One problem related to power assist brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings has been reported for the 2001 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Upon routine inspection I noticed that a line was wearing through due to rubbing on the shock tower inside the front driver side wheel well, and was actually wore past the nylon strength cords. Upon closer inspection this was found to be the power steering line which is used for the hydraboost system, which uses power steering fluid to boost the brakes. Had this line continued to wear until leakage or rupture I would have likely lost both ability to brake and steer the vehicle. Unfortunately due to the type of connections used on this line, the new lins contacts the exact same area and will likely begin to wear through again.
