36 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/20/2025

High pressure fuel pump failure: on [xxx] while driving on the highway our 2020 f250 super duty VIN # [xxx] experienced a complete and sudden loss of power in the fast lane, creating an extremely dangerous situation. Our safety and the safety of others were at risk due to us merging across 4 lanes in heavy traffic with no power steering and no motor function, parking in a very narrow shoulder area and requiring a tow from the highway. After towing and a diagnostic evaluation, it was determined that the high-pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed, a known safety concern with a recall issued our truck being built in kentucky on August 2, 2020 the cost of repairs are around $15,000. This vehicle is housed at a local diesel mechanic, and is available for inspection upon request, and has not been inspected by anyone currently. 38 Equipment problem of the 2024 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/06/2025

I purchased my new 2024 Ford f250 on [xxx] with less than 30 miles on the odometer. It includes a 10-speed automatic transmission. I have noticed erratic up shifting and down shifting of the transmission. The problem started at approximately 700 miles on the vehicle. Additionally I have noticed that after initial starting the vehicle, when placed into drive or reverse, the transmission appears to slam into gear as noticed by a large jerk and loud sound. The vehicle continues to sound like there is a mismatch between the engine revving up and transmission lagging behind for some time, or as if the transmission is slipping gears. The new vehicle was taken into the dealership on 6/9/2025 at 7:00am and work was reportedly completed and vehicle ready for pickup on [xxx]. I was informed that the service technician performed a break-in procedure and that everything was okay. Within 30 minutes of picking up the vehicle the same problem started reoccurring. I called my service advisor (michael garcia) the follow day, [xxx] to report the same issue. I spoke with the service agent and was not able to get a loaner vehicle until 6/28/2025. At this point the vehicle has less that 3,000 miles on it. I dropped off the vehicle at 7:00 am on the 24th for repair. Today is the 7th of July, 2025, and I am still waiting for the dealership to give me the status. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

44 Equipment problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/06/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder and turn off the vehicle, and the vehicle failed to restart. The contact performed a visual inspection of the engine compartment but had not found a failure. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the cam-driven high-pressure fuel pump (cp4), observing that metal shavings had been circulated throughout the fuel system and the engine, resulting in damages to the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA action number: pe24014 (fuel system, diesel, fuel system, other). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 175,000.

47 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/28/2025

Rec'd recall notice but with no available resolution offered to us. The letter says the risk is "a loss of motive power increase the risk of crash". We drive this truck on the regular. Also, we have a 2,000 mile trip planned with children in the truck. How do you expect us to drive this truck and take this planned trip when Ford's own words say we are at risk of a crash? will you put pressure on Ford to pay for us a rental vehicle until this is resolved?.

48 Equipment problem of the 2004 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/23/2025

The tie rod broke while the vehicle was in motion. This caused the vehicle to lose control and crash into another vehicle, causing damage to both vehicles. There was no warning and no sign of any issues. Vehicle has been very well maintained, in fact, it has been in the shop at least once per month for the past year due to a number of mechanical issues unrelated to the tie rod.

49 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/15/2025

The component of issue is the rear drivers side fox shock added by tuscany motor CO, majority owned by fox factory. This component collides with the rear brake fluid line causing excessive wear. Eventual failure of this line could potentially cause brake failure leading to a major road hazard. This component is available for inspection upon request. According to my local dealership, other shelby super bajas have the same design flaw with the shock absorber. This component/issue has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others besides my dealership. There were no warning lamps or other forms of warning besides visual excessive wear of the brake line.

52 Equipment problem of the 2016 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/24/2024

Ford has issued a number of recalls for issues on Ford f-super duty (f-250) with rearview cameras in their vehicles. I am also experiencing the same issues with my 2016 Ford f-super duty (f-250) rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image causing no visibility while backing up, increasing my risk of a crash. The issue, covington Ford inc. , service department located at 9101 dr martin luther king Ave, covington, GA 30014 (770-786-3432) explained to me is that it is caused by a loss of electrical conductivity due to fretting corrosion on the terminal header connector inside the camera and misalignment of the connectors. I am also experiencing a full black image on the sync screen when placed in reverse or when the 360-degree view is selected as well. Diagnostics were completed 5/21/2025 costing me $150. 00. Proof of diagnostics cost can be provided upon request. Covington Ford inc. Indicated I would need a new camera installed at a charge of $727. 24 + tax not including the cost of the diagnostics. Estimated total cost of repairs including diagnostic charge would be $877. 24 + tax. In addition to being a safety hazard, I use this vehicle to back up to and connect to trailers necessary for my income and need to have this repair completed.

53 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/20/2024

This vehicle is subject to two open safety recalls for which no repair remedy is currently available from the manufacturer: 1. Recall 24v957 (24s78) Dec 20, 2024 involves the high-pressure fuel pump and powertrain control system. The recall states the fuel pump may fail and cause extended cranking/no start or loss of motive power while driving. Loss of motive power while in traffic or while towing increases the risk of a crash. The manufacturer has stated that parts and/or software are not available to repair this defect. The vehicle is regularly used for towing a recreational trailer, which increases the safety risk if loss of power occurs during operation, especially at highway speeds or while merging. 2. Recall 25v686 (25sa8) oct 10, 2025 involves the 360-degree/rear-view camera system. The recall states that the rear camera image may become dark in certain reversing situations when front and side cameras are exposed to significantly more light than the rear camera. Reduced visibility while reversing increases crash risk, particularly when maneuvering a large pickup truck. The manufacturer has acknowledged both recalls but has not provided a repair remedy within a reasonable timeframe. The powertrain-related recall has remained unresolved for an extended period. The vehicle has not been repaired because the manufacturer states parts/software are unavailable. At this time, the defect conditions have not resulted in a confirmed failure event, but the vehicle continues to be operated with open safety recalls that cannot be remedied. The safety risk remains present due to lack of available repair. Due to the prolonged unavailability of a repair remedy for a recall involving potential loss of motive power, I am unable to safely use the vehicle for its intended purpose of towing, as doing so would increase the risk of a crash if the defect occurs.

Failure Date: 11/25/2024

In re repeat complaints, 22s09 NHTSA recall number22v087 stephanie at Ford recalls arranged for lenoir city Ford to do a quick inspection of the underbody insulation. We agreed no other work was to be done. L. C. Refused to inspect the underbody insulation in re this NHTSA recall. The service writer was caught lying to me 4 times, demanding they could not do the inspection without an appointment (Ford rep said she had arranged otherwise) then stated they had to inspect wiring (irrelevant) and driveshaft (irrelevant, no loose insulation so there cannot be driveshaft damage). I put a google review on line (k8byp) with all these details. This is the third Ford dealer that has refused or failed to inspect for this safety hazard.

59 Equipment problem of the 2012 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/21/2024

Today 11/21/24, I notified my husband as I am driving up the ramp going 50 my Ford started to shake hard. I had to hold on to the steering wheel and pull over with out pressing the break. I came to a stop and kept him on the phone in case I were to flip over. The vehicle stopped wobbling and I started up again. I was not able to drive but less than 40 and again the wobble coming back. The commute for me was over 1 hour. I would not make it alive home. This vehicle had to go to the shop as if I were to drive home I would not be alive at this moment.

62 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/18/2024

My sunroof is broken and in operatable, and the glass will not close all the way keeping the inside of the vehicle open to the elements. The noise is also very loud when traveling on the freeways. Ford quoted me $5000 to repair the system. The service advisor told me the Ford went with a different manufacturer because the parts kept braking from the old manufacturer. The advisor also told me that they would need to replace everything from the motor, tracks, etc. , because of their change in manufacturing. If Ford knows that the parts are defective, why isn't there already a recall on this system?.

64 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/06/2024

Our 2108, Ford F-250, lariat model with extended cab, the sunroof brackets (plastic) broke and the sunroof can not be opened or closed, and became loose. The brackets that hold the glass in place are made of plastic and they deteriorated to the point where they would no longer hold the glass in place. This is possibly a safety concern as the glass may detach from the roof and cause injury in the cab, or possibly fly off and impact oncoming vehicles or vehicles behind the f250. These brackets should not be made of plastic due to the very large glass sunroofs weight. This is a known problem as indicated by many others on youtube. Com, and other online website postings. Our f250 was taken into our local Ford dealership service department and upon inspection the tech indicated that both sides of the plastic arm brackets were broken and the window was non-operable. As per technicians official vehicle report it required replacement of fl3z 1651070 e :guide. Cost was $945. 47 to replace plastic brackets which will more than likely break again after minimal strain due to the heavy weight of the glass sunroof.

65 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/02/2024

I am an engineer in several capacities (electronic, mechanical, automotive) and have studied motor vehicle fluids and lubricants in chemical and physical properties details. 2020 Ford 250 truck, not light passenger veicle. A Ford dealer, ted russell parkside, 9925 parkside dr in knoxville TN, sold me the wrong power steering fluid for this commercial vehicle (truck). Invoice [xxx] dated 10/02/2024. The purpose was routine maintenance on a nearly new truck. They sold me passenger car power steering (ps) fluid, not the correct motocraft automatic transmission fluid (atf) : 1. ) as clearly specified on page 367 of the vehicles owners manual 2. ) as obvious by looking at the dark red fluid, its obviously Ford atf I took the steering fluid back to this Ford dealer who blamed the mistake on a computer printout, which is a false excuse considering point 1. ) above. The parts manager tried to blame me for the mistake stating I hadnt supplied the vehicles VIN number so they could look up the correct fluid. That was a deliberate lie 1. ) the owner can find the correct fluid without knowing VIN as in 1. ) above 2. ) the dealers parts employee neither asked for the VIN nor went out to get it as the vehicle was on their parking lot at the time of sale, 3. ) an attempt at blaming the victim (me) which is a deliberate deceptive tactic replacing the steering fluid in this heavy truck with the wrong, passenger car fluid, will result in fluid failure because normal ps fluid does not have the high pressure additive chemicals that are in the correct atf. The wrong fluid will not lubricate the steering pump or rack in operation, especially at heavy loads, and cause excessive metal-to-metal wear and probably longer term steering failure which can result in accident or death. This further could be a deliberate fraud, as the un-knowing vehicle owner would see system failure at some time in the future without being able to link the steering failure to installing the wrong fluid.
