My Ford dealer updated the power train: automatic transmission control module as per safety recall (NHTSA #19v075000). My transmission still is shifting erratically, especially hard shifting from 5th to 4th. Dealer told me that the software update for this recall did not work as expected for the 2013 model F-150 and Ford has not issued an new software update to resolve.
Vehicle speedometer will stop working while moving and vehicle goes into limp mode only 5th and 3rd gear. If you are pulling out the vehicle will stall leaving the possibility for a crash. Ford reflashed the pcm per the recall didn't fix the issue. Now the say they need to change the lead fram which was recalled on trucks before this year but not this truck. A lot of these trucks are having this issue.
The frightening issue I experienced on January 7, 2019 is identical to the reports I have since read regarding this vehicle and the frequent issues that led to the recall for 2010-2012 Ford F-150's for unexpected transmission downshifts [NHTSA recall no. / mfr recall no. : 16v-248 / 16s19]. While driving 65-70 mph on the interstate, speedometer suddenly and rapidly fluctuated between 40 and 70, then transmission abruptly dropped from 6th/5th gear to 1st gear. As a result, my wheels locked and caused the vehicle to skid into the lane to my right, forcing other cars to swerve out of my way to avoid a high speed collision. It happened so fast, and without warning, that it was difficult to understand what was actually occurring. Once stopped (in the middle of the interstate), I drove to the median, turned the engine off, sat for a few minutes to gather my thoughts, restarted the vehicle and drove it slowly to my Ford dealership (not on the highway). After inspecting my truck, the Ford dealership verified the issue and stated the following (written report attached): ran koec got code p0720 oss sensor circuit fault, ran pinpoint tests, found open in oss sensor which is part of the molded lead frame attached to the valve body, removed the valve body, dissasembled, cleaned and inspected the value body, all valves and bores are ok, reassembled valve body with new molded lead frame assembly and new revised separator plate gasket, installed new clutch feed tube seals and seal between valve body and fluid pump, installed new fluid filter and pan gasket, filled transmission with new fluid reprogrammed pcm and cleared dtcs, verified repairs. Despite parallels to the previous recall issue, Ford informed me it is not covered (there is nothing I could have done to prevent it) and the total cost to me was $1,418. 83. Please expand the recall - it will save lives.
While at hwy speed, automatic transmission went from 6th gear to 1st gear. While stationary going to accelerate, vehicle started in 4th. Vehicle is 2013 Ford F-150. 2011 and 2012 Ford F-150 pickup trucks were recalled for same issue. Dealership". . . Found fault with output shaft speed sensor signal. Causing transmission to into limp mode due not reading the correct speed. To correct issue removed transmission fluid pan and removed main control valve body and replaced molded lead frame containing speed sensor. Also set pcm/tcm to latest calibration and cleared dtc's post road test. ".
While driving at highway speed the transmission abruptly down shifts to first gear. In the winter with snow/ice on the road this causes the rear wheels to lock-up . I do not want someone to run into the rear of my vehicle or loose control. The truck was assembled in sept of 2012. The engine is a 3. 7 liter w/ 6 speed auto. 4 wheel drive. In June of 2018 (6/22/2018) I brought this truck to copper country Ford, houghton mi. And had the service department "reflash" update the tcm ( transmission control module).
Experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output. Depending on vehicle speed at the time of the downshift, an unintended downshift into first gear may occur causing the rear tires to slide or lock up until the vehicle slows. This may result in a loss of vehicle control without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Code p0731 when the code p0731 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor in gear 1. Code p0732 when the code p0732 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing a greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor when the vehicle is in 2nd gear. Code p0733 when the code p0733 is set in the powertrain computer, it means that the powertrain computer or pcm is seeing a greater than a specified rpm difference between the rotational speed of the input rpm sensor and the transmission output rpm sensor when the vehicle is in 3rd gear.
Normal driving about 40 mph, then sudden down shift. Speedo to 0 while tach revs and all other gauges quit. I see a recall on 2012 raptors involving lead frame replacement and pcm reset. Mine has the same tranny as recalled. Happened yesterday once while I drove and 4 times today while wife drove. She was almost rear-ended.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph without warning, the vehicle downshifted from 5th gear down to 1st gear. The vehicle was taken to tom's Ford located at 200 NJ-35, keyport, NJ 07735, (732) 264-1600, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ecm/tcm/pcm needed to be reset. The reset was performed and the vehicle functioned properly. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. Djr.
My Ford f150 with 6r80 automatic transmission vehicle frequently loses vehicle speedometer reading - the display drops outs to zero mph and rough & dangerous downshifts often results even at freeway speeds @ 75 mph. It has happened many times beginning summer of 2017 with stored pcm fault codes still present.
While traveling on interstate at approximately 70 mph, speedometer suddenly went to zero and transmission shifted from 6th gear to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to slide from the sudden deceleration, nearly causing an accident. Vehicle had previously been taken to dealership for service due to a similar issue where the indicated speed would suddenly change while traveling at constant speed and the transmission would downshift 2 or more gears in response. Pcm was reprogrammed at that time but the issue would still occur periodically. Dealership is now replacing the transmission molded leadframe at a cost of over $1000. This defect is identical to Ford safety recall 16s19, but the recall only covers year model 2011 & 2012 vehicles. This is a major safety issue that needs to be covered be a recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred only during rainy or humid weather conditions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three separate occasions where the six spark plugs, converter assembly, and nuts were replaced. In addition, the pcm was updated, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 11,132.
