When brakes are applied with force, truck will not steer. This is a major concern and all 1999, 2000, 2001 250 and 350 trucks have same problem. Dealer has been contacted. Ford tech notes state (11/13/". . . This is a normal condition and Ford isn't going to reengineer the vehicle to solve it. The condition comes from a new wider stance, tie rod angle and the fact that there is more weight in the front end than on the 97 old body style vehicle. The truck cannot be reengineered to solve the customers design issue unless the entire platform is redesigned. Ford is not going to incorporate a design change at this time and has not plans on the drawing board that the the hotline knows about. " there will be fatalities because of this brake/steering problem! .
When the brakes were applied at low speede the power steering locked up which made it difficult to steer vehicle.

This problem has to do with the inability to turn the steering wheel when truck is beeing operated from 0-5 mph and when brake pedal is depressed. The power assist is not strong enough to turn the wheel due to brakes and steering using the same assist resulting in severe hardship attempting to do things like back a trailer or parrallel .
When braking hard the steering locks up. This has happened 2 times and Ford says it is normal. This is very dangerous and could cause a serious accident. I almost hit 2 vehicles because of this problem! dt.
I am on 3rd power steering pump and 2nd. Hydrobooster in 53000 miles 3rd. Pump failing again I am already out 1600 dollars on these repairs . Ford has a major proublem with these trucks and are doing nothing about it .
While parking consumer lost power steering, and was not able to turn the steering wheel. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic duplicated the problem. Consumer encountered steering while attempting to park.

Brakes comepletely release when applied and hitting bump in road,must depress pedal to the floor to stop,on several occaisions. I've had three near accidents in past 30 days.

While driving the hydro boost failed causing loss of steering and brakes causing the truck to drift into ditch resulting in damage to the side panel, the consumer believes the brakes and steering should not be designed to be controlled by a common unit. Nlm.
While driving 35 mph and when vehicle was going around a bend the steering failed to respond, causing vehicle to crash into a guard rail. Both manufacturer and dealer were contacted.
