36 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2017

Brakes failed. Was driving to work when I need to stop for red light and pedal went to the floor and I almost went thru the intersection on highway route 100. This was do to the master cylinder and brake booster frailer. I know there is a recall for this but my model and VIN # is not included. It has since been repaired by the dealer at a cost to me and not under any recall like the other models.

37 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2016

My master cylinder leaked and cause my breaks to lock up ,that's what my repair shop said.

38 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2016

Bought truck with 45000 miles. Drove 7000 miles. Took it to dealership for oil change and they tell me front left caliper has locked up. Need to replace caliper and brake pads. Took truck to another place for second opinion. They figured out caliper pins not lubricated and that is why it was locking up. Had to replace rotors and brake pads. During test, master cylinder failed. Have to replace. Dealership refused to take any responsibility and fix problem. There is a recall for 2013 Ford f150's master cylinder.

39 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

Loss of brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir into the brake booster.

40 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Complete brake failure. The warning light indicator " low brake fluid" came on, followed by full brake failure. Towed to dealer- not included in the previous recall dated may 25th 2016. The result of the failure was due to the master cylinder and brake booster. All parts back ordered. 2 weeks for the booster and 4th qtr for the master cylinder. Vehicle was manufactured on July 20th 2013, just days before the dated recall of August 1st 2013. Open a case with fmc. Status pending. .

41 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

Brakes failed while 2013 eccoboost 3. 5l F-150 was parked. Stepped on brake pedal to shift out of park and pedal went to the floor. No prior indication of a problem. Looked at master cylinder fluid level and completely empty. No brakes at all, front or back. Moved truck to Ford dealer for repair. Dealer did not have parts and had to special order them.

42 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

From the Ford recall notice 16s24 "brake function in the rear wheels is unaffected by this condition". Wrong! I experienced the low brake fluid warning message and the master cylinder reservoir is also the source for the rear brakes. In my case, I had complete brake failure, pedal to the floorboard. Backing out of the garage to take the truck to the dealer, it would not stop at engine idle speed and broke the rear view mirror on the garage door opening. I am having the truck towed to the dealer. Hate to think of what would have happened had I gotten on the road. The recall notice downplays the severity of the condition and this is unacceptable. I checked yes on the crash question because of the collision with the garage door opening.

43 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

I had complete brake failure. Master cylinder leaked into the booster. I thought it would be part of the existing recall, but my build date of 10/2012 was not included.

44 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

I just received a recall notice regarding the brakes failing to stop the vehicle due to a defect in the master cylinder. When I call the Ford dealer where I purchased the truck, I was advised that they don't have "fix" for the problem yet, but may have that by the end of the year. This vehicle is unsafe and yet Ford has no repair for it? how about they pay me back and I buy a chevy? I don't operate the vehicle because of the brake recall.

45 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2016

On 6/5/2016 the low brake fluid warning light came on and the brake fluid reservoir was empty. We were near harold Ford in sacramento, CA, so we dropped the truck off for repair. On 6/6/2016, the master cylinder and brake booster were replaced.

46 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2016

I would you like to revisit ins # 11229625 may 24 23016. I think Ford mis represented how many brake master cylinders were installed on new 2013 f150 that are bad and causing loss of most braking and $1200 fix because it also damages the vaccume canister fill up with brake fluid . . . . . No warnings when failed I was in reverse in a walmart parking lot.

47 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2016

Brake peddle goes almost to the floor when trying to stop. You have to give extra time and pump the brakes to stop. I had the brake pads replaced and the issue got worse and the mechanic stated there was an issue with the master cylinder. This should not be an issue at 48,000 miles.

48 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford f150. The contact was traveling for work pulled into the hotel parking lot traveling at approximately 5 mph the brakes failed without warning. The contact depressed the brake pedal all the way to the floor and had to put vehicle in park to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis was that the master cylinder and the booster pump had to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage 48000. Am.

49 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2016

3 weeks ago, the front brakes on my '13 f150 began vibrating for long periods of time at slower speeds and did not feel like they were releasing at all after braking. This occurred when the brakes were still cool and in all conditions, dry, snow and rain. The truck had barely 40k miles so I took it to brakes plus and they said that the brake pads were completely falling apart; disintegrating they said. I had them install new brakes ($275) and the vibration went away for 2 weeks, but started up again. It could be felt in the steering wheel and appeared to be keeping the vehicle from accelerating. I took the truck back to the dealership (larry h miller Ford, lakewood, CO) where I had purchased it used about 8 mos prior. I had the coverage of an extended warranty to 48k miles. They said they inspected the brakes and drove it and could find nothing wrong. Interestingly enough, the vibration is completely gone now and it's been about 3 weeks?? I am convinced they did something to repair the problem but did now want to tell me what they found. Especially if in the future the calipers, master cylinder, or something else major on the brakes was going to fail.

50 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Problem with master cylinder power booster pump, vehicle fails to stop while moving at short distance and low speed 15 miles or less highwy and city. Vehicle stops while moving at long distance and high speed 15 miles or more highway and city. Brake pedals vibrate and go to bottom at low speeds 15 miles or less highway and city.

51 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2016

I purchased my truck on January 6th, 2016. I noticed the soft pedal on my test drive, and the dealer said they would be happy to fix the issue at no charge to me, so I made an appointment to have the brakes serviced. They replaced the front pads, and cut the rotors, replaced the rear pads and rotors. My brakes were worse. I explained that the brake pedal travels to the floor. Even if you "pump" the brakes, the pedal will still continue to go to the floor. Under normal, gradual braking, the is excessive travel before the brakes start to grab. Under a "panic stop", the pedal will go right down with poor response. After 3 more trips, they have replaced the master cylinder, abs module, all four pads, rear rotors, and bled the system. No improvement has been achieved, and they have since said they cannot do anything more for me.

52 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2015

Low brake fluid warning light came on and brake pedal went to floor. No visible leaks. I stopped the vehicle and added fluid, next morning reservoir was empty again, no fluid on the ground under vehicle. I took the truck to the Ford dealer for warranty repair. The mileage was 24088. Dealer stated "booster was full of brake fluid" and replaced booster pump and master cylinder. I have noted other online complaints for the same failure on this same model and year of truck. I feel an investigation should be opened due to the severity of the nature of this type of failure.

53 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Brake master cylinder failed resulting in total loss of braking. The vehicle has a 5. 0l v8 engine. I was approaching a left turn and applied pressure to my brake pedal and lost braking at that point. Very low mileage on the vehicle when it failed, 14,813.

54 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

Low brake fluid warning came on while driving. Pulled into gas station, saw brake fluid reservoir was near empty. There was no signs of a leak. Bought and refilled brake fluid and drove to dealership-1 mile away- brake fluid reservoir was 1/2 full. Service representative, knew right off hand what the issue was, brake master cylinder failure bleeding into the reservoir. Luckily I was able to get to aservice c enter. Took days to get parts. Seems like a known issue with Ford and they're avoiding a recall. . .

55 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2015

My family and I were preparing to pull out of a croded parking lot as we were leaving a baseball tournament. My husband attempted to put the truck into drive and as he shifted, the truck lunged backward as he had no brakes to stop the vehicle. He had to throw it into p to stop. A mother and her son were walking near the vehicle at this time, my husband was quite unnerved. He turned the vehicle off and went to a local store for brake fluid in order to drive home. He took the truck to the nearest dealer where they had discovered that the master cylinder and entire brake system failed. There was no warning to this issue. Our truck only has 44,000miles and is 2 years old. This is our family vehicle used to transport our children, not to haul or tow things. I researched this issue online and contacted Ford after realizing that our truck was not the only truck with this issue. I spoke with regional manager randy copeland regarding the issue and expressed my concerns that this is a huge safety issue. An entire brake system should never fail unless it was faulty, especially on a newer vehicle. I explained to him that this is a serious issue and could result in loss of lives if it is not addressed. I was told to worry about my own vehicle. I was told that I need to keep conversation professional, I was upset at the fact that he dismissed the seriousness of no brakes. My concerns fell on deaf ears. I want Ford to realize the seriousness of this safety issue. Mr. Copeland also could not answer my question- what would Ford have done if my husband would have backed over this mother and her son. I want Ford to recognize this problem and take action before someone is seriously injured or lives are lost.

56 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

Backed up to boat trailer. Attached trailer to F-150 platinum. Brake pedal went to the floor. Checked brake fluid level and there was no fluid. Added (3) 6 oz. Bottles. No external leaks found anywhere. Bled brake lines to get vehicle home. Dealer found that the master cylinder seal blew and all the brake fluid went into the booster. Booster on back order for 5 days. I am having to pay to have booster replaced, seal, and abs system flush. This was very dangerous for me as I was towing my 17ft boat up a mountain @ 7% grade for 17 miles. I have read the recorded complaints for this same issue and it appears to have happened to many people over the last 2 years. Ford please fix this.

57 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Whenever at a stop in traffic, the brake pedal drifted to the floor causing loss of breaks resulting in striking the car in front of me. The trucks been at Ford to replace multiple pieces of the brake system with absolutely no better result. The master cylinder resovior was found empty twice prior to this problem surfacing.

58 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

Complete loss of brakes. Had truck towed to Ford dealership. They diagnosed defective master cylinder and brake booster. Was told by dealership that the parts are on nation wide back order. This indicates there is a serious problem and this is not an isolated incident. I am being required to pay because vehicle is no longer under warranty. Brakes should never completely fail. This could have had catastrophic results. If Ford does not recognize this issue and take responsibility soon and fix it, someone will be killed.

59 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

On 5/1/15, while backing out of my driveway, as I attempted to brake, the brake pedal went completely to the floor, and there was no stopping power. While attempting to pump the brake and use the parking brake, my vehicle crossed the street, went up the curb, and struck my neighbor's landscape wall, damaging it severely. Total distance travelled was approximately 2. 5 truck lengths before impacting the neighbor's wall. Upon inspection by myself and later my insurance investigator, the brake fluid reservoir was empty, but there were no obvious signs of leakage. No puddles or visible brake fluid. Truck was towed to local dealer who diagnosed the problem as 'brake failure due to leak faulty brake master cylinder'. Within a few days, the brakes again did not feel right with a strange pedal feel. Gradually, the worsening pedal feel was accompanied by a metallic scraping or grinding noise. A second trip to a dealer revealed a failed brake booster due to brake fluid ingestion, which also explained why there was no visible evidence of a leak after the crash. The brake booster operates at a vacuum, so as the master cylinder leaked catastrophically, the booster sucked in the fluid, causing it to ultimately fail as well. Both the brake master cylinder and the brake booster were replaced under warranty. I am surprised that there as been no action on this issue yet - the complete failure of the most important safety system of a 2. 5+ ton vehicle - as there are numerous nearly identical failure modes with this model and year. I truly hope nobody is killed by this; it was truly terrifying to be without brakes while moving in reverse in a massive vehicle.

60 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

While driving down the interstate with my wife and two young boys heading to baseball practice, I lost all brake pressure and had a difficult time bringing the car to a halt. After several days in the shop, the service manager informed me the master cylinder lost all its fluid which caused the problem. The vehicle was ~16 months old and had ~37,000 miles (just barely out of warranty). The dealership was able to fix it after several days and only charged $100 as it was close to being in warranty and seemed like a highly unusual event. I didn't think much of it other than a one off fluke but saw an article this morning that others had the same issue. I have had no other issues since the resolution but obviously concerned it could happen again without warning if its a systemic problem with the braking system.

61 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

Truck was parked several hours in son-in-laws driveway. Wife got in truck, after cranking and placing in reverse, no brakes! backed into son-in laws vehicle damaging it and damaging f 150. F 150 still under warranty, taken to mullinax Ford mobile al. Found mastercylinder defect , failed gasket caused brake booster to fail. Master cylinder replaced by mullinax Ford, mobile al.

62 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle hesitated to stop when the brake pedal was depressed and the brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
