I was recently involved in an accident in my vehicle. It was a head on collision and my airbag did not fully deploy. Though I was travelling the speed limit, had I been on a freeway and going the legal speed limit I think I might have been seriously injured. The libable insurance company encouraged me to contact Ford to see it this has been an issue. There were not warning lights or any other symptoms prior to the accident.

I was driving and slid off the road at a corner, when I impacted a tree, the airbag didnt deploy, although the vehicle immediately called 911. Curerntly the vehicle is at a chevy dealer waiting for insurance to finalize paperwork for a total loss. It can be inspected if requested. I cannot find someone to look at the failure without cost to myself. I feel that the airbag should have deployed due to the fact that the bumper was shoved into the engine , and the front of the vehicle was destroyed on impact. The insurance looked at vehicle, and did not feel the airbag deployment was worthy of investigating. The police did not inspect anything. No warning lamps or service indicators were lit prior to impact. I contacted the manufacturer, and they stated id have to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic. The insurance refused to send the vehicle to Ford. I have neck strain and pain after the accident, and feel that had it deployed, I would be in much better shape. If the airbag deployment is set too high for impacts, then they are useless to prevent injury.

On Wednesday September 30, 2020, my 2012 Ford F-150 was involved in a 35mph front end collision. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. The driver side airbag did not deploy. I am concerned why airbag did not deploy. After accident, there was an amber "airbag malfunction" warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. In 2012, there was a Ford F-150 recall # 12v198000 for passenger airbag control sensor module (ocsm). This VIN # was not included in recall. This vehicle may have a faulty ocsm that was not included in the recall. I am going to ask the repair shop to save this vehicles "black box" and ocsm in case there is need for further investigation of these parts.

Airbag did not fully deploy in frontal collision driving highway speed of 65mph and upon striking a tree after losing control over tire issue. I remember airbag opened like a balloon and then deflating as soon as it opened up and it seemed like it was rolled. I remember waking up to find myself being life flighted to hospital. I sustained several injuries which I'm blessed to be alive. I suffered head injury which needed staples and stitches, broken ribs and sternum, hip dislocation and surgery for acetabular fractures or I would not be able to walk again, knee injury from dashboard, broken left ulna on left arm and ulnar styloid on right wrist. All due to airbag not fully deploying like any owner of a vehicle expects in a serious accident.
