36 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

I have experienced the death rattle/wobble with this vehicle which I bought brand new in November 2019. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and so does the undercarriage. I am not a mechanic so I don't know if it's the suspension, steering wheel or the wheels themselves. When I go over 25 miles an hour after hitting a bump on the road I experience this rattling. Also I hear the rattling below the engine like a loose muffler when I go over this speed.

38 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

While driving 60 mph on the freeway (posted speed limit 65mph) pulling a trailer loaded with 3000lbs of material (trailer rated for 7000lbs) that was secured with 5000lb tow strap I drove over a rough patch of concrete in the right lane. Truck felt like it was almost jumping to the left, steering wheel shaking violently, I completely lost control. The truck veered left drastically and I crossed 3 lanes of the freeway and slammed into the median wall at approximately 20 mph. More than $15,000 in damage to the vehicle. It is a miracle no one was injured.

39 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/07/2020

My 2019 f250 has 21,000 miles. I purchased it used, and have had it for a few months. In 2 family trips on the interstate at highway speeds- I have experienced the death wobble 4 times. It most recently happened twice in 50 miles of interstate driving. At a speed of 70 mph, which is the posted speed limit. While driving over an expansion joint near a bridge overpass, which is a mild bump, the entire front end of the truck will shake violently. The steering wheel shakes violently. The cab shakes violently. Everything. Back and forth laterally. It's extremely loud. The truck is barely able to be controlled. I have to turn on the emergency flashers, get to the emergency lane as soon as I can, which is extremely difficult while in a panic situation. After coming to a complete stop, and accelerating again, does the wobble stop. If you're able to drive over the expansion joint and hit it with both tires at the same time, nothing happens. It's only when the joint is contacted at an angle. When one tire hits, then the next, is what creates the death wobble. The only way to prevent this from happening is driving at 55mph, which is not only dangerous but potentially illegal.

40 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

I was driving on the highway when the front end of my truck began to violently shake including the steering wheel! I was going 65 mph and I could barley hold onto the steering wheel it was shaking so violently! both of my wrists are swollen and bruised as well as my right thumb. My nail on my right thumb is cracked and bruised as well as a result of holding onto the steering wheel as hard as I could. I immediately slowed down as soon as I could but I swerved into the other lane and then into a ditch. I lost control of the vehicle due to this violent shaking. This has happened multiple times to me, it seems to get worse each time! this truck is not safe and I want justice. There was another vehicle coming in the opposite direction, the highway I was on was a two lane highway. If he would have been 3 seconds closer I would have had a head on collision going 65 mph! the truck shakes so violently and it is terrifying!.

41 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/16/2020

Front wheels shake and steering wheel shakes after hitting rough spot or uneven area on road at speeds above 60 mph. This condition is commonly referred to as a "death wobble. " it is very dangerous and needs to be repaired or corrected. It occurs when going around a curve, but can happen when going straight.

42 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/14/2020

Vehicle steering wheel shakes when driving over rough roads or bumps. Commonly referred to the "death wobble". Truck is difficult to control while the wobbling is going on. My research shows many complaints and very little action from Ford to remedy the problem. This problem is a legitimate safety concern. I believe that Ford should have a recall campaign to fix this problem. The problem is described as a defect linked to abnormal wear and/or loosening of the track bar bushing, damper bracket, ball joints, control arms, shocks and/or struts. Vehicle is currently being repaired by a private shop not the dealer.

43 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/05/2020

Driving at interstate speeds, I hit a small bump in the road and the steering wheel began vibrating and turning back and forth at a high rate of speed. The front of the vehicle was shaking violently and I was forced to slow down to under 40 mph to get the vehicle back under control. I almost caused a wreck behind me from slowing down so quickly. This has now happened 3 times violently. First at less than 10,000 miles, the second at 42,000 miles and the last and most violently at 45,000 miles. I contacted the dealership, and they informed me that there was no recall, and that it was probably uneven tire wear or improper air pressure in my tires. It would not be covered by my warranty, even though I paid for the extended 100k mile platinum warranty. I have now replaced the track bar with an aftermarket version designed to correct the "death wobble" issue, and the problem has stopped.

47 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/07/2020

While driving on interstate highway at 65 mph, we hit an expansion joint and the steering wheel began shaking so bad we almost hit the truck next to us. The highway was so crowded all I could do was brake and hang on. Finally when the speed was at 25 it quit violently shaking. Checked the truck out at the next exit and found nothing obvious. On the way home, it did the same thing again with the same result. I have not driven on the highway since because I am scared that we could cause an accident. We live in a rural area with the closest dealer 75 miles away, I will get it there in the near future but my question is, is Ford aware of the problem? the truck has less than 15000 miles, and should not be doing this. We are in our late 60's and I can only hope I can hang on if it happens again. Thank you jeffrey phelps.

48 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/03/2020

I own a 2019 Ford F-250 king ranch. My truck has less than 15k miles on it. While traveling on the highway at approximately 65 mph I hit a small bump on the freeway which caused my steering wheel to shake violently (known as the death wobble. I was forced to immediately slow down and pull over to the shoulder before I could regain control over my vehicle.

We going down a fairly steep grade on a state highway going 63 mph, pulling my gooseneck trailer with 10k lbs of poles. I had to hold as tightly as I could to make the curve and hit the brakes and slowed to about 30 mph then it stopped.

50 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

While driving on interstate highway 70 in the middle of denver, we hit a small expansion joint. The steering wheel was shaking so violently I couldn?t hardly keep a hold of it to steer. I began braking and when I got down to 25 mph it stopped. My speed wasn?t excessive, I was doing the 65 mph limit. It has done this ? death wobble ? twice since then, and now I am apprehensive to drive it on the interstate. I will make an appointment with our local Ford dealer soon to look it over, but honestly I don?t have any hopes to a remedy. I was hoping to report this, and hopefully with the many others that are having the same issue, Ford may have to recall these trucks. Unfortunately, someone will have to perish to get any action from Ford. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

51 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

At speeds above 45 mph, after driving over rough road, the steering wheel vibrates uncontrollably until speed is reduced. This is happening while in traffic and will eventually cause a serious accident or death! .

52 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

While traveling on an interstate at approx. 70 mph we hit a small bump in the road. The front end of the truck and steering wheel began to shake violently (oscillate). The only way to make it stop was to suddenly reduce speed and move to the shoulder. We experienced this 5 more times, sometimes occurring after just going over a road joint. This is extremely dangerous as you must have enough shoulder to get off of the road and vehicles behind you may not be aware that you are suddenly stopping. We have since learned that this is commonly known as the "death wobble" and Ford has known about it for a long time. The truck is under warranty and we took it to our local dealer. They claimed to have fixed it by replacing the steering damper (which should not go bad at 20,000 miles). There is no way to know if this repair will work other than to take your life in your hands and drive the truck waiting for the next incident to occur.

53 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/09/2020

Driving on a 3 lane highway in the left lane approximate speed was 70mph. I went over a small pothole and the truck started shaking uncontrolably for about 40 seconds. Failure Date: 02/04/2020

Driving down the highway at 70mph, I hit a rough patch on highway and suddenly the steering wheel started vibrating vigorously, whole truck was shaking and pulling to the left. I struggled to control it and began to slow down, at around 45-50mph the shaking stopped and regained control of the steering. Truck continue to have excessive shaking when hitting small bumps on highway. This happened on the day I picked up the used truck from the dealership as I was driving home, truck approximately 37,700 miles. The next day on my way to work, I hit a small bump on the highway going 72mph and steering wheel began vibrating, but was not a vigorous as day prior.

56 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/03/2020

While in motion the vehicle will become unstable or completely uncontrollable at times after you hit a bump. The front end and steering wheel shake and the only way to make it stop is to slow down or stop completely. The dealership has addressed this issue twice and they do not know how to fix. Loss of vehicle control is a serious issue and this is a well known and documented issue that the manufacturer needs to address. 3 out of 4 people I know that have the super-duty trucks have this issue.

57 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/02/2020

Steering wheel started shaking violently out of nowhere while driving on the interstate. I was traveling approximately 70 mph when out of the blue the vehicle/steering wheel violently started shaking and I started losing control of the vehicle. I had to hold on to the steering wheel as tight as I could and brake and it finally came under control. I literally thought I was going to die, that was the scariest moment of my life!! I will not drive this vehicle on the interstate again, nor will I let my children ride in this vehicle again. This is the 4th time this has happened and it is a very serious problem with this truck and it is very frightening.

62 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

While traveling at highway speeds (roughly 75mpg) three times I hit a bump in the road and the steering wheel begin shaking violently nearly eliminating driver control. The first time it happened I was able to get to the shoulder and the shaking continued until I was nearly stopped. The next two times it happened the violent back and forth (20 degrees +/-) to either side it subsided once I slowed to around 40 mph on the shoulder. I have had the truck to the dealer prior to this to diagnose what I felt like was a faulty steering stabilizer because the steering wheel would have a jitter while going over bumps. I was informed the TSB for a new steering stabilizer was on backorder. I have a 20 second video of this happening (I was Smart enough to take one the third time it happened) but it is too big to attach. Please tell me who I can send it to.

63 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

My 2018 f250 4x4 crew cab has 25,500 miles on it and has been in and out of the Ford dealer several times due to the "death wobble" issue. I almost lost control of the vehicle when it happened after hitting a small separating in the concrete on 1-75. The front end and steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably and the truck immediately begin to pull to the right. Luckily there was not a car in the right lane because there would have been an accident. As a result of this incident, I was immediately forced to pull off the road and stop the vehicle to access the situation. I got out to inspect all four tires thinking that I might have a flat tire. That was not the case. Ford should not be selling this vehicle at all until there is a design change to the front suspension. If my wife was driving when this happened I fear that she could of lost control and ended up in a major accident.

64 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/11/2020

Truck has a death wobble . . . Steering wheel shakes to the point of being uncontrollable. Happens when hitting a bump or ruff spot in road, train tracks, bumps on bridges. Can see where losing control would be very easy . God help if you had a loaded trailer hooked to it. . .

65 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

I was driving down us 1 north at approximately 70 mph, when I traveled across an uneven (rough patch) in my lane and my steering wheel along with what felt like the whole truck started violently shaking. I let go of the steering wheel slightly and quickly dropped my speed and then steered my truck to the shoulder of the highway. Once I composed myself, I recalled that the steering returned to normal once my speed was decreased to approximately 40mph. I made several notes immediately about what, when and where this happened. I immediately started calling my dealership to relay what had just happened and to make an appointment. After several appointments and 2nd opinions, no one has been able to resolve the problem. I have been told conflicting stories from Ford about the problem and it seems like this has happened to numerous people across the country. My wife refuses to drive this truck any longer. I've had every part of the steering (damper, linkage, caster, etc) checked and been told there is nothing wrong. I have spent lots of money trying to replace parts I thought could be the culprit. During this time, I have experienced this issue two more times. I was driving my stock ( no modifications) in normal conditions when this exact problem occurred again. The second time was while I was traveling down us1 south and crossed a bridge expansion joint traveling approximately 70mph, when my steering wheel started shaking so violently, I had to let go and just quickly apply the brakes to reduce the speed so I could again grasp the steering wheel and drive to the shoulder if the road. After 4 different mechanic shops and getting the "run around" from Ford, nothing has happened. I am currently putting a over $300 steering stabilizer on to help mask the problem if this happens once again.

66 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/05/2020

After hitting a bump on the highway travelling at 75 mph, the front end and steering wheel started shaking violently. Nearly lost control of the vehicle. The shaking did not stop until speed was reduced to less than 35 mph.

67 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

Death wobble!! was going home from work, and there are some bumps in the road and my truck steering wheel started to shake very badly. Had a hard time keeping my truck in control. Had to pull onto the shoulder of the road and come to almost a complete stop before it stopped. It happened a few times before where the steering wheel would shake some, then stop on its own, but not that time. If a death wobble causes a accident or worse yet, someone gets killed, Ford will have a law suit on their hands. 😨 this happened on a highway (hwy 59 in fort bend county in texas. On a straight way going about 60 - 65 mph.

68 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/03/2020

Driving approximately 65 mph on a dry road 01/03/2020 I went over a slight rough spot in the road. The front wheels immediately began to vibrate severely. The steering wheel was shaking out of control. I hit the brakes to slow down to approximately 35 mph when the vibrating wheels and the shaking stopped. This is the fourth time this has happened to over the two and a half years I have owned this truck. In reading about other complaints I do not understand why Ford is not addressing this problem. I am taking my truck to my Ford dealer on Monday to have them tell me what they are going to do about this issue. This could have easily caused an accident as the truck was violently shaking. People tend to panic and may have drastic reactions when something like this happens. We need to keep up the pressure on Ford to recognize this problem and fix it before somebody gets hurt or killed.

69 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

At speeds of 65mph and above, when hitting bumps in the road the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably until you slow down to around 25mph or even stop completely. When this is happening, the steering wheel shakes so much that it is hard to hold on and bring the vehicle to a stop. It is very dangerous when traveling on an interstate and this begins to happen, as you are required to reduce your speed significantly which could absolutely cause a wreck as your trying to make it over to the shoulder safely. This has happened multiple times and is a complete surprise as to when it is going to happen. I now know what it is like to have the death wobble in the front end as I truly fear for my life when it happens. I have not been able to get video of the death wobble occurring, as I haven't had a second person with me when it has happened. Even when traveling at lower speeds (35mph-55mph) and going across bumps in the road, I still experience a wobble in the steering wheel however it does not go into the death wobble scenario where the whole truck begins to shake. I am however fearful that someday it will begin to start the death wobble at these lower speeds.

70 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

While towing a 5th wheel trailer on the 10e bound we hit a rough patch of road. The truck and steering wheel began to shake violently to the point where I thought we had blown a tire. I was able to slow the truck down and at about 30mph the shaking stopped and then I pulled safely off the road. I exited the vehicle to investigate and there appeared to be nothing wrong with the truck. I called the Ford dealership and a service tech said "it sounds like death wobble". That was the first I had ever heard of death wobble. We were able to limp the truck home at 40mph and then it went straight to the dealership. They had the truck for 2 weeks because the part was on backorder. This is a ridiculous situation that should never happen and I can only hope never happens to anyone else.
