36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Brake failure: the brake vacuum boost pump is failing which causes a loss of power assist brakes. This is a massive safety issue and can cause serious accidents. Oddly fors no longer manufactures the bracket to be able to replace the pump and there is no aftermarket alternative. My dealer tells me their notes from Ford say obtains from aftermarket but I have scoured the internet and nobody makes the bracket. It's a terrible design and a huge safety issue that should be recalled completely . Ford watts to charge over $900 to fix it but cant even get the parts as described above. Transmission lead rail: recently had the transmission lead rail fail whcih casued sudden downshiting at highway speeds and the shift indicator to not illuinate. This again is a massive safetey issue that Ford issued sevral TSB on but never recalled. This almost got me killed on thehighway a few times. They charged me over $1500 to replace the lead rail when again this defcetive design and craftsmenship that is a massive safetey issue and should be fully recalled. Engine stutter: my truck has almost always stuttered anytime you wne tover hal throtle, there are sveral TSB on this but Ford has not stepped up and taken care o fht eissue via recall. Apprnetly moisture build up in the inercooler and gets sucked into the intake due to poor design. Timing chain stretch: I now have timing chain stretch, this also seems ot be quite common due to poor design. Rear door failure: I can no longer open my rear half door due to failure of internal plastic door components. You can research any o fhtese issues and find that htey are very common pronlems in f150 and other Ford vehicles due to their negligence in design and engineering and some are huge safetey issues that Ford has somehow been alloweed to ignore or issue insufficinet TSB instead of recall.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2022

My 2012 Ford F-150 has 98000 miles on it right now. Right about when it reached 90000 miles on it, it started having this loud rattling sound during startups, coming from the engine compartment. Everywhere I looked, it stated it was a “timing chain” issue. I took it to 2 separate Ford dealerships, each numerous times, and neither would fix the issue, apparently because the issue did happened at the dealership. Note, the truck was still on the warranty at the time. Now, 8000 miles later, the issue has gotten worse. The noise is getting louder and last for almost 3-5 seconds. I don’t know what to do. I don’t feel I have to put out of my pocket to fix this problem.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

3. 5l ecoboost timing chain failure at only 58,000 miles (code p0016 possible turbo problems tbd front suspension springs are broken. All of these are common threads on many forums. Ford should be held accountable even though mine is 10 years old, the mileage is the issue. Fwiw, they completely redesigned the engine a few years later, but never notified anyone to watch out for these common problems or offer a recall.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

I began to hear timing chain rattle upon cold start up around 100000miles. I had the motor replaced at 122,000miles and both turbos per dealer and extended warranty recommendation. Now after strictly following oil change intervals over the last 28,000miles I am in the same boat. I have horrible chain rattle upon cold engine crank on a new motor.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2021

Vehicle shut off while driving approx 30 mph making a slight right hand turn. Thus losing all throttle, power steering and power brakes. Vehicle error message is low oil pressure but oil level is checked out to be good. Based on online research the culprit is an overheated fuel pump fuse and a very common issue.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

The safety recall for my 2012 Ford F-150 that was to fix a sudden downshift on the truck did not work. From what I have read; the root cause for this random downshifting is identified by as this: a defective bulk head connector. When trans fluid leaks past the bulk head sealing rings it can disrupt the transmission's output speed sensor signal. When this happens the ecm automatically downshifts to second or first gear. To fix this issue Ford released a TSB that was comprised of a software update designed to prevent the ecm from automatically downshifting when the loss of signal occurs (I don't know what other conditions have to occur simultaneously). This fix is less labor intensive (thus cheaper) than replacing the actual bulk head connector assembly. Ford has released a revised part number for the bulkhead connector as well. The sudden downshift which has always been prevalent on this truck continues to happen, it’s a safety concern that is going to cost me a lot of money to fix that they should be fixing instead of programming a software update that is a temporary fix.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2021

When driving, vehicle will drop from 50 mph to 0, causing a sudden stop. Vehicle then will struggle to get out of first gear, and whine. Vehicle will not move in the speedometer, and will not shift past first gear.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2021

After starting the vehicle and putting it into drive, the vehicle would not shift out of 1st gear. Rps revved nearly to red-line and even when I removed my foot from the gas pedal, the revs remained high. Even when underway, the speedometer registered 0 mph and the odometer was showing only dashes "-------------". After a short time, the wrench symbol appeared on the display and the airbag warning icon was illuminated. I pulled over and turned the truck off and back on and it operated normally. No error codes were stored and my service shop will not work on it since it is not happening all the time. On a different occasion about a week ago, I was driving up a residential street incline and the truck was not shifting from 2nd gear. I pressed the accelerator more and all of sudden the truck shifted extremely rough jerking myself and my passenger unsafely. After this the truck stuck in gear, displayed the wrench symbol and illuminated the air bag warning icon. This looks to be highly related to Ford safety recall 19s07 but my truck is not covered by this recall.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2020

I was driving down a hill on a main street with my kids when my f150 2012 suddenly shifted into first gear. I almost lost control into on coming traffic and the vehicles behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear ending me also. I had to put the truck in park before I was able to get it to shift out of first gear and make my way to my house. I told my wife what happened and she mentioned that something similar happened to her. I immediately called the local Ford dealership and they said there was a recall to solve the issue and could fix it in approximately six days. After picking the truck up the same incident happened on the drive home. It dropped into first gear from 3rd or 4th and almost locked up the tires on a busy road. I was extremely upset with Ford for returning an unsafe vehicle stating they had fixed the problem without testing it to be sure and putting my family in danger. I called them back and they said that was the only fix on the recall. I hope Ford is not getting off that easy by doing a software fix when obviously the problem is bigger. They must be held to a safe standard and accountable to ensure the safety of not only their customers but other people on the roads. The fact that the mechanics are now telling me that this is a common problem and they know the fix but want us the consumers to pay to fix their wide spread issues is frustrating and scary imaging how many people wont be able to or want to fix the issue and sell the vehicles passing the safety hazard on.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

In June of 2018 I purchased my 2012 f150 5. 0 with 16,250 miles. I now have 40,650. Back in oct of 2020 I began having issues with the trucks engine sputtering, chugging, etc. . When accelerating in day to day to traffic. The engine would run very rough while I sat on the side of the road or in the middle of traffic waiting for the truck to "work through it" or completely die. I'd wait a few minutes, start it back up and be on my way. I can be sitting at a light, it turns green and I take off and it'll act up or even when I'm traveling down the road a car in front of me slows down to turn and after they turn I press the accelerator and it acts up. It throws no codes but I'm a sitting duck out there when this happens due to the extreme quick loss of power. In most cases of this happening I usually don't have enough momentum to get out of the way of traffic causing unsafe conditions for all. Its very random and unpredictable evident by it occurring several times in a week or not at all for several weeks. As soon as this issue began I had the throttle body replaced by my mechanic but it still continued. My mechanic even kept my truck to drive around at different times during two sperate weeks to "re-enact" the issue, but it never happened. Within a day or two of getting it back from him it would happen again. I've been to Ford and if your vehicle doesn't throw a code they don't have time for you, "but if there's anything else they can do for you just let them know". This is a hassle, unsafe situation that I've been dealing with for several months now with no one able to give me any answers to fix this. Yes, I've seen and heard the list of everything it could possible be from bumper to bumper. I need a resolution because I've extinguished all other avenues.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

I was backing out of my driveway when as soon as I got out my truck suddenly locked up and then the engine light came on with the service light and also the wrench light and as I was driving my speedometer wouldn't go past 0 but would still accelerate. Now it is happening again but on the other side of the engine. 2 time chain links fall apart. Ford is not paying for this because my warranty was up 2 months ago and it is not a pre certified truck, miles are 120,066 miles. 2 timing chain links break in 4 years???????? the technicians at santa maria Ford said they have never seen anything like this before. 61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2019

I took my 2012 F-150 to byers Ford in delaware,OH. They were to perform the 19s07 recall. They said they did it. After leaving the dealership I noticed immediately that the truck shifts very quickly into first and the brakes felt different. Then since I have put 4 bottles of coolant in it in less than 3 months. Overheating frequently after only 15-20 minutes of driving. Then the breaks don't work half the time and the light comes on service brakes, I have them checked by Ford they say nothing wrong with them. Now the truck shakes, overheating frequently, brakes work part of the time, where is the coolant going? no liquids on the ground under the truck but it smells burnt and wet in the tailpipe. Now byers Ford is saying that it is just due to 2 more recalls, one being the vacuum pump and the other is the transmission module, but they say it should be okay to drive, they can't get me a rental car and they can't get me in until October 9th but they say to just keep driving it with my breaks barely working half the time because of the vacuum pump and it overheating almost every time I drive it, having to fill it up with coolant, loss of power, sluggish, many random computer issues it seems but they say to drive it? my engine and transmission both overheat and major is I have no breaks half the time, it seems like this should be a safety concern but they don't seem to care or want to make it right and address all the issues that the first recall created. The truck had no problems before the recall and now a big mess that is about to blow up that now has 2 more additional recalls because of the first one.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

I was driving on sr 71 north of columbus ohio in the rain when I changed lanes and tried to accelerate but the engine just started shaking and my engine light started flashing. The truck would not accelerate and started to slow down. I managed to get out of traffic and got off the highway. After sitting a few minutes I tried to get back on the highway. When I tried to accelerate the truck started shaking and would not accelerate. After a 3rd attempt the truck finally got up to speed and I made it home. My engine light is still on. I began to read forums on the Ford f150 fx4 and discovered many many people are having this problem with moisture and the intercooler system. . I could've died today. This needs to be made right by Ford motor company. 2012 Ford king ranch 3. 5 ecoboost f150 suddenly down shifts during acceleration. It is labored when accelerating, it gets to the 6th gear then suddenly down shifts. This happens when trying to merge on to the highway and also when coming from a complete stop after sitting at a light, then trying to accelerate. It has happened on the highway at 70mph trying to accelerate to 75 mph too. It seems like it loses power.

67 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2019

These trucks have now had 3 different TSB's on them for cam phasers and the timing chain stretching. When is there going to be a recall? TSB's I am referring to are: TSB 16-0027, TSB 15-0131, and TSB 14-0194. This is completely out of hand. The fix does actually fix the problem with the improved parts, but these vehicles have failed and Ford is either replacing the engine or actually doing the work in the TSB. If a customer is out of warranty, they must pay for the work. This is not what Ford is suppose to be about and is a disservice to their loyal customer base. I have a 2012 F-150 3. 5l ecoboost and I will never buy a Ford again unless they address this issue. It is a similar issue to the 3v 5. 4l with phasers and the timing chain, which killed my 2004 F-150, so I have been effected by these issues twice now, directly.
