Driving in a neighborhood down a steep hill and brakes failed and pedal went all the way to the floor. Almost crashed into a house. Had to slam on emergency brake and slam gears into a downshift mode . Came to a stop at the yard. The shop said the lines broke at the caliper in the rubber lines and fluid was all over the under carriage.
Left brake line collapsed resulting in the replacement of brake line, caliper, brake pads and rotor. I was driving, applied brakes and heard squealing. This was on highway driving coming into the city. The next morning took drove the truck to mechanic and was told these items had been affected by the collapse of the brake line.
25000 miles. Have to replace front brakes, right front caliper sticking. Rotors, pads, caliper, and hose all have to be replaced. Normal driving no towing or heavy loads. A known problem to Ford and dealers. Ford thinks it's not a safety problem. Since when are low mileage brake failures not a safety problem? huge expense. Ford needs to be accountable. Fortunately this was caught when tires were rotated. No accident or damage.
Front end shaking at and rotors turned under warranty at 15k, same thing at 23k and rotors turned again. Same thing at 35k and still under warranty. Now it is 46k and Ford can't turn rotors because rotors are out of spec. I have never had rotors warp this fast and F-150 is only driven on highway. Ford should fix the calipers or rotors, this is a problem from the factory.
The right front break keeps over heating even after repeated replacement of calipers rotors and pads. The system locked up and caused heat damage to the flexible line connecting the metal line to caliper and all break components. This ocurred less than 5000 miles after complete break replacement on all tires. The mechanic stated that the driver front still had 99% of its pad. After replacing all components it did it again in less than 100 miles. The shop replaced the caliper and pads saying that it must have been a bad caliper but new one already to hot to touch after only 50 miles. Their \must be a pressure problem as the driver side is cool to the touch and passenger side you can feel the heat at hood level. The truck was made 2-13 dearborn plant. I have noticed a excessive wear on this side of the vehicle since I have owner it. Bought it new. Problem occurred on the highway.
Front brake assembly engaged and did not fully release causing the pad and caliper to eventually grind thru to metal destroying the entire assembly. Had to have entire assembly replaced and tech stated it was a known issue.
Brake pads are severely deteriorating early in their lifespan. Front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced at 25,841 miles. Dealer said it was a caliber hanging up. Happened again at 39,425 miles. Rotor was gouged again on opposite side . Dealer stated caliper and rotors were not defective. Possible defective brake pads. Same failure on my wifes 2013 Ford fusion se.
Loud screeching. Took it to my local mechanic and was told to take my truck to Ford. My calipers may be calibrated incorrectly. The wheels were taken off and the drivers side brakes were engraved due to the metal on metal braking. My finger would be able to fit into the the deep engraved scratch on that brake. The passenger side was not the same but the mechanic said that it was going to happen soon if it's not taken care of quickly. I was told that the brakes, brake pad and rotors were completely ruined. To my amazement the dash board controls state that my brakes are fine. My mechanic said this is a manufactures defect and needs to be seen by Ford.
