While driving brake pedal went to the floor, after that brake light came on, unable to stop, move to the side of the road and stopped with parking brake slowly. Upon inspection no brake fluid at reservoir and no external leaks. Brake fluid went to brake booster. Upon research Ford has a recall to address the same complain, but my VIN is not part of the recall. Went to dealer and called Ford, and they could not help by stating that my VIN is not part of the recall , even if the year is part of it the VIN is not. My f150 VIN is 1ftfw1et1dfd00487 my name rodolfo rodriguez. Turborudy@hotmail. Com.
While driving interstate, 65 mph, towing travel trailer (6500 lbs). Clear weather day, 72 degrees. Brake light warning light illuminated. When trying to exit interstate to investigate issue, experienced complete brake failure, both front and rear. Fortunately, I was able to use trailer electronic brakes to stop my vehicle. Upon inspection, I found no loss of brake fluid. No visible explanation for total brake failure.
I was driving down the highway at 60 mph a car pull over into lane in front of me? I stepped on the brakes and they were as hard as a rock, luckily I steered to the aide of the highway and down shifted till the truck came to a rolling stop, the brake and the parking brake light are on and the brakes were still as hard as a rock , I tried shutting the truck off and restarting, and still the same result, I put the truck in drive after awhile and kept messing with it pushing as hard as could on the brake pedal and I got a little bit of brakes , after driving a few miles they started working again, now I'm afraid waiting wondering if it's not gonna work again, it's dangerous, it's my main vehicle and most of my family randomly uses it. I've had a lot of problems with this truck.
Extremely hard brake pedal, vehicle will not stop easily in normal braking conditions, if pedal is pumped repeatedly red brake light and check brake system warning appear. If key is cycled on then off warnings go away but brake pedal feels the same. After extensive research I found vacuum pump (non electric) leaking oil. I replaced it and the same issues still happen. I've found 2 recalls that don't apply to my truck. One recall states the master cylinder seal is leaking which causes the brake pedal to go to the to floor. The other is a stiff pedal but that one was for an electric vacuum pump issue. Please help before Ford kills me. Also. I asked my local dealership (bell Ford) for tsbs regarding this and was denied the information. This should be classified as a safety recall that never ever expires!!!!!!!!!.
Vehicle was pulling a light-weight trailer when all of a sudden the brakes would not work. We glided over to the edge of the highway and drifted until we were able to slow. The brakes would work slightly when pressed extremely hard. The brake failure lights appeared. We have a 2013 f150 with the exact problems as the recalled trucks--but, our VIN/truck is not included.
Takata recall master cylinder leaking by low brake fuild lights goes on find no visible leaks. Found recall of this problem but no active recall on my VIN number. Not sure if it was fixed but is now a problem and I would like to get it fixed before I end up in an accident with my children in car. Primary vehicle so drive it a lot. Thanks.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, he began to notice that his brakes were hardening, making it difficult to come to a complete stop. As this failure occurred, the service brake warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him to take the vehicle to a dealership. The contact then called his local dealership (franklin Ford 175 east central street, franklin, MA 02038 (508) 570-4022) where he was informed that the vehicle has not been placed under recall and to notify the manufacturer. The contact notified the manufacturer who then referred him to the national highway traffic safety administration. The vehicle has not been repaired, the failure mileage was 86,000.
I was driving down the road and the low brake fluid light came on. Then as I tried to slow down I had no brakes. Managed to coast over to side of road and come to a stop. Had it towed to Ford dealership. They said master cylinder was leaking into brake booster. Had to replace brake master cylinder and bleed system.
A advance track and brake service light came on. After a dealership inspection I was informed the pressure transducer is showing over 200 psi when no brake is applied. Dealership says it needs a new hcu. 1500$ cost for a hcu this is unsat a person should not have to worry about brakes going out overnight like I was informed could happen. This should be fixed with a recall.

~95% brake power loss. Vehicle was stationary, and once started the low brake fluid light came on. Brake function was reduced to about 5% of normal function. Refilled fluid in reservoir and all fluid was lost during first 5 miles of driving. At this time there was only about 5% of brake power remaining and the vehicle had to be stopped using gear downshifts and the emergency brake. I checked over the vehicle and there was no apparent fluid loss in the engine bay or the brake lines. Took to Ford dealership and it was diagnosed as a master cylinder leak into the brake booster. This problem is an active recall with 2013 and 2014 model year F-150's, however my manufacture date did not fall within this recall.
Failure of master cylinder with no warning. Only indication was a message indicating low fluid level and brake light on dash illuminating. Some breaking ability was retained but was dimished. Issue occurred while one a lightly trafficed local road. Refilling of fluid only resulted in same loss of fluid and warning lights reoccurring a few moments later. Diagnosed as failed master cylinder and fluid accumulation in brake booster also necessitated its replacement, with both replaced under warranty. This is a my13 3. 5 l ecoboost model with a July 17 2013 build date, and 59500 miles. This is just 2 weeks outside of effected vehicles previously recalled for this exact issue.
Vehicle brakes failed completely with no warning. Brake pedal went to the floor as I approached a stop light with 2 card in front of me, I was able to engage the e brake to stop the truck. Immediately after the incident the brake warning light illuminated as well as the low brake fluid warning indicator. I refilled the brake fluid reservoir but after driving a few miles the alarm sounded again, once again the brake fluid reservoir was completely empty. Vehicle is unsafe to operate.
Driving on highway, low brake fluid light came on, got off at closest exit, brakes went to floor had to use emergency brake to stop. No fluid in master cylinder, no sign of leaks, walked to walmart bought fluid, filled with fluid, drove home, light came on again, pulled into garage hit wall when brakes went to floor,. Contacted local Ford dealer and Ford customer assistance and was told my truck was not part of the recall, 16v345000. My truck build date is 7/2013, action covers build date starting 8/ 2013. Everything else is same, 3. 5 ecoboost, built in dearborn. 42,384 miles just out of 3/36 bomber to bumper warranty. 5/50 is in effect but does not cover brakes.
Driving on interstate when brake light came on. Tried brakes but they did not work. Very hard pedal that could not be pressed on without noises coming the brakes. Stopped vehicle with ebrake and took to locale Ford dealer. Discovered that vacuum pump locked up causing the exaust cam to break into pcs inside the motor. Had to replace motor due to the vacuum pump issue.
I am having brake issues just had all new brakes and rotors replaced as check brake system light has come on after repairs were made I was still having issues that I was having prior to repair loss of braking system on several occasions with kids in the car brake goes to the floor and some time later re gain breaking system very scary I have paid over 40 thousand dollar for this truck and well over 8 thousand in repairs what has to be done before recall is issued the run around between dealerships and he said she said. I guess someone has to be killed before there is a recall this is absurd.
1st occurrence I was driving in town, moderate traffic and I depressed the brake pedal and it was rock solid and I could barely slow the vehicle with both feet pressing as hard as I could and the brake warning lights came on. I turned the vehicle off then when I restarted several minutes later, the issue went away. A couple of days later, I received the brake booster recall notice and took the vehicle in for repair at the lacal dealer. A couple of weeks after the booster recall repair I had the same issue on a rural road nearly causing an accident. I took the truck to the dealer immediately with all of the warning light illuminated and issue still occuring. The Ford dealer said it needed the vacuum pump replaced so I told them to go ahead, they charged approximately $360 for the repair. Yesterday, after turning off of a rural road to a more developed shopping area, I lost braking function with the same symptoms as previously described at a traffic light and had to use the parking brake to decelerate. I again parked the vehicle, turned off the ignition and after about 30 minutes, the brakes were working again. I have made an appointment with the dealer to have this diagnosed again in 2 days. Thank goodness my this hasn't occurred while towing my boat. The issue has occurred in both city and highway driving and always while the vehicle is in motion. Only once did the brake warning lights come on before loss of braking. The issue did not occur while turning.
Without warning brake pedal went to floor absolutely no brakes and low brake fluid light came on. Had to drive into the ditch to keep from hitting another car and used emergency brake to guan lily stop before hitting a tree. There was no warning or anything just absolutely no brakes. Master cykinder was empty put 6 pints of fluid in it. That just disappeared. No leaks any where under the truck. Ford recalled 271000 for this very issue. But mine is not included in recall. We were coming home from football game in heavy traffic at midnight. Had to call wrecker to get us home.
My low brake fluid light came on this morning and my brakes were completely out when I started my truck. No sign of leaking. Filled brake fluid went to work came out to get lunch and brake fluid gone and light on again. No sign of leak. 2013 f150 limited with the 3. 5l v6 engine. Could have been a very serious incident as I live on very busy roads. This is extremely concerning, I have 2 toddlers I drive and pick up from school everyday.
On 4/16/2016 I was involved in a collision. After investigating the cause, it was found that the master cylinder was low with no visible leaks. Witness stated that they saw my brake lights come on but my vehicle didn't slow down. I contacted Ford about this and they had the "we don't care" attitude. My truck is still under warranty, and has had 99% of all maintenance done through Ford.
Yesterday when I got into my truck and started it the low brake fluid light came on and the brake pedal instantly went to the floor leaving the truck with no brakes. I got out and checked the brake fluid reservoir level and it was completely empty but, there was no leaks anywhere, the truck had to be towed to get fixed. I discussed it with joe and upon exploring this further joe came across the attached article and it turns out this sudden total loss of breaks has happened to several other f150 truck and are being investigated.
I was driving my vehicle going towards charlotte's saddlery, which luckily was close to the Ford dealership. I was within a mile or two when this happened. All of a sudden the brake fluid light came on and then I heard a bang and smoke came out of the right side of the front of the car and I lost brakes. I could no longer brake but fortunately was not on a highway so I just drove the mile to the dealership very slowly keeping a big distance from any cars.
Started 2 weeks ago it was a cold 20 degree morning and my brake light / parking brake light was on. A little later it was off and thought it must be a switch. Short while later it was on and off and on over and over. I checked the brake fluid and found it to be between the max and min levels. I have put more in since then. The trucks braking for the most part seems ok but have noticed at times in town the pedal does sink slightly lower than normal. Now I have see this problem and it makes since its having symptoms similar to what others are complaining of. It is a 2013 F-150 fx4 3. 5 eboost. I hope Ford takes this serious I I'll be taking this to the Ford dealer here local to me and having it looked at. This problem makes me nervous does Ford even offer a updated part that won't break down again if I have my vehicle fixed? noticed if I'm parked on. On a hill facing down the hill the light will go off but flat or any other position light comes off and on also brake fluid is down little bit again.
On July 6,2015 I came out of the gym entered my truck ,turned it on the brake light came on and the peddle went all the way to the floor, luckily I was parked and not driving when it happened or the outcome could have been different. I called my dealer they sent a tow truck, out to pick up my vehicle. Brake fluid was low it had leaked internally from the master cylinder into the vacuum line then into brake booster. They had to replace the brake booster and the master cylinder. I just wanted to let you know that it is happening. My truck is an eco boost v6 and it is now March and I am taking my truck back in as son as I can get an appointment because of the front brakes grinding and squeezing, making noise when I come t a stop. My vehicle only has 27,000 plus miles. The brake failing happened at 22,000 plus miles. I have the invoice and work order in my possession when and if it is needed . I 'm as I stated earlier was lucky I wasn't moving . My only displeasure was that I had to rent a car for 2 days or stay home ,so even though they didn't charge me I still paid over 200. 00 for a rental car.
Owner driving pov entering interstate via onramp at approx. 60mph when check brake light appeared. Owner continued into traffic and reached speed of approx. 70mph when traffic slowed. Owner pushed brake pedal completely to floor with no slowing occurring. Owner pumped brakes numerous times, downshifted and utilized emergency brake to avoid collision going onto shoulder of interstate. Brake fluid reservoir was empty, no evidence of a leak found on undercarriage. Owner put more brake fluid in and was able to get pov home via slow speed, downshifting and emergency brake. Brake reservoir once again empty. After research online regarding master cylinder failure, owner replaced master cylinder and brakes are working without issue. . This incident could have obviously ended with someone seriously injured or even killed. Pov was no longer under warranty with approx. 48,000 miles so all repairs were at owners expense.
Total brake failure. Started vehicle and went to back up and brake peddle went to the floor, low brake fluid light light came on as soon as the peddle hit the floor. Vehicle was slowly moving backwards and would not stop. Tried pumping the peddle to stop the truck. Used parking brake to stop vehicle to avoid backing into other cars behind. Checked brake fluid level and found it was almost out, less than a 1/4 inch in the reservoir. Checked entire vehicle and no leaks could be found called crossroads Ford in cary, nc and they indicated I should fill it with dot3 fluid and bring it in. Filled reservoir to max line and pumped braked a few times until they were firm. Drove to the dealership, about 25 miles. No issues getting to the dealership other than the brakes were quite spongy and not too responsive. Upon inspection at the dealership, they removed the master cylinder and found the fluid had filled the brake booster and the master cylinder had failed. . This seems to be a very serious problem, I'm very lucky I wasn't killed or killed someone in an accident. Vehicle was just a little over 500 out of warranty.
Started vehicle at my work location, brake light came on, checked brake fluid resevior found it low. Filled with brake fuid, drove to dealer with less that 100% braking power. Dealer replaced brake master cylinder and booster. Dealer work ticket attached.
Brake failure while pulling a travel trailer on I-95 in virginia. The low brake fluid light came on and then the complete brake failure light came on and we had no brakes. I was able to coast to a stop on an uphill exit ramp. The vehicle and trailer had to be towed to a Ford dealership. Was told by the service manager at the Ford dealership that the master cylinder had failed and the fluid was pumped into the brake booster and contaminated the entire brake system.
Complete brake failure while pulling a travel trailer on I-95 in virginia. The low brake fluid light came on, immediately followed by the brake failure light coming on. Fortunately, I was able to coast to almost a stop at an uphill exit ramp and then apply the emergency brake. The truck and travel trailer had to be towed to the nearest Ford dealership. The service manager told me that the master cylinder had failed and the brake fluid was pumped into the brake booster and contaminated the whole braking system. All parts needed to ne replaced.
While driving on a county highway, pressed the brake peddle to slow for a bad section of road and brake peddle was stiff and would not depress. No brakes. Brake light and errors showed on console. No prior indication there were problems with the brakes. Used the emergency to safely brake the car to call for roadside assistance. Car was towed to the dealer. Dealer indicated that a vacuum line had fallen off and caused the no brake condition. I would have thought there would be a redundant system to allow the brakes to operate.
