Ford F-250 owners have reported 9 problems related to driveshaft (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford F-250 based on all problems reported for the F-250.
The truck has the death wobble. I had dealer balance driveshaft 2x, as well as, the dealer adjusted the alignment again. . . The truck is still experiencing sustained steering wheel oscillation and I am again experiencing the death wobble, less than 1,000 miles after the most recent repair. It is very unfortunate that consumers purchase 50k+ dollar trucks and so many people are nervous driving them down the road. Ford keeps the montra up of such as the following: continuous improvement. Review the data, the data will tell the story. Change points. Root cause and permanent countermeasures. I have reviewed the historical f250 crew cab 4x4 complaint data on this site (NHTSA) and the data does tell a story. That story is very clear that Ford is not continuously improving the death wobble issue on the super duty, instead it has gotten worse. There has been a change point with this fourth generation f250. (2017,2018,2019) as of 11/21/19 the fourth generation f250 super duty has had more NHTSA suspension and steering complaints for the death wobble than the previous two generations combined. (9 years. Second generation 2008-2010 and third generation 2011-2016) the current repairs (countermeasures) are not effective and are not permanent. This can clearly be seen in the descriptions of the complaints on NHTSA. The repairs either do not fix the problem at all or are only a temporarily band aid for the issue. This is truly a safety concern and to date nothing has been implemented to correct the issue. Please, open an investigation and force Ford to permanently address the issue.

I had replaced drive shaft twice and universals twice. Every couple of months the front end starts to shake and these parts have to be replaced.

Front hubs on 4wd Ford F-250 pickup were stuck in locked, even though set to automatic. Caused failure of cv joint on front drive shaft, which resulted in crack case and transmission exploding (literally, as in parts flying all over I-80). Transmission shop owner (action transmission, rock springs, wy) indicated he's seen same occur before. One part dented support on pontoon boat being towed -- if not there, could have gone through someone's windshield. A very dangerous failure, in my opinion. I have kept and photographed the parts replaced by shop (except what was left of the transmission, which was required to avoid core charge) as well as several pieces I picked up off hightway. The hubs had problems in the past and were replaced less than 11,000 miles before incident, yet were outside Fords 12-month "warranty" period. They have refused to provide any financial assistance with repairs. Ford dealer in rock springs had several week backlog on transmission work so I had it repaired elsewhere ($5,818).

The contact stated there was severe vibration when using the cruise control. He took the vehicle to the dealer, they reprogrammed a chip, and put three shims in driveshaft. Also, there was severe vibration in the acceleration of the vehicle. There has been vibration with the vehicle since purchasing it. The vehicle has been to the dealer many times, but they stated it was normal. The vehicle vibration is more severe in lower gears than at higher gears. The vehicle did this from the point of acceleration, there was no for warning.

While accelerating and stopping there is a clunk and you can feel it under the truck. The dealer suggested it was the brakes. I had the brakes changed and the rotors and drums checked but it is still having the problem. I recently visited the Ford -trucks. Com site to find several cases of this and it apparently is due to an improperly greased drive shaft at the rear bearing. This is a problem that Ford should correct due to their negligence in improperly greasing the joint.
Vehicle vibrated uncontrollably at various speeds. Dealer has replaced driveshaft and tires, but vehicle continued to vibrate. Manufacturer has been notified.
Extreme vibration in rear driveshaft when towing in low gear. Vibration is daily.
Truck has been to dealer several times for vibration in drive train. They haent been able to remedy this problem at all. Also the coil on the #4 cylinder has gone out twice . The vibrations have us worried about the safety of this vehicle.
