwy. Reported incident to Ford. Ford: ran diagnostic, said issue was motherboard. Ordered part and I returned in a few days to replace computer board. Told issue was resolved and left with my car. Report four 10/31/2013 25,295 miles: power steering yellow light came on dashboard as I started vehicle in parking lot. Power steering had not gone out only had warning light showing. I drove a few minutes home without the steering going out. I started car about an hour later in garage and power steering was completely out. Bright red lights on dashboard. Warning light said something to the tune of 'report power steering immediately". Ford: kept car for 4 full days while we drove rental and was told they have no solution and Ford regional's engineers supposedly said 'this is not an issue they have seen before' (even though there are almost 100 reports on the NHTSA website about this exact issue) and to report if happens again. Report five 11/28/13 27,000 miles: power steering went out while starting vehicle in garage dashboard light up with red warning signs. Have to wait until after holiday to report to service.

I own a 2006 Ford Explorer, in 2009, the vehicle stalled out 3x while driving on the highway in massachusetts. My mechanic after reviewing the vehicle discovered that the vehicle had 2 corroded sensors within the wiring harness of the vehicle. After repairing the sensors within the harness, my mechanic stated that the harness system was defective and that the stalling or other system failure would happen in the vehicle again. The recommendation was that I should pursue Ford to replace the wiring harness in the vehicle due to the safety ramifications of the defective harness. I took my complaint to Ford motor company and my vehicle was inspected by their service technicians and the harness was reviewed by their area manager of northeast dealerships. Ford reported that they would replace the harness but would offer little re-imbursement to me as the vehicle is out of warranty. I was requesting that Ford replace the faulty harness free of cost to me as it was a major safety issue. Ford disagreed and would not move forward with any additional resolution. In the last year- I have had the vehicle as I cannot afford replacement due to employment layoffs- the vehicle has stalled repeatedly; on highways, suburban and urban roadways, all putting myself and family in harm's way. I recently contacted Ford again wanting a wiring harness replacement- Ford's answer was the same as it was in 2009, they would not replace the harness unless I pay for the majority of the work. I believe that this issue is a major safety issue that Ford should correct. I am now becoming fearful that if not corrected soon, that it will cause harm to myself and family.

A fire started in my 2005 Ford Explorer in the console area on the interior of the vehicle. The fire self extinguished as the oxygen was reduced. The fire caused extensive damage to the console area up through the center controls to the ceiling controls. Cause is unknown but the fire department believes it is due to an electrical malfunction in the console area.

Aug 2007, received recall notice from Ford motor CO to replace defective speed control deactivation switch (scds). Sep 2007, received notice from Ford motor CO advising of parts shortage to repair defect and authorizing "an interim repair of disconnecting the speed control system" on the vehicle. On subsequent service visits and on most recent visit of 3-Mar-2008, service representative at Ford dealership says that dealer does not have the part to effect a repair.
