The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while in reverse, the brakes failed to operate as designed. The parking brakes functioned as designed but there was no pressure on the brake pedal. The contact believed that the failure was associated with a faulty brake master cylinder which failed to allow pressure in the braking system. The local dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the failure occurred while it was raining. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the brake pedal had to be depressed several times before the brakes responded as needed. In addition, the low brake fluid warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic) in November 2016, which included the replacement of the brake master cylinder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,837.
Received low brake fluid warning and then catastrophic sudden brake loss to the vehicle. I used the emergency brake to slow and stop the vehicle . Master cylinder seal has failed and filled brake booster with brake fluid. Vehicle was in very light traffic when failure occurred. I have made repairs with new oem motorcraft parts to restore brakes. Vehicle mileage is 72k miles. 6. 2 v8 2wd. I have receipts of my repairs.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The brake pedal was pushed to the floor however, the stopping distance was extended. The low brake fluid low message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake booster and brake master cylinder were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer keesee motor company located at 111 s broadway, cortez, CO 81321 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Brake fluid filled the booster and ruined master cylinder.
2013 Ford F-150 recalled by Ford in 2016 under recall 16v345000. Vehicle had the defective hitachi master cylinder replaced in may of 2017 by jenkins Ford in fort meade florida at no charge. On July 30th 2020 while traveling on an interstate depressed brake pedal, travelled to the floor with minimal braking and brake fluid low level light came on with warning chime. Remained in control to stop vehicle with no accident. Vehicle towed to bartow Ford, diagnosed as faulty master cylinder seal allowing complete bypass of brake fluid into the vacuum booster. Ford refused to pay for this repair $1282 claiming they had fixed this problem in 2017. Upon investigation confirmed that the defective hitachi master cylinder was replaced with another identical defective hitachi master cylinder. It makes no sense to try to correct a defect with the identical defective part when the braking of a 6000 pound vehicle is at stake! I just saw another recall just out for 2015 thru 2018 f150 with the same poorly designed single seal master cylinder. How many other complaints have there been for the replacement master cylinder also failing?.
The master cylinder is dumping the fluid from the primary reservoir into the brake booster, resulting in the loss of brakes. My vehicle was not covered by the previous recall (16s24), but is experiencing the same issue. My vehicle is a f150 platinum with the 3. 5l eco boost engine. The vehicle has approximately 87,000 miles. The brake loss occurred while the vehicle was sitting in a park.
Drove truck to work no issues. Went to leave for the day, pressed the brakes to shift into reverse and brake pedal went to the floor followed by a brake fluid low message. Checked fluid and it was below min line. Checked for leaks under and at each wheel. No fluid found. Contacted Ford to check for recall and they stated my truck was not part of their brake master cylinder recall.
I have a 2013 f150 that the brakes went out on. Mechanic diagnosing it says master cylinder is leaking into the brake booster. There is a safety recall for 2013-2014 f150's but mine is not included on this recall. . . Why? I was driving when I went to stop at a stop sign and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I was lucky there wasn't a vehicle in front of me or I would have hit them. I was in a neighborhood.
Blower motor is turning on and off and I have no air when it is 80 degrees 90 degrees and hot! also, hadd to replace master cylinder and was told my truck was not part of recall with exact same problems as recall.
The brake master cylinder went out while I was driving and I nearly hit the car in front of me. When I took the truck into the shop, I was told that the master cylinder had a leak and would not consistently hold pressure so it had to be replaced. After doing some research, I found a recall by Ford with recall id 16s24 for this exact same problem and when I was told what needed replaced, it was almost word for word what this recall stated. I found this information after I had already gotten the master cylinder replaced so I called Ford to speak with their recall department. I was told that this issue was not covered by the recall because my truck was manufactured after the date of what was defined in the recall. It seems to me that a truck built in the same year that had master cylinders affected would be covered by the recall. This repair cost $663. 57. Losing brake pressure could have caused serious injury had I been on the highway or needing to come to an abrupt stop. A picture of the repair invoice is attached but a better copy can be provided upon request.
Brakes failed while driving on the interstate. Diagnosed as bad master cylinder and brake booster.
Master cylinder - braking system failed - my truck make/model/year/engine shows recalls everywhere on the internet for this, however, my VIN# isn't listed for this and I need to get my replaced ASAP as my brakes failed due to this issue.
My 2013 f150 was parked under my carport and I got in it to move it and hook up a small trailer. The warning light came on saying low brake fluid. I had a bottle and filled it. Got back in and moved 20 feet and had no brake pedal at all and the warning was on again. I checked and it is empty again. I saw online that this was a problem with many 2013 f150 trucks. And that there was a recall on this. Called the service dept. And was told that my truck was not covered by the recall !! I see no leaks so it must be the brake master cylinder and or booster !! but now I am not able to drive it to get repaired and have limited income being disabled !! so my complaint is if others of this same year and model f150 were in a recall for the exact same problem, then why is my f150 not covered in the recall. If I had been driving this truck when the brakes completely failed I could have easily been killed or have killed someone else !!! why did I get screwed and not covered by the recall ???.
Master cylinder leak causing low brake fuild and loss of brakes. Saw an older recall notice on this year of truck but my VIN does not show it as recall .
Brake master cylinder failure. The master cylinder has developed a leak that caused brake fluid to drain into the brake booster, then causing the engine to suck brake fluid into the motor. The brake pedal went straight to the floor. This could of potentially caused an accident, or even a death if the problem was not noticed sooner. The vehicle almost lost all braking force which could of killed someone. Ford is denying to fix the recall #16s24 for the vehicle because it was not manufactured during the years of the recall. Problem is the issue the vehicle has is the exact same issue taken care of in the mentioned recall, for the exact same make and model truck.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was a failure with the brake seal that caused brake fluid to release from the cylinder into the brake master cylinder. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle when the failure occurred. The vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. Anderson Ford bullhead city (928-482-3238, located at 2585 az-95, bullhead city, az 86442) was made aware of the failure by the contact and the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 27,630.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. Also, the low brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. The parking brake was applied to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to ricart Ford (4255 s hamilton rd, groveport, OH 43125, (614) 836-6260) where it was diagnosed that the rear most cup seal in the brake master cylinder rolled, resulting in leaking from the brake fluid reservoir in the brake booster. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: cas-17958951-h8h4s3. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000. The VIN was not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be repaired. The contact called mike patton Ford Lincoln (1402 lafayette pkwy, lagrange, GA 30241, (844) 202-5803) to notify them of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 102,000.
I have had 3 issues with the vehicles brake master cylinder failing. All in a 4 month period. The brake master cylinder fails and I am left with little or no brakes. The dealership tells me I have some kind of contamination in the fluid. They have replaced the master cylinder twice and Ford will not do anything about the problem, so I am advised to replace all brake components to the tune of 2500. Dollars. This is a serious issue that Ford motor company should address and wont help me at all. The brakes don't give you any warning when they are going to fail. Every time they fail I have been driving, luckily no one has been killed or injured yet. Nobody can guaranty me if I fix the braking system that it will work like it is supposed to.
Brake master cylinder fail. I have had 2 brake master cylinder fails and will be taking the vehicle in for the 3rd time to replace another brake master cylinder. This has happened since August 2018. 3 master cylinders within the last 5 months.
3 major brake jobs in less that 70 thousand miles and a recall to the brake master cylinder. I have had a pulsing in my pedal and front end literally at 20k mile intervals and have had to machine / resurface or fully replace rotors and pads 3 times on a truck with only 60k in miles on it Ford still refuses to admit a problem however the rotors they are using have since been replaced in fact after the 2 years of using these rotors but the problem still remains I just want to something on record should something happen to myself or any one I have as a passenger as written documentation of this continued problem. This is not only dangerous its irresponsible on their part.
I woke up in early morning to leave for work. I backed out of my drive way and pushed brake pedal to stop truck and put it in drive, but the truck rolled down an hill and into trees. While pushing the brake pedal it went to the floor like I had no brakes at all. The truck did not stop till it was in the tree. My brake fluid is low which is a sign of the proposed recall which Ford is disputing. This is extremely dangerous and Ford says they are not aware of the problem although after looking online, it shows they are being investigated due to the issues with the brake booster box and master cylinder malfunctioning. Please help us make Ford recall these before someone is seriously injured or dies. My truck is also showing brake fluid has been used, its about 1/2 full now. This is a common issue found when the master cylinder problem is in the truck.
Brake fluid level sensor came on while driving on interstate at highway speeds. No brakes after that point. Coasted off the highway, checked fluid level, empty. Added 20 oz to max fill level, leaked out inside of 6 minutes. Towed to dealership, replaced brake master cylinder under Ford recall 16s24. Not sure booster was replaced. Issue is I check my fluid level every week before getting on the highway, I knew there was a recall issued March 2017, but with my fluid level standing full, didn't think it was an issue, I had plans to do the recall in oct. This is not a slow leak, this is a full on seal failure with draining of the reservoir inside 6 minutes with the truck parked. When that light comes on, you are done with brakes. I just wanted you to know this is a sudden and total loss of fluid and not just a "leak". And there are no rear brakes, you don't just loose the front brakes, you have zero brakes. Didn't have to apply the emergency brake, was able to coast to a stop in the parking lot of a gas station.
As I was driving home from work on the highway, I started to stop at a red light. My brake pedal went all the way to the floor with very minor speed reduction. I attempted to pump the brake pedal, but had to use the emergency brake to actually come to a stop. After some investigation, I was told my master cylinder had been leaking into my brake booster and both needed to be changed. This was recalled in 2016, but only for 2013-2014 f150 with a 3. 5l engine. Since I have a 2013 f150 with a 5. 0l mine was not recalled which almost caused me to have a wreck. Now I am paying out of pocket to fix it.
Brake failure due to master cylinder leakage into brake booster.
The brakes were scrubbing. Didn't have any brakes. Took it to the dealership they replaced the master cylinder but told us it was not in a recall. The same problem existed with this truck as with the trucks that were recalled. Why wasn't m y truck included in the recall? this happened while I was driving on the highway.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. A brake failure indicator illuminated after the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes), but the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local Ford dealer. The failure mileage was 60,000.
2013 Ford f150 purchase 2 yrs ago with 51k in miles. The dealer had installed new breaks and rotors. The other day I started hearing a bad break noise so I took a look. The outside pads still had enough pad on them to see. I was away from home for the day so the next day I ordered pads and rotors. From the time I left my house taking neighborhood streets to the auto parts store to the time I got back I went from break noise to only an emergency break. I take off the passenger tire to find brake fluid everywhere. I open the hood to see the reservoir empty. I remove the caliper to find there is no inner break pad, not even a steel plate? the caliper piston had hit the rotor and melted a bit. In all my years I have never seen or heard of a break pad coming loose from the holder. I found the steel plate the pad attaches to stuck in the shroud. Got it out and looked at it. It doesn't appear to be that much thinner than a new one. So I get to looking into it and read lots of people talking about excessive wear on the inside front pads. I also find out about a recall for the master cylinder. I put the vehicle back together and park it. Check the mail box to find a recall notice for it. I get the truck into the dealer and am told Ford will only cover the master cylinder. Now there are no noise indicators on the brake pads to tell you of ware anymore. And why did the plate come out of the holder. I am thankful I wasn't on the highway with my grandson. The truck only has 31k more miles on it than when the dealer replaced the brakes before. Most of those are highway and I don't haul things. I think this is a life safety issue and poor engineering.
I first noticed the problem when I was slowing to a stop on a city street. I had my foot on the brake pedal applying constant pressure and the vehicle was slowing down. Then it felt as if the brakes had loosened and the car was no longer slowing down. I "pumped" the brake pedal (let up on the pedal and then re-applied pressure) and I had pedal pressure and was able to apply brakes to slow down. I tested the brakes again at the next intersection and they felt fine so I ignored it thinking I had probably lifted my foot off the pedal. It happened 1 or 2 other times, and I also had my wife drive the vehicle to ensure it wasn't just me. She also noticed the odd feel and behavior of the brake pedal. At this time (maybe 1 week after first noticing the problem), I was testing the brakes and was able to push the peddle all the way to the floor. It had brake pedal, but if I kept increasing the pressure, it would go to the floor, but with some resistance. Think of an air mattress as you are pushing air out of it. That is what it felt like. It was at this point I took it into my local dealership and they confirmed the master cylinder was faulty and needed to be replaced. There is an existing recall on the same make, model, and year of my vehicle (investigation: pe 16-003, recall: 16v-345), but only for vehicles manufactured August 1, 2013, to August 31, 2014. My vehicle was manufactured in June 2013 at the kansas, missouri plant.
I started the truck and the "low brake fluid" light came on. I drove to the nearest repair facility (about 4. 7 miles) upon arrival the brakes went to the floor, after pumping the h$ll out of them I barely stopped before crashing into a group of cars. Come to find out the master cylinder is blowing fluid into the brake power booster on each press of the brakes. This happened all of the sudden and could have been very deadly if not for the fact that I was going very slow to begin with due to traffic. Now why, after not even 30k miles would this catastrophic failure happen?.
Brake failure , master cylinder, 2013 and 2014 models where recalled but they say this VIN was not in recall, it needs to be before some one dies, while driving we had total brake failure and lucky we were only going 25 mph and able to use emergency brake to stop. 100 yards and we would have been on freeway doing 75 mph.
Leaking master cylinder and power booster. Dealer says it's not on recall.
Drove the truck 270 miles at interstate speed on I-95 to a grand daughters graduation in providence ri. At that location while driving at city speeds(35 mph) warning came on "brake fluid low" I checked the brake fluid level and it was low but there was still an inch of fluid in the reservoir, on the 2 mile trip back to the location we were staying, driving at about 35 mph, the brake pedal went to the floor and I lost all break power. The reservoir was completely empty, there was no sign of any break fluid oil under the truck or on the under carriage. Had the vehicle towed to a repair shop where the mechanics diagnosis was a failed master brake cylinder where all the brake fluid was sucked into the brake booster. Had to book an extra night in providence while waiting for the new master cylinder to arrive. After replacement of the master cylinder the drive, 270 miles home was without incident.
Lost all ability to brake while driving 50 mph on state highway. Due to fortunate circumstances and favorable traffic conditions, no injuries were suffered. Ford dealer diagnosed the problem as a master cylinder leak that is similar to a current recall for this year, make, and model. Despite having an identical master cylinder failure of an active recall, my VIN number was not listed on the Ford recalls list for this issue.
