On October 29, 2025, while traveling around a sweeping freeway transition ramp at 65 mph in my 2020 Ford F-250 (46k miles on it), I hit a bump in the road. Suddenly the truck began violent, uncontrollable shaking of the front end of the truck and the steering wheel, feeling like the truck was about to fall apart. This terrifying, chaotic event caused me to struggle to steer and maintain control of the vehicle, sending me into the center divide. My son in law and 2 year old grandson were in the vehicle with me, visibly shaken by the event. Thankfully I was not pulling my travel trailer at the time, this could have ended in a critical situation. No warning lamps illuminated. Ford is aware of this issue and previously ordered a "customer satisfaction" repair, but that only covers 2017-2019 trucks. The truck is scheduled to be taken to the Ford dealership today 10/31/2025, however we are unclear whether there will be a cost for the repair.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph and attempting to change lanes, the contact felt a small bump. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle started to wobble violently, almost causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle due to the increased steering effort. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway to inspect the vehicle, but found no cause for the issue. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,668.

Ford f250 “death wobble”. I believe there’s a recall for 2017-20?? but the recall needs to be expanded to include 2016 models. I have had this issue twice. Very very dangerous!.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 - 65 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the vehicle experienced the death wobble, causing the vehicle to independently shift into either the left or right lane. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The contact was informed that a steering dampener could be added to the control arms. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.
I was travelling back home at about 65mph on the highway in my 2018 Ford f250 crew cab and my left front wheel hit a small bump in the road. The whole truck started to shake violently and I couldn't hold the steering wheel as it was also shaking uncontrollably. I thought at first that I had had a puncture but the truck wasn't leaning as such. The wheels where simply shaking from side to side very fast. I hit the hazard lights and gently brakes down to about 30 mph, pulled over to the side of the ride gently to avoid the risk of flipping over and stopped. When I started up again, the wobbling had stopped. I later looked up the. Probable cause and learned about the (infamous) death wobble which several people have experienced. It was truly scary as everything was shaking and I couldn't control the steering wheel. If it would have happened on a bend I would have gone straight over and flipped the truck as I wouldn't have been able to slow down in a straight line to stop the wobbling and shaking. . . This is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed as people will die. . .
The truck has 66,500 miles. One of our employees was driving and had the harmonic balancer bolt back out and harmonic balancer fell off. Truck has been sent to midway Ford in roseville, mn for repair.
Crossed over an overpass, the different road heights cause the death wobble. Have not taken to dealer yet.
Death wobble front shocks, steering dampner and new michelin tires have been installed vehicle will shake violently and have to bring speed down to get back under control.
Bumps in the road caused steering wheel to shake violently (death wobble) until truck was stopped in the middle of a 4-lane expressway. Truck is now at the dealer for inspection of frontend steering components. If there was heavier traffic, there would have been an accident. No warning signs present, only bumps in the road which the truck was not able to dampen or control.
My vehicle has a death wobble when you hit seams in the roadway.
Death wobble. Steering wheel shook violently twice in one 25 mile trip. Once at 73 mph and once at 65 mph. Almost caused a crash due to being on a curve in the road when it occurred.
The contact owns 2021 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving between 40 to 70 mph and driving over speed bumps, uneven pavement, or potholes, the vehicle was pulling hard to the left, making it difficult to control the vehicle. The contact had experienced the death wobble while driving. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to customer satisfaction program: 20n04 (steering linkage damper); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the customer satisfaction program. The failure mileage was 30,600.

My f250 experiences what is known as death wobble when driving over 50mph and hitting bumps. It's been happening much more frequently as of late. Only way to stop it from wobbling is getting over to the shoulder and slow down to approximately 40-45.
Death wobble.
Pulling my camper with my 2019 Ford f250. As we began to go down a hill I tapped the brakes to just slow down. I was driving around 55 mph. After I tapped the brakes the front end began to shake. I guess this is known as the death wobble. It was extremely scary. Never have had anything like this before. If Ford knows about this why have they not done anything? thanks.
When driven the vehicle approximately 60 miles I had to fight to keep it on the road. Hoffman found suspension was out, the vehicle is chasing the road when driving highway speeds (I upload the findings). This started from the time I purchased the vehicle until now. I purchased the truck from mark ficken Ford Lincoln, 7601 south blvd. , charlotte, nc on June 10, 2025, and left for middletown, CT the day after. I had to drive at a low speed to keep the truck on the road. I didn't test drive it because it was new. It is still in the shop for the 3rd time for the same problem. It is not safe to drive. It is dangerous for me and others. The shop does not seem to know how to fix the problem. Ford motor company has been notified but has not corrected the problem. I took it to hoffman Ford in CT and it is there now. The truck has been in the shop more than I use it. The first two times it was in the shop, they didn't even authorize a rental vehicle for me to drive. It's in the shop now and they did authorize a rental this time. The case # with Ford motor company is cxh0478, 1152f7n0cl, melanie krupa, case manager, phone 866-631-3788 ext. 79412 email: mkrapa4@Ford. Com. I uploaded the bill of sale, finance agreement and the repair statements from hoffman. I greatly appreciate your help. I am paying for a vehicle that is in the shop and is not safe to drive. Thank you.

While driving, when bumps are ran over sudden violent shaking of front end and steering wheel occur. Steering stabilizer and worn front rt 4 wheel drive universal joint replaced with problem continuing to occur.
Only had my truck for 6 months, my suspension is worn out causing a known issue known as death wobble. I was driving at 65mph with my family and extreme shaking occurred. Yes by a Ford dealership. Yes the truck and the area was inspected and confirmed to needing replaced parts. No warning lamps/lights appeared due to it being mechanical, I went to another shop after I already took it in to Ford, and they told me a missing component that may be the leading issue of it was deleted never there to begin with when I bought the vehicle at the Ford dealership. •truck details (2019 F-250 XLT 4x4, 88k miles) •death wobble at highway speeds •firestone confirmed factory stabilizer was deleted •def system not working •worn tie rods, drag link •low oil at purchase (indicating no inspection) •dealer is refusing to help •Ford corporate says there’s no active program — but I know TSB 19-2274 and csp 20n04 exist.
Driving on highway 70 mph. Drove a rough spot on highway. Pot hole patch. Death wobble started. Had to preform emergency stop to end death wooble. This is the 10th time this has happened.
Steering wheel shakes violently when going between 55 to 75 mph after hitting bump in road. Commonly known as the “death wobble”. Total loss of control.
Unstable control when driving over uneven roads. Are you sure that recall was done on my truck?.
Death wobble in front end. Violent shaking when you hit a bump.
We called our local Ford dealership, matthew Ford of pryor (oklahoma) and made an appointment for the safety recall of replacing the clock spring. They proceeded to attempt the replacement and in the process damaged the steering column module, part no. Gc3z3f791ka. We are now being told that Ford does not have the necessary steering column module part and nobody manufactures it for our trim level, platinum. Consequently, our truck is not able to be fixed and returned to us in the same condition it was given to the dealership. It is still at the dealership, in pieces. We dropped it off on March 27th, 2025.
