Traveling at highway speeds on the interstate the truck began to shake violently and the steering wheel began shaking so hard that I had difficulty holding onto it. The truck was out of control and I almost went into the guard rail before I could slow down to a stop and bring the truck under control. I made it to my destination and looked at the underside of the truck and could not find anything broken. On the way back home, the truck did the same thing again after hitting a bump and I had to stop again to get the steering wheel to stop shaking - which was very concerning because of the amount of traffic I was in. There was no warning either time that this was going to happen. Going to the dealership tomorrow!.

While driving at 70mph on I-565 in huntsville, al, the vehicle suddenly began to shake violently after driving over a rough spot in the highway. Steering wheel was shaking and vehicle was shaking. I was able to stop the vehicle, and the shaking stopped and did not reoccur.

I was driving at 60 mph, when I hit a bump in the road, the steering wheel started shaking violently. Slowed down to pull off the road and the shaking stopped. Drove the rest of the way home without any vibration.

When I operate my 2017 Ford f250 at speeds greater than 45 mph and encounter a pot hole or bump in the road the truck begins a terrible "death wobble". The steering wheel shakes violently and the entire truck shakes and rattles. The dealership replaced a steering damper as part of a Ford extended warranty program but now claim the problem will persist because I have worn ball joints and a drag link that needs replaced. I was told this would cost me over $1,100 and it is not covered by Ford although it is obviously a flaw and a result of the failed damper. I can't believe Ford is willing to ignore such an issue. My family won't ride on the highway in the truck as it is too frightening for them. The sad part is the truck has 25,000 miles and cost me $50,000 and I can't drive it or depend on it now.

While driving my 2019 Ford f250 on the highway at around 55 mph ,hit a small rough patch on road and the steering wheel started shaking violently, almost lost control . Was able to lower speed and pulled over luckily me and my family did not crash. Ford need to be held accountable and fix this problem before someone gets killed! they need to address the problem with there steering components .

I was driving on the highway at 64 -66 mph when it went over an expansion joint in the road. The front end began to shake voilently and the steering wheel was shaking back and forth so hard I could barely gain control of the truck. I finally slowed down to about 20 mph and the shaking and sterring wheel shaking stopped. I was in the center lane and was almost rearended by 70 mile per hour traffic because of hitting the brakes so suddenly to try to maintain control of the truck. I had just bought the truck from the Ford dealership and I turned around and we went directly back and had them put it into the shop to determine what repairs that were needed. The truck is still at the dealership waiting to be inspected by their mechanic and necessary repairs determined.

While driving with the cruise control set at 78 mph (speed limit 80 mph) on I-80 between salt lake city, ut and wendover, nv, I went over a rough patch of road on a turn and the vehicle began to shake violently. The steering wheel was shaking back and forth rapidly and I was unable to maintain my lane through the turn. The shaking continued until I was able to slow to around 20 mph. If there would have been traffic around me I am convinced there would have been an accident. My wife, 4 year old daughter and new born son was in the vehicle. I searched NHTSA for a safety recall on the steering for Ford superduty pickups but found nothing but complaints about this issue. If this is not a recall worthy safety issue then I do not know what is. I no longer trust this truck to safely transport my family. I have maintained this vehicle well and it has only 36,000 miles on it.

I was driving down the highway at about 60 mph and upon hitting a bump experienced what I have come to know as the �death wobble� the steering wheel was shaking and presumably the tires were shaking as well because I could not gain control of the vehicle. Luckily I was in the right hand lane and could slowly brake to a stop and regain control of the vehicle. I believe, after some research, that this is due to a litany of suspension parts being loose or too weak.

Severe cases of the death wobble. Hit the slightest bump in the road going over 50 and the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably until you slow down to 10-20 mph. I have almost been in 3 wrecks now on the interstate from this issue. Ford told me the steering stabilizer bar is or backorder until mid January. I have a 60k truck I can't drive and not positive the steering dampner will even fix the issue.

My 2018 f250 king ranch has started the death wobble at just over 55,000 miles. It has done it at least 5 times now going 60-75mph if I hit a bump or pothole. When it starts, the steering wheel shakes back and forth and the vehicle can not be controlled until I slow to almost a complete stop. The most recent time, I almost hit a guard rail. I have taken the truck back to my local Ford dealership and they agreed to replace the steering damper, but told me the part was on backorder. I ended up getting one from napa and replaced it on my own, I do not feel safe driving this truck. Ford has a problem and refuses to acknowledge it.

I was driving on a highway about 75 miles and I hit a bump and I almost lost control of my truck with my kids in the car. It was very scary as I thought I would have been in a deadly accident with my family, I have been the only owner of my truck and it only has 24,000 miles. I don't understand how Ford has not recalled this issue in such an expensive truck.

Initially the vehicle was very hard to gain control of the steering while going over expansion joints on the interstate during a recent trip. Really scary event with my son in the vehicle. I had to come to a complete stop on the shoulder while almost getting rammed in the rear. Same day I hit a small bump in the road going 70 mph and with no traffic around the same thing happened. I had to pull to the shoulder and come to a stop for the shaking to stop. 2 times in the same day for the steering wheel to shake but the 3 time in a week that I have been scared to death I was about to die in a vehicle accident.

My vehicle's front tires started wobbling violently after going over bumps in the highway going speeds between 55mph and 80mph. These violent wobbles cause me to slam on my brakes and the wobble does not go away until I reached speeds between 20-30mph. The wobble jerks your steering wheel and shakes the entire truck and in some cases the wobble throws the vehicle into another lane and you do not have control of the vehicle until you reach the slower speeds. The wobble started after either 1. Riding over a normal bump or slightly un level area of a highway 2. Hitting small (less than 12" diameter) potholes on the highway, 3. Going over train tracks on 2 lane roads.

I have researched this and found it is commonly known as a death wobble. The videos found on youtube replicate it correctly. I'm not sure what other damage it may have caused to my truck. It has been happening since I bought the truck. I've bought an adjustable track bar and tried many different tires combinations. I have not found a solution.

The part is just a steering damper, which is a band-aid for the overall issue. Now my truck is doing it again(62,900mikes), 9 months after repair.

On multiple occasions over the past few months the front end of my truck has begun to shake violently. The steering wheel shakes badly and the only way to regain control is to brake quickly. In each instance the vehicle was traveling between 65 and 75 mph and the shaking seems to be instigated by hitting a an uneven section of the road�I specifically recall a bridge expansion joint and a pothole that set off the shaking. All incidents occurred on freeway straightaways. I tow a travel trailer and this shaking has occurred both when towing and not towing. In reading a blog frequented by travel trailer owners, this problem with the f250 has become known as the �death wobble� and seems to be experienced by many. I have been fortunate enough to have not been in an accident because of this problem, however, since the solution to wobble is rapid braking given the fact that this occurs on freeways at relatively high rates of speed, I imagine it will only be a matter of time until an accident occurs. Driving on interstate 80 outside of reno, nevada at approximately 72 mph while turning slightly left I encountered a small bump in the road from a bridge to asphalt transition. My steering wheel began to shake violently and I had no control of truck. I could not straighten the wheel as there was a semi truck in the right lane beside me. I had to put on my emergency flashers and slow the truck to under 20 mph to regain control of the truck. Nearly causing a major accident. I thought I was going to die. Please recall this item as Ford refuses to acknowledge this extremely dangerous flaw in their vehicles. I am afraid to operate this vehicle.

I was driving down the turnpike. This is a 4 lane divided highway like an interstate. I hit a crack leading to an overpass as I was traveling at about 70 mph. The truck immediately began to vibrate violently. The steering wheel was vibrating back and forth and up and down and was difficult to hold on to. I braked and pulled the truck to the side of the road. I resumed driving at a reduced speed and everything seemed fine. On my way home the same thing happened as I was driving about 60 mph. I was driving straight, I was not applying the brakes, the weather was in the low 80's and clear skies.

I am getting a death wobble. I bought it in to the dealership around 50 thousand miles on the truck and asked them to check in to this. They told me I need to change the tires. Which I did and I rotate them every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. I was driving down the highway to night at 70 mph which is the speed limit. It happen to me 2 times more on the way home. Luckily there was no one behind me. I know I am not the only one experiencing it. Ford has been giving me the run around. I am afraid every time that I hit a bump its going to happen. I paid a lot of money for this vehicle and it is unsafe for road use. I don't know what to do if I sell it I will lose money. This needs to get addressed very soon before some one is killed or I am killed behind the wheel.

I was driving along la 23 at about 65 mph in louisiana when I crossed a bridge, passing over where the highway meets the bridge when my steering wheel began to shake violently and lost ability to maneuver the truck. Experienced this approximately five more times recording the shake on my phone, I searched the internet when I got home and discovered the term "death wobble" occurring at speeds between 55-70. My truck begins to wobble violently when I hit a bump or joist in the interstate. Requires me to slow down to app 10mph on the side of the interstate to make it go away. Death wobble began to occur on Thursday, 17 Sep while traveling for work and I had to drive less than 50 mph the remainder of my way home. I took the truck to the nearest Ford dealership on Friday morning to address and fix the problem where they replaced numerous front end parts to the tune of $2100. 00. Picked the truck top on a Saturday morning and by Monday afternoon the wobble occured again traveling on I-12 at 65 mph near mandeville, la. I had to proceed 50 mph home where I took the vehicle back to the dealership immediately for further evaluation. Truck is currently at the local dealership, supreme Ford, in slidell, la for further evaluation. I have several videos capturing the wobble but am unable to upload to the website.

The steering wheel started shaking left to right and the truck was impossible to control. I had to slow down to below 45 mph before the death wobble would stop. My truck is totally stock with stock wheels and tires on it. This is a common problem with Ford super duty trucks, and Ford denies any responsibility! this is clearly a problem with many Ford super duty trucks and someone needs to make them step up and fix this hazardous condition which can lead to potential accidents. As of may 2020 Ford issued an extended warranty coverage for the steering linkage damper. I just took my truck to a Ford dealership for this repair and they're telling me I need to replace some ball joints and bushings at my cost. It is obvious that the ball joints and bushings that are failing are directly related to the violent death wobble, but Ford will not cover these costs. Again this problem has been going on for a long time with these trucks. What other vehicle wears out ball joints and bushing that fast?.

It occurred for the first time today, when driving at 55mph I hit a pothole in the road. Steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably back and forth. Had complete inability to steer the vehicle. Immediately let off the accelerator and the shaking stopped roughly 300 yards down the road. Luckily I was on a straight stretch of road and there were no oncoming vehicles, otherwise I am not sure I could have avoided a crash or made the turn. I did a search online and there seems to be quite a few f250 owners who have experienced the same issue.

I received a recall for a condition known as the superduty death wobble where the truck steering wheel shakes violently when you hit uneven pavement during highway speeds. I had experienced this twice then took it to my dealer who acknowledged and performed the recall. They replaced the steering dampener. It happened 4 more times with the new part and shaking far worse than before. Attached is the 2nd repair which acknowledges both repairs. I am trying to reach Ford motor company to file a formal complaint with help from my dealer. Attached is the repair invoice from the 2nd time in.

I gradually slowed down and regained control. I took the truck to a Ford dealer and they replaced the steering dampener. The service advisor told me that this was the second time that the truck had been repaired for that issue. The truck had fewer than 27,000 miles and the dampener had been replaced twice.
