the consumer stated while traveling in a 35 mph zone, on a curved road, he heard a noise coming form the engine compartment. He was in the middle of a strong right turn when suddenly he was unable to steer the vehicle without extreme effort on his part. When the steering failed he tried to apply the brakes, but they also failed. The contact stated the power steering pulley fell off the engine while driving. This caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle and resulted in loss of power steering and brakes. Upon inspection, the pulley appeared to be glued on instead of bolted. The contact believed there was a defect in the way the pulley was attached to the shaft. Power steering assist hose burst at the fixing while parking the vehicle in the garage. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who replaced the hose and the fixing.

While driving and turning in either direction driver heard a loud popping noise, and the power steering failed. Driver had difficulty steering. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced.
Loss of power steering while pulling into a parking lot. Problem was due to a erupted high pressue hose fitting into power steering pump; dealer was notified. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.
High pressure power steering hose failed at the quick connector on the discharge of the power steering pump. The connector came apart and caused a rapid loss of fluid and loss of steering assistance.
