1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

While driving from ohio back to north carolina, my wife and I were travelling at 75 mph when suddenly and without warning my truck abruptly stalled to 5 mph with no power from the accelerator. I managed to get the truck out of the high speed lane on a two lane highway and on to the side of the road. I turned the truck off. A few minutes later, I turned the truck back on and all function resumed. This has happened in the past, but when I took it in for work there was no issue reported or read and the error could not be replicated. The truck was towed to a Ford dealership. Service informed me I had a bad throttle body. This truck was part of a "customer satisfaction program" run in 2013 for a bad throttle body and total loss of acceleration. My truck received the repair in 2014 voiding the throttle body 10 year or 150,000 mile warranty. The safety concern remains and is endangering my life, my wife, and our future child. The part might be replaced without fixing the problem. An electrical issue may keep this vehicle having reoccurrences. This has me very concerned about a service that does not increase vehicle safety. And because of that concern I began to inquire if anyone else has had this issue. It turns out that in 2015 a class action suit was filed against Ford and settled on individual basises (janis benkle et al v Ford motor company). Currently, there are no programs to assist owners like myself in this situation. The original program is no longer valid and the repair performed was only good for one time (that repair apparently would not solve the safety concern as others have stated that the problem persisted after a new throttle body was put in). I have sought out an audience with the "zone manager". However, I have been informed that is impossible as customer care will not give that information and neither will the dealership.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2019

1. Engine doesn't run smooth at highway speed. . 2. Powertrain, transmission - received a recall 19v-075 for software update notice 6/25/2019. Took the f150 to gateway Ford dealership for the update. The next time tried to accelerate (8/16/19) the transmission shifter irradicably the dash icons flashed and the pickup stalled as to be in low gear, I shut off the ignition after pulling to the side of the road, restarted it after a bit and continued on my way. This has happened again, not sure of dates. As I was traveling out of south dakota I contacted gateway, they said to take the pickup to another Ford dealership and they would fix it. Took it to auto nation Ford in corpus christi, TX. They wouldn't fix it . They said the update wad already done. The pickup drove and worked good prior to the recall update and now it will shift radically and dash icon flashing when accelerating rapidly. In addition the drivers seat is wearing out. It should rear better than that. The pickup only has 90,178 miles on it and should last me longer than that. One more issue. The positive battery post continually corrodes. I've cleaned it many times and still corrodes. Please have someone address these issues on my f150. I think there should be no cost to me per your advertising on tv. Thank you gary hartman ghart41@hotmail. Com 605-222-7560.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2019

Approximately two months ago I purchased a used 2013 Ford F-150 from a local dealership in warren, michigan. Recently I received a notice in the mail detailing a recall regarding vehicles equipped with a 6r80 transmission sudden downshift (safety recall 19s07). After receiving my powertrain control module software update approximately two weeks ago from szott Ford in holly, michigan, I expected my transmission to run smoothly. Six days ago, while pulling through a busy intersection, my vehicle would not leave first gear. Somehow, I avoided being hit from crossing traffic. Shortly after avoiding an accident, the vehicle then switched abruptly from first gear to fifth gear (going around 10 mph). After pulling into a parking lot I turned the car off. When I restarted the car, it started in fifth gear. The car would not go into manual and would not leave fifth gear. At no point during this time did an engine light come on. After switching the car into four-wheel drive everything seemed to be working smoothly again. I immediately took my car into the dealership once again. The dealership has informed me that everything is working properly and since no engine light came on there are no problems to diagnose or fix. Safety recall 19s07 did not fix this vehicles issues. Last night the same thing happened again. It would not leave 1st gear. I put the car in park and the car would sit in second gear then jump to 5th gear. Very dangerous pulling out in front of anything because the car basically stalls in oncoming traffic. Safety recall 19s07 did not work.

7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2019

Widely reported- please read carefully! very similar to existing recall*, but not the same. Potentially deadly. Current recall does not address the sudden up-shifts mentioned here. 2013 Ford F-150 mfg defect: molded leadframe assy in 6r80 transmission symptoms: intermittent loss of speed signal causes sudden/unexpected slamming upshift from 1st gear to 5th when accelerating from a stop, causing a complete and unexpected loss of all acceleration. Indications: 5th gear suddenly indicated on display, dashes replace numbers on speed/mileage related displays (mpg, odometer). Speedometer may read 0, airbag symbol pops on, large orange wrench symbol may briefly appear. Pressing on accelerator does not cause downshift. Motor may stall. Remains in 5th gear without some other corrective action. Turning engine off and back on will reset the computer, and vehicle operates normally until next occurrence. Dangers: this could be fatal when pulling out into oncoming traffic, both from the side (pulling out in front of oncoming traffic from side street) or from rear (sudden, unexpected loss of speed/ no brake lights). Ford cannot fix this by re-programming the vehicle to ignore the faulty sensor any more than you can ignore an oncoming cement truck or train. Repair is approximately $800. If not recalled, owners may try to live with the risks or trade to an unknowing person, endangering lives of others. *this defective part is also the root cause of Ford recall #19s07, involving sudden violent down-shifts (not upshifts). Ford is avoiding the problem by re-programming the ecu to ignore the intermittent speed signals, allowing the transmission to fail more gracefully, defects to be repaired at owner's expense. This approach will not work for the up-shift problem. The defective part should be immediately replaced at Ford's expense to correct both problems.

8 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

Tl the contact owned a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving between 30-60 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a new output speed module needed to be installed. The vehicle was also taken to jenkintown Ford (1650 the fairway, jenkintown, PA 19046, (888) 503-1980), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 69,100.

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

Vehicle stalls while driving and won't restart for hours. This has happened 3 times since may and twice since September 2018. Each time it has been taken to a Ford dealership and the Ford dealer says that they can find nothing wrong that can be recreated. I have stalled out on an 8 lane highway. This was an extremely dangerous occurrence. I recently had the entire truck serviced, from oil change to throttle body cleaning to spark plugs to transmission cleaned, axles cleaned. All of this was done mid August 2018 and still has not fixed the issue. I have 102,367 miles on my vehicle. When I looked to see if there were others with this issue, I found that there were many and that Ford is refusing to issue a recall to repair this extremely dangerous and hazardous malfunction. I am sitting on the roadway right at the moment, waiting for aaa to tow my truck to the dealership.

10 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

Transmission - molded leadframe malfunction on 5. 0 motor. The 2011-2012 recall for the molded leadframe malfunction also affects 2013 vehicles such as ours leading to the truck loosing power, stalling out, shifting on it's own from 5th to 1st and the other way leaving the truck a wreck waiting to happen at any time during driving. This risks the lives of the driver, passengers and everyone else on the road. When this happens you must bring the vehicle to a complete stop, shut it off, wait for computer to cycle, then restart. Ford should be expanding the recall to replace this deadly malfunctioning part at their cost. This has happened at least 10 times within 30 days of owning the vehicle which was bought from maxwell Ford in austin texas. The last time this happened it was in a parking lot after just starting the truck and backing out of a stall.

11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

My 2013 Ford f150 is stalling at at any speed, and the wrench icon appears on the dashboard. Sometimes the engine icon also appears when this happens. It's off and on. The engine light does not stay on. I took it in for a checkup, and they said fuel system needs cleaning. Also, my transmission has started jumping at low speeds, and reduces the vehicle to and absolute crawl. . . . Less than 5mph. It's not a high speed problem. . . Just at lights ,complete stops and stop and go driving/traffic.

12 Car Stall problem

Reported this problem before and now it getting worse it was just the transimission shifting from high gear 6 at 70 mpg in cruise and when I tap the breake peddle to disengage the cruise it dowm shifted to low 1 and the rpm went from 2500 to 6500 and stay in low until I came to a stop then everything went back to normal it now also blown transimission lines and when I take off from a side street of stop light it will take off ok then about the time I reach the center of the street it will sfift into nuteral I can step or pump the gas peddle but nothing happens it just goes into a slow role after 3 to 5 sec it then jumps into gear and takes off normal again also at slow speeds you can hear and feel it clunking into and out of gear and with a metallic sound some times once in the snow had it in 4x4 at parked it and turned it off the next day I back it out of the drive then shifted it into drive then the transfer case shifted it out of 4x4 and it sounded like 2- 8 lbs sledge hammers smashing together and jarring the hole truck this in the beginning has only happen a few times but I was on the freeways at hi speeds I dont drive it on the freeways now and because the dealer ships want a $100 each time I take it in for the same problem and they dont do anything and plus I paid eatra for the platinum warrenty so if I have to leave it I get a loner and I have even been able to get a loner even when it took them over a week to install the transmission lines after they blow out from stop and going in on residential streets also when the trucks shift from high to low you can hear the solenoids shifting all overe under the dash floor infront of the seat along with the dash light flashing even one with a eng with a trans attached.

17 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2017

Two days in a row my vehicle stalled after violently shaking the steering wheel, I had a complete power loss. I coasted to the side of the road and waited to restart the engine. After about 5 minutes I was able to restart my vehicle. The second time it happened I was one the way to the dealership. The dealership called me back to inform me that my vehicle was driven for 26 miles and could not duplicate. I have been researching online to see if there have been any issues. Back in 2013 an investigation was started for this issue. I spoke with the dealership and the service department told me they could not do anything because the cars computers did not throw a code. Not only did nothing happen Ford did not mention any TSB that would help or fix this issue, after I asked about any TSB that would help or fix. Still I got nothing from the dealership.

18 Car Stall problem

24 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

My 2013 f150 ecoboost has approximately 65k miles on it and has recently begun stalling while in operation - always moving. When this occurs, an orange crescent wrench appears on the information center, the rpm's begin to fluctuate, the truck loses all acceleration power, the truck begins to shutter, and I am forced to immediately stop and restart the vehicle. There is no specific time when this happens as opposed to not, and it is very dangerous as the traffic around me has no way to anticipate the issue either. The shop I took the vehicle to stated they "think" it is the throttle body, but are not positive. This is my first Ford in several years/cars and though originally pleased with the truck, I am quickly becoming frustrated.

25 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2016

While driving my 2013 Ford f150 with ecoboost, the engine cuts out and I lose power. The wrench symbol comes on. The truck stays running but you can't accelerate. The truck starts to vibrate. It's extremely dangerous because there's no warning and no pattern as to when it happens. It happens at both slow and fast speeds. You have to pull over and turn off the engine. Then when you restart it, it works again. There's no pattern as to how long it will work. Sometimes it cuts out immediately and sometimes weeks later. I've taken it to the closest Ford dealer twice. Once they replaced the throttle body. That proved to be a temporary fix because it did it again a few months later. The next time they reset the pcm. That only worked for a few weeks. I have a third appointment coming up. But I have no confidence they have any idea what the problem is or how to fix it. They will just keep trying different things until they find the issue. It's obviously an engine manufacturer issue and a recall should be issued immediately. This truck is extremely unsafe to drive. I am a stay at home dad and I transport my kids in this truck. We were on the highway in traffic when it stalled 6 times. Three of those 6 times we were almost hit. I believe Ford will take no responsibility for this mess until someone actually dies in an accident.

26 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2015

2013 Ford F-150 with the 5. 0 v8 engine that has 51,000 miles. On numerous occasions the truck will crank as normal but will not start, as well as lose power while driving. Ford road side had the truck towed to summerville Ford. Ford service department advised that a fuse form the factory was too small and was overheating causing the truck not to start. The service department told me this is a known/common issue, and the fix was for them to install a fuse relocation kit by splicing into the wiring in the fuse box as well as install a larger fuse. Of course this seems like an engineering/fuse location issue and not a worn out part issue.

27 Car Stall problem

I was able to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and it restarted. I was the only person in the truck. June 30, 2015 5:45pm f150 shuddered and then stalled out while in running traffic. Wrench insignia appeared on dashboard screen. I was able to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and it restarted. There were 4 people in the truck. Truck not used from June 30 to July 4th. July 4th, 2015 6:30pm f150 shuddered and stalled and went in to some type of barely running mode. The wrench insignia again appeared on the dashboard screen. I coasted to the side of the road. Truck struggled to start but eventually did so and I took it home and parked it as it was becoming dangerous to be on the road with it. July 1, 2015 called and made an appointment at wayne county Ford service dep't in honesdale PA. They gave me an appointment date of July 6 at 9:30am. They could not diagnose the problem and the truck is still sitting there as of July 7th.

30 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

I was driving to pick my son up from school going about 25 mph I turned right accelerated and the truck completely lost powered it did not stall just lost all power and the gas pedal had no response I was able to idle to my son's school. Thank goodness no one was on the road behind me because when I lost power the truck just stop abruptly in the middle of the road. Can't imagine how that would have played out if I had been going 70 down the highway. Ford is saying it's the throttle body I don't think that's correct :(.

31 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

Yesterday, my truck started fine with no issues, all systems were fine. This morning, 12/13/14, I went to start my truck and my battery was completely dead. I left nothing on and nothing plugged in. I purchased a new battery and it started fine although the remote start (factory installed) no longer works when pressed, the horn blows once and the lights flash twice. I looked out of my window a few minutes ago and noticed that the white instrument cluster lights are on. I went out to make sure my truck was locked, got in, started the engine and shut everything off again but the instrument cluster lights won't go out.

32 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

Regular morning, right as I was driving out of the parking lot, two alarms went off: "power train" and "service engine soon". At first I thought it was an error so I continued to drive out of the parking lot. Not even 10 yards out, my truck began to jerk forward so I put on park and shut the engine off. I started again, attempted to drive back to my parking stall, and same thing happened. I bought this truck about 10 months ago and it only got 7800 miles on it. I haven't put any strenuous work load on this truck, mainly used for commuting so far.

34 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2014

I was at a complete stop on a main street making a left turn. Traffic was coming in the opposite direction and I was waiting for clearing within the traffic in order to make my left turn. There was an opening in traffic and I stepped on the gas to accelerate across the lane. As I stepped on the gas a message on my dashboard came on stating "low oil pressure" and the vehicle completed stalled. I completely lost all power on the engine and also the steering wheel. The vehicle drifted across the busy lane and barely made it across the lane as traffic was coming directly towards me. Multiple vehicles were coming in my direction and some honked there car horn to get out of the way. This was extremely frightening as I had my baby with me in the back seat. The cars would have clearly hit my vehicle if I had not drifted across that lane. The truck is practically new as it barely has 6724 miles.

35 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

2013 Ford F-150 3. 5 ecoboost on multiple occasions has loss of power on take-off when making left hand turns. This loss of power seems more like a long delay in poer application to the wheels, long enough that when making left hand turns in traffic becomes dangerous and I have been in two near misses in these stall situations. The vehicle comes to life suddenly with a boost of full power literally scaring you when it finally does decide to go after a 1-3 second delay, and oftentimes even after letting off of the accelerator you still get the power surge and have to mash the brakes. I have learned to keep a foot on the brake and mange the delay, just hope I don't get in a tight spot where I need to have sudden power from a stop.
