2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/06/2017

When vehicle is in motion and the passenger seat is occupied with an adult passenger who is seated properly and wearing seatbelt the passenger airbag off light occasionally comes on and will stay on for different time frames sometimes minutes or an entire trip before turning itself back on. We have brought the issue to the attention of the dealership on two separate occasions and on both occasions we were told that they tested the system and that it is functioning properly. We have also had a recurring problem with the front driver side tire pressure sensor where the tire was visibly low, and when checked was over 15 lbs low sometimes 20 lbs but the low tire pressure warning never came on. This has happened on several different occasions with the same tire sensor and each time was brought to the attention of the dealership it was purchased through and each time we have been assured that the sensors are working properly. Yet I have had the rear tire on the passenger side be low 5 lbs and the tire pressure sensor informed me that it was low. The tire states 44lbs as the recommendation for maximum inflation, they are the proper tires for the vehicle, and 25 percent would be at least 11 lbs low is my understanding. Yet when I asked if there is a certain loss of pressure that we should be informed by we were told no that some tires might just sense it sooner than other but that they were all working properly. We just wanted to express our concerns as we hope that these systems will function properly if they are needed in an emergency situation.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

Vehicle would stall at random while driving. Mechanics at Ford advised that it was relay wire or harness wires for the airbag sensors that ran through the fuel tank were corroded or shorted out. They reported that the engineers at Ford made a bad call when they decided to run the wires through the fuel tank, which in turn resulted in me having to dish out 1500 bucks for the repair. This issue occurred multiple times prior to the repair on a truck with less than 53000 miles at the time, between during March or April of 2014 when I first purchased the used truck. Lost all power at various speeds and on several road types including highway, highway service road, residential street and farm to market road, while going strait and during turns, after multiple events and having put less than 1000 miles on it, I took it up to Ford. Grateful that no accidents occured during the episodes I experienced. I was able to cometo a stop, place the truck in park and restart it. Ttince the repair no issues. Love the f series pick ups and have owned several over a span of 18 years and its all my dads company uses. I know its been almost 4 years since having the issue but felt like I needed to say something to at least give others a head up or warning. Never set well with me. I still have the repair paperwork if needed.

6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/17/2011

Sept 17th 2011. Sat. Night about 10:00pm I was driving my 2003 Ford F-150 truck east. I was going about 45-50mph on a straight country road when a loud sound went off and the airbags deployed and the truck came to a screeching stop. I was able to keep the truck on the road as it came to a complete stop. I and a passenger were wearing seatbelts and were able to get out of the truck. It was full of smoke and the horn was blaring , we opened the hood and disabled the horn put on the emergency flashers. The truck would not move. Couldn't get it in or out of gear, its a standard. I called my insurance CO. And we had my truck towed from there to a friends house. Both of us were pretty shakened and had hurt necks and backs and I hurt my hand. My friend got hurt the worst and is still seeing doctors for his neck injuries. I am okay but sore and haven't gone to the doctors. My insurance won't cover the damage it caused inside the cab or have airbags re-installed. I have full coverage! the air bags just deployed on their own. Out of the blue. Gives me a whole new perspective about air bags, they may save your live or take your life! they are scary, smell bad, ruin your car and have to be replaced along with a brain before the truck will run. The truck is still disabled today. I feel it was a defect in the airbag sensors or the airbags themselves! and it should be covered by either my insurance or the Ford motor company. It's a safety feature and should be covered by one of the two! I had the truck for 4 years and nothing had ever happened like that before. Its never been hit in the front and I was just driving along. On a straight road and boom. The airbags deployed and the truck came to a sudden stop. It was traumatizing to say the least!.

7 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/24/2010

The passenger airbag disabled light turns on and off when a 108 pound person is sitting correctly in the front passenger seat. We recently took the vehicle into tuttle click Ford in irvine for inspection. They said that there where no error codes so they are unable to determine the problem and are not attempting to replace any sensors because Ford motor company will only reimburse them if a problem is diagnosed. The service advisor claims this can happen when going over bumps which is obviously nonsense. The vehicle was returned to us without being fixed. This is a 10 month old vehicle with 3550 miles.

Failure Date: 03/21/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The contact noticed that the air bag warning light remained illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact is a professional technician and he inspected his vehicle and discovered that the cause of the failure was a defective air bag sensor module. The sensor module is located in a way that allows water to enter and, over a period of time, becomes frozen, which permanently breaks the sensor. He ordered the part from the dealer and replaced the air bag sensor as a temporary remedy. The failure and current mileages were 25,000. Updated 04/29/08.

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

Passenger seat air bag turns off. Occasional problem, has become constant problem. Wife weighs 100 lb+. Never had this problem with any other car,do not have the problem with our 09, Smart car. One dealer said she doesn't weigh enough, another said, bag will still deploy but not as hard. Think it is a sensor in the seat ,when the light says bag off, means no protection, and it will not deploy. Happens intermittently, some times re connecting the seat belt corrects it but only for a while. Just completed 3,000 mile trip across country, bag off light was on most of the time. Didn't seem to matter how the wife positioned her self, this is not a weight/size issue, but a failure of a safety device. Is it an '07' issue?.

Failure Date: 03/14/2007

I first noticed that my air bag dash light began blinking. I decided that it should be repaired in that I do travel quite a bit for work on heavily traveled highways here in indiana. I took the vehicle to butler Ford here close to my residence and ask that the warning light on be repaired along with a Ford recall #05s28 and a windshield wiper problem. When I returned for the vehicle the warning light was still blinking but the other two items had been taken care of. I was handed a bill for 126 dollars and the flashing light was not fixed. The repair bill stated "pass side air bag switch shorted. No further action was taken to repair the problem.

19 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/14/2004

While traveling in my f150 truck at 65 mph(cruise control set) I was totally blinded by the sun and rear ended a Ford focus. My wife and I were wearing our seatbelts. Neither airbag deployed which "would have reduced my wife's injuries" (her physician). The hood of my f150 was buckled leading me to believe that the sensor should have activated the airbag. How can we be certain, if the vehicle is repaired, that the airbags will deploy under similiar circumstances?.
