Ford F-250 owners have reported 5 problems related to noises during shifting (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Motor has a nkocking tapping sound like and old school type writer and gets loud at times when ideling and some time really loud anfter driving it fo rw whlle, (diesel engine doesn't sound like that),Ford engineering at factory knows what the problem is but refuses to allow dealership to repair it and replace the parts. Transmission had snecor and valve body go out caused transmission to lock up in 10th gear and stalling out. Dealership replaced the parts with new ones, bu tdid not correct the problem and now stalles and slippes when shifting gears, or sometimes shifts so hard it shakes the truck (f250 diesel). Has a grinding noise when down shifting from 5,4,3 gears. When drivining the truck and go to pass around another vehicle is slips gears are stalles down until it can catch its gear to go happened several times. Vehicle only has 6,500 miles on it and was purchased August 26, 2020 and should not have these issues and problems. Most of all the factory engineers should not deny the dealership to fix and replace what is wrong and cauusing the lound and upnogchis knocking ticking sound even after doing a black box flight recorder to determine where the problem is coming from. They said to keep driving until enough complaints com in to have a recall sent our are until it brakes and goes out. This is a safety hazard to everyone on the road and could possibly cause harm to inisant people, such as myself, my family, and others out on the road. Please have this looked into and help get it taken care of.

I started the truck one morning to head to church put the truck in (d) drive headed out down the hwy pulled up to a stop sign on the way when traffic cleared I pressed the accelerator and the engine revived up real high but the truck didn't move and about the time I started to let off, the transmission clunked and took off and shifted weird between 1st and 2nd. The truck has responded two other times in the very same way once going about 40mph it reacted like the truck shifted in neutral. Ford dealer replaced the front pump in transmission, it still shifts weird and makes a terrible whining noise. Two or three times under acceleration to pass another vehicle the trans down shifted from 6th gear to 4th and would not shift back up, and then the opposite occurred pressed accelerator to floor running about 45mph to pass another vehicle and the trans never down shifted and I had to brake and fall back in behind that car before a head on occurred. There is definitely a safety issue with this truck, I have filed lemon law action and Ford engineer came and drove the truck and he said there was no unusual concerns with the truck. Someone please investigate this before someone dies.

Purchased a Ford f250 crew cab 4x4 with 6. 0 psd in September 04. In the first part of November 04 used electronic on the fly shift to place in 4 wheel drive, vehicle made a load pop. When I tried to remove from 4x4 it would not release. The truck also had a load popping noise from the left front wheel area. Took truck to dealer, he was suppose to replace both hubs per service paperwork. Along with having to do a front wheel alignment( I had not ran into or hit nothing). Received truck back, still had popping noise in left front wheel area, called dealer was told nothing to worry about. Went to tennessee on vacation, 4x4 locked in 4x4 again, had to drive it back from tennessee that way. Ocne again when turning left or right truck made a aweful noise, along with the popping that was there before. Took back to dealer, again said hubs replaced. Got truck back again no noise when turning but still has popping on starts and stops, also when the tranmission shifts gears theres a klucking noise. Took truck back again, was told they could not find anything wrong. This continued till it got real bad, called dealer, dealer had factory rep on hand to ride with me in the truck, the rep heard the noise and felt it, told dealer to look into driveline problem, truck was kept by dealer recieved it back two day later, dealer again said we can't find anything. Truck is still making the same noise but now has started to get louder, truck also now after the dealer update the flash has no power, and is hard to start. I paid a lot of money for this truck that I am worry about driving because of not knowing when or if it well break down.

Loud knocking noise from engine, dealer said drive it until it quits it is a gas engine but it sounds like a diesel,, transmission which is a 5 speed manual comes out of gear when you shift from 2 to 3 this happens about 20-30% of the time at speed of about 15 engine rpm is around 3000-3500, had a proublem with the air bag system when is was 2 days old dealer had the truck for about 3 weeks, not to sure that I want them to tear into the transmission, engine noise the service manager had no idea what that proublem is.
