Death wobble experienced by me on 5/10/19 doing 60 on rural road. Experienced the death wobble on the interstate going 65 at least 6 times the next time. A motorcycle almost crashed-Ford fixed by front end alignment-experienced it again and almost lost control on the interstate. Took to Ford to repair and the svc mgr suggested we file a case number with Ford cas-22221345-c3v0p4 on 7/23/19, Ford cust experience specialist suggested we take to another dealer, took to took to gordie boucher who said it recommends replacing both tie rods due to inner tie rod at the pitman arm has play in it and the right side upper tie rod has play it it toopreplaced left side drag link and the right side upper tie. Dealer stated worse truck they had ever driven. Death wobble happened again going 35 down hwy h in kenosha county. Everytime this happened we had to pull over to the side of the road or an off ramp on the interstate due to construction. Waiting for an off ramp is the scariest because you hope you can control the truck to make it off the interstate. My husband did research and found others replaced the following so he did the same-replace the steering shock, the stabilizing bar assembly, the track bar assembly, and the front shocks. Ford did 2 front end alignments, they turned rotors also. . Ford customer experience specialists keeps telling us to take to the dealer to determine the problem. Per Ford, tire tread and wear are good. It appears everything my husband has done has fixed the problem, but we will see when we drive down the road on our next interstate trip. Right now we have paid out $1,675 and my husband has done all the work. We are scared to death that something is going to happen. We are unsure what steps we should be taking, but we are afraid we could die and no one knows about this.

At approximately 35,500 miles I had the track bar, a new steering box and pitman arm replaced because of wear, at approximately 36,000 the truck developed "death wobble" 3 times over small bumps at about 50mph . I took it immediately back to Ford and they replaced the steering stabilizer. I was driving south on I 81 in the fast lane thinking they fixed and the truck again went into death wobble at approximately 65 -70 mph and had to brake extremely hard down to about 35 mph to get it to stop almost causing a major pile up as there was heavy traffic at that time. After I got back I dropped the truck at Ford again and told him drive it, which he wouldn't , he said he checked all the steering components and they were tight, he said "take to some place that has a better alignment rack, so I did that and paid out of my own pocket for it. It did not fix the problem, I replaced the steering box to a top of the line box out of my own pocket even though it had been replaced . I have not been able to drive my truck safely since Nov. Of 2018 and it is now Jul. 29th 2019. I cant let anyone else drive it for fear of killing an innocent person, even the mechanic that put the second steering box in did the alignment again is scared to drive it because it happened with him after the 2nd replacement box. After looking for the problem and solutions I have found this is a huge issue. If this is not taken care of people are going die, if they have not already. It is very hard to believe there are not deaths and very serious injuries caused by this as I have been thrown into the other lane several times and drop a huge amount of speed very quickly . I paid $60,000 dollars for a brand new truck and now no one can safely drive it, even the mechanic's are scared to drive it. I have had death wobble at least 13 to 15 times from January until now and at speeds from 45 to 70. Please help !!.

This is the 2nd time this has happened. About 5 years ago I was in ocala, florida. After unhooking my goose neck trailer I thought my steering was not right, I pull into homewood suites and completely lose my steering. I had it towed to ocala Ford and they find the nut of the pitman arm (steering) had fallen off and was sitting on the axle. Now what if I had been on the open highway with that big trailer full of horses. They put it back on. Today I noticed my steering felt "loose". I had my son get under it and that damn nut is ready to fall off again> and I just had it at oxmoor Ford a couple monts ago & asked them to check it for me because it scared the hell out me the first time so I had it checked. What is Ford going to do to assure me this will not happen again??? I reported this to you all when it happened the first time so you have my previous complaint. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 87,000.

1. Driving at speeds of 65mph+ in a 2008 Ford F-250. 2. Hit a minor seam in the paved road. 3. Front end wobble (known on many internet sites at the "Ford death wobble". My truck was under warranty and I took it to Ford dealer the next day. They tighten the pitman arm. There was a Ford technical service bulletin issued for this problem and it indicated improper tire pressure. Totally not true. The front end wobble was so severe it made me cross into on-coming lanes of traffic. Luckily no one was coming the other way or there would have been a serious accident. The Ford dealer also replaced the front stabilizer shock. The very next day the exact same thing happened. Violent front end wobble at 65mph+ and when a small bump was hit. I had to slow the truck down to 20mph on an interstate freeway in order to get the wobble to stop and almost caused another accident. Two hours later it happened again! violent wobbling of the front end. The dealer claims there is nothing wrong with the truck. However, after researching the matter on the internet there are hundreds of cases of this same problem. . Read more...
Steering gear box. It has become disengaged at the pitman arm. And leaking fluid. I have found that the 97 and 99 versions of this truck have had problems and recalls for this. I was told a while back ( about 1 year ago) by a car dealership owner that this truck is actually a 99 I would like to add my vehicle year to this list. I have also had problems with the spark plugs "popping out" which is also a problem with the triton engines.

I was driving east on burke hill rd at approx. 35 mph when the steering went on my pick up truck, then I hit a pine tree and broke the radiator, the drivers side front quarter panel was folded back to the drivers door and I saw a piece of the under carriage hanging down and come to find out it was the spectar arm broke by the front tire(drivers side), and when the garage picked the truck up in the air they found out the transfer case was broke nearly in half. They felt the cause of the accident was the broken spectar arm.
