We own a Ford F-150 3. 5 l ecoboost v-6 king ranch pickup truck. Truck was purchased in 2014 new. Have serious concerns as the vehicle has so many current issues. From day one of purchase and while still in the dealership parking lot, upon start up there was a very loud clattering sound. Sales rep said it was because it was cold and it had been sitting. Purchased vehicle, had problems immediately with dangerous lag in acceleration (which we still do), an average of 12 mpg if we were lucky and very serious engine misfires with major decrease in power accompanied by sputtering whole vehicle shuddering while trying to merge on the highway or with hard acceleration. Very dangerous, especially if in the fast lane, which we were. We started to limp over several lanes of traffic to the shoulder and the truck regained power. Many misfires like this, all explained to the Ford service tech and verified on the trucks computer. So many in fact it was necessary to replace all spark plugs at less than 57k miles. We just picked our truck up today, Feb 18th, 2020, after it was in the shop again, this time for 12 days, to fix this misfire problem again and numerous other issues with the front hubs staying locked in 4 wd while in 2 wheel drive and switching in and out, timing chain replaced, and the ecoboost turbo tubes replaced as they were cracked, iwe replaced, and left front actuator. Also about 3 weeks ago it had transfer case motor replaced as well as numerous switches, all which did not correct the problems. My husband and I decided to take it on the highway to see if the lag misfire problem was fixed. When he hit the gas there was a screechy sound from the top of the engine, power seriously decreased once again on the highway and the check engine light was back on. I sent an email to Ford and auffenberg Ford in ref to these continuing problems.
Vehicle has loud ticking noise when cold started, seemed to be coming from passenger side catalytic converter. Took vehicle to dealer for warranty emission repair, dealer stated turbo had gone bad and wiped out turbo. Vehicle has 63,000 miles just outside of the power train warranty, dealer declined assistance and wanted $2500 to repair turbo and would then replace the catalytic converter. Vehicle is very well maintained have all records, if turbo were to fail while driving it could have possibly destroyed the engine stated the dealer. Why is an essential part of the engine failing at such low mileage? vehicle also has intermittent shifting problem around 40-45mph seems to shift erratically, dealer says transmission lead frame could be issue or ecm/pcm programming, they have not done any of those repairs yet.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempted to start the vehicle, the key was placed in the ignition. However, the vehicle failed to start. The contact also stated that he heard a clicking sound in the engine. No warning lights illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000. Lt.
3. 5 l ecobost losses power while driving on highway and poor acceleration from stop light or when accelerator pedal is depressed when passing. Several close calls from vehicles going faster approaching from rear at stop lights and while passing. Had close encounter with two tractor trailers on hwy while traveling at 60-65mph going up a hill. Went to pass the trailer truck that was slowing down. After entering the passing lane and pressing the acceleration pedal the truck had a quick shake then with the acceleration pedal pressed to the floor the truck slowed to 45 mph and would not accelerate. I was almost rear ended buy another large truck attempting to pass the slower one. Sometimes has ticking noise at start up that seems to go away after running for 5-30seconds. Has p0016 code and p0299 codes.
Pickup has a ticking noise coming from engine compartment after engine reaches operating temp. Notified Ford about issue and was advised to take to dealership. Took to dealership as advised dealership stated this was normal for a 5. 0 liter engine. Notified Ford after taking to dealership they have not responded back.
The engine runs very rough at idle and other times during operation, its losing coolant level and shows a milky white residue in the oil fill cap. Dealer says the milkshake stuff is normal, not!!! dealer says loss of coolant level is normal from atmospheric conditions. Dealer says that these 3. 5l v6's just normally run rough. Transmission hesitates and pulses when pulling a load. Recently I get a load snap/click sound at the heater control. This truck is brand new and feels like an old beat up truck. Ford got rid of the 3. 5l v6 and replaced it with a new revamped 3. 7l v6. They couldn't fix the problems with the 3. 5l v6 but won't fix those issues with mine and others who are stuck with a problematic engine. There should be a national recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
