Issue with navigation system. Many times is shows no gps. Navigation does not always recognize current vehicle position and many times navigation does not even work. On many occasions, upon starting the vehicle, the clock does not even work when the navigation system isn't being used. This is a safety issue when we are traveling out of town. We are not fans of using our phones for navigation as an alternative to the faulty vehicle onboard navigation. This first started happening December 2022.
My backup camera hasn’t been reliable for over 2 years. Also my audio and gps do not work. If I put my phone in the car I cannot even answer it due to no audio. I believe it needs a download update. I have tried and tried but have not succeeded. In getting an oil change the mechanic told me it can only be done on a Ford computer. This is wrong! I only have 36000 miles on it.
Ford Explorer 2017 sync/apim malfunction. Touch screen and controls stop responding almost right after system starts. Troubleshoots indicate to perform master reset, software update, battery replacement but no difference. Software update is risky due system becomes unresponsive as per the original issue. Safety issues include but not limited to the responsiveness of controls as -gps becomes unavailable -navigation stop working/updating which indicates wrong directions and enter unwanted roads ending into a safety issue -ac or heating can't be controlled, then depending of situation, this can affect health -radio volume can't be modified, this can cause a safety issue -usb sync ios/android can't connect as systems is unresponsive, if it gets connected, navigation is affected.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the awd became inoperable. The park assist, traction control, abs, lane keep system, front radar, and the parking sensor also became inoperable. The map displayed on half the screen. The screen was black with a blue rectangle. The cabin temperature indicator was flickering. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that an update and reprogram of the system was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered financial assistance, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
The apin (navigation/display) system on this vehicle constantly blanks out so you loose all saftey information. Gps constantly goes off course meaning your driving down a road and it has you floating off to the side of the road half a mile away and 1/3 mile behind or ahead of your location. This causes numerous re-routes including those that might not be safe to conduct. The heads up display system constantly blanks out and resets loosing all saftey information, sometimes it stays blank a long time. Ford had extended the warranty for apin system they know is faulty to 5 years I took my vehicle into service both under warranty I paid deductible for as well as in 2018 to have it repaired; they applied the same updates over and over and refused to replace the faulty apin system. Ford now refuses to assist and I feel this is major saftey concern, not only does the product just not function properly but I feel are major saftey concerns when the displays all blank out and reset or do not come back on. . . This occurs while driving. Ford refuses to fix the problem and allowed the extended warranty they offered to lapse so that they could wash their hands of it. I feel this faulting system could result into a crash of some kind by distracting the driver when blanking out; rerouting improperly onto roads that do not exist. And so on. . This is constantly happening and sometimes it wont happen but a few months a part and other times it will happen several times a day with in each other.

I have a 2014 Ford Explorer or did !!!! on 1-18-2018 I passed out before being involved in very bad accident ! I was driving to work bright sunny day . Passed out went thru stop sign a work truck hit my SUV spun it around ! I recall nothing other than driving then waking up to my gps saying I was in a car accident and if I needed 911. I don't drink don't do drugs . 35 and healthy / my car went to the Ford dealer for the recall on the c02 leaks and door panel . I made the appt a week prior the end of the day nothing was repaired they sent me the recall letter and fixed nothing! they didn't even check to see if my vehicle was at risk ! I know there are times they can check to see if my car was in fact one that needed attention! I feel no one should be driving these vehicles ! they should give free rentals . These cars shouldn't be on the road until repaired it's not just police vehicles anymore 100's of civilians have been affected . My car is totaled ! I'm told I'm lucky to be alive . The pictures are horrifying . Im missing work for at least a month , I was checked for any medical problems that would cause me to pass out , none were found . I did notice the prior couple of weeks a moldy burning smell . Almost like hair . And had headaches almost every day after driving to and from work . I am having a forensic expert checking my car to actually see if this was a contributing factor . I believe it was ! I have never passed out in my life . One minute I'm driving no cars around , next minute out like a light . Im driving then hearing the 911 person on gps . I will never purchase a Ford ! unbelievable ! I will report what I find out from forensics expert . If any of you still own one of these please put in a c02 detector . I could have died on this accident and worse could have killed someone else . I was driving on a regular backroad .
2011 Ford Explorer. Consumer writes in regards to issues with a "my Ford touch" voice activated system. The consumer stated the "my Ford touch" is a voice or touch screen activated system that controlled entertainment, climate, navigation and hands free cell phone functions. When the system stopped working, there was no control over any of the aforementioned devices. The consumer had to take the vehicle to the dealer three times, because of the malfunctioning system. A typical problem was the system locking up, the screen would freeze and there was no control over the heater/air conditioner or radio volume. Usually after 10-12 minutes the screen would go blank and a message appeared that read performing schedule maintenance. When the system was finally restored, everything worked again. Sometimes when using the navigation to find an address, the car icon would wander off the prescribed route even though the consumer was driving the prescribed route. When that happened, the screen would often display a large yellow question mark. The first time the consumer visited the dealer, they flashed the memory. It helped, but it still failed, at times. The second time, he returned to the dealer, they installed an updated program from Ford that was supposed to correct the problems. But, as time went on, the new program started to fail in a similar way as the old program. The last time, the consumer visited the dealer, they did a master reset by disconnecting the battery, thereby removing all power from the system and rebooting it when the battery was reconnected. The dealer informed the consumer, he could also pull fuse 29 and put it back in again. However, the consumer stated he was not able to reach the fuse, as it was tucked way up under the dashboard, but even if he could reach it, it wouldn't fix the defective software provided by Ford and microsoft. Disconnecting the battery didn't fix the problem, it only rebooted the computer and eventually, the problem would return.

Have had vehicle checked numerous times for issues with the gps system. They have reset and run updates, but most of the time I am told there is no problem with it that they can find. While driving the gps system places the car out in a pond, the middle of a field or some where other than where my car is physically located. The problem is so bad that I have purchased a tomtom to replace the useless system that I purchased. First occurrence date and mileage is listed.
