general problems of the 2010 Ford F-250

Four problems related to engine and engine cooling have been reported for the 2010 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2021

Ford F-250 super duty king ranch (2010) with a 6. 4 powerstroke engine. The 3rd cylinder blew up and the piston came apart and scarred the cylinder wall up. This is supposedly a known issue with the new emissions equipment that was added to the vehicle to force diesels to have to pass smog. This issue should have been addressed by Ford when it started happening to avoid people having to replace their engines at a cost of $20k.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2019

Traveling on I-15 freeway in southern California, going 70 mph on cruise. Head a loud "bang", pulled over and saw damage to underside of vehicle and fluids leaking. Transfer case appeared to be split open. Towed to mojave Ford dealership in barstow California, where repairs were made. Description of findings is attached below. Problem seems to have originated in the 4wd system. Truck was in 2wd in the cab, however vacuum hubs were in 4wd. Mechanic stated that this is a problem with Ford trucks. No recall on file. Post repair, the truck still stays in 4wd when reverting to 2wd from the cab. Operator is required to manually put hubs into 2wd.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford F-250. While slowing down at a stop light, the vehicle accelerated. The contact depressed the brake pedal harshly and the engine revved. The contact turned off the engine and had to restart the vehicle a few extra times in order to drive home safely. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,800.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2011

Driving down the highway and the truck picked up speed by itself until it reached 95 mph then the engine bogged down repeatly,then I shut the engine down and restarted it and it worked ok until evening then the truck failed to start and the starter kept turning without me touching the key.
