2015 Ford Explorer electronic power steering assist module rack and pinion my wife started the vehicle and a power steering light came up on the dash. We had no power steering, thank goodness it happened in our driveway and not on the road somewhere. We were able to get the vehicle to the nearest Ford dealer and they told us the electronic power steering assist module rack and pinion was bad. We had to pay $2500 up front to order the parts and were told the parts were on back order and may take 2 weeks to a month or more to come in. They told us it is a safety issue and not to drive the vehicle until fixed. I started looking up this problem on the internet and found out this was happening to many other vehicles,Ford Explorers thanks for looking into the problem and saving lives.

Driving down road and lost steering. Would not steer at all. The steering rack malfunctioned. Had mechanic shop identify issue. The power steering service light came on when steering was lost and there was no notice. Had to have steering rack replaced. Lucky nobody got hurt. This is a big safety issue. Ford has had problems with steering issue before. I think Ford should issue a recall and I am looking for reimbursement for the tow and repairs.

No power steering and a loud popping sound when ever I turned the steering wheel to the right. Just had the front suspension lower control arms replaced at mileage of 112477. The faulty steering warning light came on and it appears this is a problem Ford has had since 2011 on the Ford Explorer. I have read on the internet this is not an unusual problem with the 2015 Ford Explorer, so why has this issue not been required to be included in recall order?? I almost hit another car on a wet rainy night and I was going straight. Lack of steering control when driving 65 mph is a deadly event. Will contact dealer that serviced the front suspension to hear their side of the story.

Recall expired was also told warranty for recall expired(was told on phone they didn't know if warranty would cover until they run test it then was told it expired) in Feb I loss power steering and a cluster of lights came on dash. Happened in Feb but called and scheduled an appointment w Ford on 3/1 but they didn't have available opening until the following week we took it in and of course they say it's not covered. This is big safety issues and loss it in curve which was scary. I didn't purchase car until 2017 so never heard of recall and same dealer fixed another recall so why did they not fix this recall at that time or mention this.

While operating vehicle at high speeds the advancetrac light, traction control light, and no steering assist light came on. Before I could get off the interstate I lost most of my steering. Luckily it was at night and not to many on the interstate. It was an extremely dangerous situation for myself and my family. Very lucky we didn't get in a serious accident. It was worse than loosing power steering with a hydraulic power system. There was no control available while trying to get over.

Took the vehicle in the dealership where they read the codes and it came back the steering assembly was failing. They proceeded to tell me that the steering could go out any minute. The vehicle only has 57k miles on it but of course isn't covered under power train warranty. I own a 2014 Ford Explorer had a loss of electric power steering assist recently. Also the traction control, terrain management warning lights came on and the turn signals were not functioning. This same issue has occurred on 2011-2013 and 2015-2017 Ford Explorers which there was a recall but no recall for 2014 model. This seems very odd. The cost of repair was $2,100. I filed a complaint to Ford for reimbursement but they denied it since it wasn't part of a recall and provided no other explanation. The steering started to have problems while driving on the freeway and the traction control and terrain management lights came on, and turn signal not working. When I finally stopped the steering loss warning light came on and I couldn't turn the steering wheel. The car has 102,000 miles.
Power steering assist light illuminates and the vehicle loses the ability to steer. I almost ran into the curb before I forcefully turned the wheel to miss it. I was traveling around 5mph as I had just started it.
Advancetrac and steering fault warning lights came on while driving. Steering locked up and became extremely difficult to safely steer off roadway.
While driving on the highwaythe steering fault service now light came up on the dashboard while traveling 75 mph miles on odometer 900. After stopping the car and restarting it the steering loss stop safely message popped up on the dashboard I had to drive to the dealership with no power steering or any transmission options like sport, economy, regular, deep snow, no assist for uphill or downhill parking.
