1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

The contact owns a 1999 Ford f 250. While driving approximately 5 mph and making a left turn, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to decelerate without warning. The contact observed that there was fuel leaking from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line was severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

While backing out of my driveway, the brake pedal slowly sank to the floor. I put the truck in park and got out of the vehicle. I noticed an expanding pool of hydraulic fluid forming underneath the truck, just forward of the rear, driver's side tire. Upon investigation, the right rear brake line had chaffed a hole on the frame rail resulting in a loss of brakes. Had this brake line failed at any other time, rather just backing out of my driveway, it could have resulted in dire consequences.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2008

Approaching intersection applied brakes and brake pressure failed. Rear impacted another vehicle and pushed them into another vehicle. Upon inspection after accident passenger side brake line was hanging and leaking fluid. Had truck towed back to my shop and removed all 3 lines to have replaced with stainless braided lines. Upon intersection of the driver and passenger side brake lines the crimp clamps located under the rubber covering on rubber line before it turns into steel and goes into caliper. Spoke with brake line builder and states that it is an everyday occurrence. Replace front and rear lines on vehicle. The rubber stores all the moisture, salt, sand and other elements. I was ticketed with careless driving from rear ending the truck in front of me. I have pictures of the line for visual inspection.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2007

Drove truck with no noticeable problem, when arriving home parked in driveway. Later went to move truck and observed puddle of fluid in driveway where truck was parked. Crawled under truck before moving it and discovered brake fluid dripping from line that runs from front of truck to rear. Brake line had severe evidence of rust. Replaced steel brake line that ran from junction at front to junction at rear axle. Old line that was removed is available.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2007

The main fore-aft brake line rusted through where it follows the frame rails on my 1999 Ford superduty pickup. As a result, the line failed, and I lost all braking capabilities. Luckily, this happened at home, and no injury or crash occured.

6 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2006

: the contact stated while approaching a red light at 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle did not stop. After depressing and pumping the brake pedal several times, the vehicle did not slow down and ran the red light incident free. The vehicle was towed to a local independent repair shop for inspection. The mechanic determined the right rear brake line corroded and rusted completely through in pinhole size spots. The mechanic replaced the brake line and the vehicle operated normally. Updated 5/10/2006 - the consumer still has the corroded line in his possession.

7 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2005

Contact stated while driving pressed on the brake pedal and there were no brakes. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home where he checked the vehicle and found the brake lines rubbed together, causing a hole to rub through the metal brake lines. This resulted in loss of brakes.

8 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2005

Applied brake pedal, went to floor, no brakes. The brake line ruptured. I investigated to see where the leak was, the entire line from the undercarriage back is badly corroded, all the way up to where it connects to the line coming from the master cylinder (enen the coupling is corroded). There is obviously a chemical reaction occurring between metals. I had this happen in my driveway with no speed, used my emergency brake to stop truck, if this had been a normal stop (e. G. , a stop in traffic, it most likely would have resulted in serious injury or death. There was no warning of this pending failure.

9 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2005

1999 Ford sd f250 crew cab long bed - diesel 6 spd manual: front left break line cut by engine plastic splash shield. Vehicle has 158k miles no rust on break line but you can tell that the splash shield has been rubbing against the metal line. There is obviously not enough clearance created in the splash shield design. I am not sure if this applies only to diesel applications due to the hydraulic power assist …. This almost created serious accident when the line ruptured; we were pulling a 26 ft trailer which had electric breaks that help stop the vehicle before we reached a major intersection. The truck had just been in for service at the Ford dealership two days before for various services. There was no warnings the breaks were firm and the they went withg one step of last step on the break. Break line will need to be replaced, modified to miss splash sheild or splash sheild will need to be modified to assure clrearance to break line.

10 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2005

Fail to brake, found hole in brake line to rear axle due to corrosion . I will replace line ASAP.

11 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2005

Vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. Dealership was informed of the rusted brake line, but did not resolve the problem.

12 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2003

The vehicles brake line failed while driving . The dealer stated that the brakes were rubbing against the master cylinder.

13 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/15/1999

Catastrophic brake failure when metal brake line broke completely. No warning. Brake was fine then next depression of pedal, pedal went to floor with no braking. No traffic on straight road allowed me to stop ok. Otherwise this could very well have been a fatal accident. More details if you are interested.

14 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1999

Due defective brake lines, which dealer replaced twice, steering wheel shakes vigorously. This may cause driver to lose control and could result in a crash. Also problems with the transmission and engine. Please provide further information.

15 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 10/01/1998

Reference voq #854737 where my supplied information was incorrectly recorded. While driving and when braking, the vehicle pulls left (into oncoming traffic) the severity of the pull to the left is directly related to the measure of the braking and vehicle speed (e. G. Low speed with light braking = moderate pull to the left and higher speeds with firm braking = extreme pull to the left). The Ford dealer has turned all the rotors, replaced a brake line, replaced the pads, realigned the vehicle at least three times, replaced the camber bushings twice, once with Ford factory parts and the last time with after market parts (non-Ford adjustable camber bushings). Reference electronic dealer service report, edsr#17584 generated 05/11/99 by the master technician at joe cooper Ford.

16 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

While traveling at highway speed left front tire tread came completely off. As a result the brake line broke.

17 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Hydraulic brake line was not secure to frame, causing it to rupture, resulting in loss of brakes.
