Bumps in the road caused steering wheel to shake violently (death wobble) until truck was stopped in the middle of a 4-lane expressway. Truck is now at the dealer for inspection of frontend steering components. If there was heavier traffic, there would have been an accident. No warning signs present, only bumps in the road which the truck was not able to dampen or control.

Entire vehicle shakes/wobbles extremely uncontrollably going a speed around 65; have to slow to avoid an accident and put on hazards. Makes our heart stop not knowing what danger we have been put in when it occurs. Very scary and dangerous to ourselves and others. Occurs with roadways involving dips, highways, ridges of bridges such as bumps or gaps, and/or differences in road, etc. This has occurred multiple times. ([xxx]) was another episode. This is scary dangerous! no lights or indications go off. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My f250 experiences what is known as death wobble when driving over 50mph and hitting bumps. It's been happening much more frequently as of late. Only way to stop it from wobbling is getting over to the shoulder and slow down to approximately 40-45.

Death wobble.
Pulling my camper with my 2019 Ford f250. As we began to go down a hill I tapped the brakes to just slow down. I was driving around 55 mph. After I tapped the brakes the front end began to shake. I guess this is known as the death wobble. It was extremely scary. Never have had anything like this before. If Ford knows about this why have they not done anything? thanks.
When driven the vehicle approximately 60 miles I had to fight to keep it on the road. Hoffman found suspension was out, the vehicle is chasing the road when driving highway speeds (I upload the findings). This started from the time I purchased the vehicle until now. I purchased the truck from mark ficken Ford Lincoln, 7601 south blvd. , charlotte, nc on June 10, 2025, and left for middletown, CT the day after. I had to drive at a low speed to keep the truck on the road. I didn't test drive it because it was new. It is still in the shop for the 3rd time for the same problem. It is not safe to drive. It is dangerous for me and others. The shop does not seem to know how to fix the problem. Ford motor company has been notified but has not corrected the problem. I took it to hoffman Ford in CT and it is there now. The truck has been in the shop more than I use it. The first two times it was in the shop, they didn't even authorize a rental vehicle for me to drive. It's in the shop now and they did authorize a rental this time. The case # with Ford motor company is cxh0478, 1152f7n0cl, melanie krupa, case manager, phone 866-631-3788 ext. 79412 email: mkrapa4@Ford. Com. I uploaded the bill of sale, finance agreement and the repair statements from hoffman. I greatly appreciate your help. I am paying for a vehicle that is in the shop and is not safe to drive. Thank you.

While driving, when bumps are ran over sudden violent shaking of front end and steering wheel occur. Steering stabilizer and worn front rt 4 wheel drive universal joint replaced with problem continuing to occur.
Only had my truck for 6 months, my suspension is worn out causing a known issue known as death wobble. I was driving at 65mph with my family and extreme shaking occurred. Yes by a Ford dealership. Yes the truck and the area was inspected and confirmed to needing replaced parts. No warning lamps/lights appeared due to it being mechanical, I went to another shop after I already took it in to Ford, and they told me a missing component that may be the leading issue of it was deleted never there to begin with when I bought the vehicle at the Ford dealership. •truck details (2019 F-250 XLT 4x4, 88k miles) •death wobble at highway speeds •firestone confirmed factory stabilizer was deleted •def system not working •worn tie rods, drag link •low oil at purchase (indicating no inspection) •dealer is refusing to help •Ford corporate says there’s no active program — but I know TSB 19-2274 and csp 20n04 exist.
Driving on highway 70 mph. Drove a rough spot on highway. Pot hole patch. Death wobble started. Had to preform emergency stop to end death wooble. This is the 10th time this has happened.
Steering wheel shakes violently when going between 55 to 75 mph after hitting bump in road. Commonly known as the “death wobble”. Total loss of control.
Death wobble in front end. Violent shaking when you hit a bump.
We called our local Ford dealership, matthew Ford of pryor (oklahoma) and made an appointment for the safety recall of replacing the clock spring. They proceeded to attempt the replacement and in the process damaged the steering column module, part no. Gc3z3f791ka. We are now being told that Ford does not have the necessary steering column module part and nobody manufactures it for our trim level, platinum. Consequently, our truck is not able to be fixed and returned to us in the same condition it was given to the dealership. It is still at the dealership, in pieces. We dropped it off on March 27th, 2025.

The contact was able to control the vehicle and slowed down and prevented the vehicle from driving off the road into a ditch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with hesitation in the steering wheel linkage, suspension failure, and an oil leak. The death wobble was due to the failure with the suspension. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer and the contact was provided the same diagnostic results. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 70 mph over a bumpy road surface, the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel started shuddering violently, causing the vehicle to veer to the right into the slow lane independently. The contact swerved and was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving at a slower speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper had failed, and the tie rods and ball joints were damaged due to the shuddering. The dealer informed the contact that Ford campaign number: 20n04 only covered the steering linkage damper replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,137.

Death wobble at 70 mph when driving over rumble strip in the middle of the road. Slowed down to almost 15 mph to stop the excessive violent shaking.
When temperature is below 32 degree clock spring in steering makes noise and causes steering to become stiff also renders horn in operable in positions while driving. I have brought this vehicle to get it fixed under warranty and the temperature raised to 40 degrees and everything worked as it should. I got cut off the other day and when I honked my horn it made no noise!.
I have been experiencing what is known as the “death wobble”. While driving at normal highway speeds, bumps or rough patches in the road will cause my vehicle to violently shudder. It is extremely difficult to maintain control and the vehicle has to coast to reduce speed to 20 mph before the shudder will stop. This is a known issue in previous year model f-series trucks. I have taken my vehicle to a dealership and had the issue confirmed as the steering stabilizer, however, Ford refuses to remedy the issue stating my year model is not affected. Ford claims the affected years models end at 2019. My vehicle is a 2020, however, my manufacturer date is 10/19. I believe my vehicle is actually what is considered a “half year”, meaning it received certain 2019 parts and certain 2020 parts. This issue is extremely dangerous for me as well as other motorists.
The tie rod broke while the vehicle was in motion. This caused the vehicle to lose control and crash into another vehicle, causing damage to both vehicles. There was no warning and no sign of any issues. Vehicle has been very well maintained, in fact, it has been in the shop at least once per month for the past year due to a number of mechanical issues unrelated to the tie rod.

2010 f250 repeatably experienced violent shaking of the front wheels and steering at highway speeds (commonly referred to as "death wobble"). This shaking has been so violent that I had no control of the vehicle steering and had to abruptly brake and slow to a near stop in 75 mph traffic! vehicle has 71k miles and has been very well maintained and garage kept (single owner). Substantial repairs have been made to replace steering dampener, track bar, drag link, and steering gear. Technician explained that all of these parts were severely damaged from the death wobble.

I was driving on a 1200 mile trip with my 39ft camper. I came off an overpass bridge and my truck felt like both front tires had popped. My steering wheel was bouncing like crazy and luckily I was able to get the vehicle to a stop and off the road. My 2 children and fiancé were also in the car and were lucky not to be killed. After stopping I looked over the truck and trailer and saw nothing wrong. We started to look up the death wobble on this model and it appears many people have also reported it. This truck only has 44k miles on it. I reported it to Ford and they have made it clear that they will not be doing anything, other than allowing my extended service plan to replace the same parts if they find an issue. After talking with Ford, I was driving my truck again without the trailer and the same thing happened. Luckily I was able to gain control of the truck again. The first instance I was going approximately 70 mph and the second I was around 60 mph. I am now afraid to drive this vehicle with my family and unfortunately I’m still 1000 miles from home.
On [xxx] I was driving to north carolina pulling a 43 foot fifth wheel camper when I hit a bump driving at 65 mph when I hit a bump and experienced the notorious Ford death wobble. The whole truck & steering started to shake violently I had to almost come to complete stop on interstate to get truck to stop shaking & to get truck under control I do know in fact that Ford has had issues with this problem & I am concerned why Ford has not recalled their trucks for this problem. My wife also drives this truck pulling the same camper. I am concerned this will happen again when she is driving. This problem almost caused a wreck from traffic behind me having to stop suddenly. As we are driving on a highway the truck steering begins to fiercely and violently wobble and cause us to nearly have an accident. This is a serious issue and we want this addressed please. Death wobble - on numerous occasions we have experienced the death wobble on our vehicle. We have complained to several dealers and done their recommended repairs. We have even purchased new high end tires as recommended with no resolution. We are unable to haul our RV out of fear of an accident. It has occurred at high speeds on the highway and at lower speeds on roads. This is very scary when it occurs. Coming to a full stop in a one lane hov lane is not only dangerous for us but also dangerous for those traveling behind us. This has been occurring for years with the most recent occurrence this week. After researching we discovered this route to file a complaint.
