3 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/12/2020

Vehicle mileage was ~23,500. While towing a gooseneck trailer that I had previously towed several times, on I-74 on wet pavement, speed 70 mph the steering wheel and vehicle began to shake violently after driving over a bump in the road. The vibration frequency was probably something like 4 hz. I gradually slowed the vehicle with sustained vibrations occurring until speed was approximately 35 mph. I stopped the vehicle and inspected all truck and trailer tires and the steering linkage but I could not find anything abnormal. I contacted the local dealership and was told the truck was still safe to drive. This phenomenon reoccurred several times over the next 15 miles. This was easily the most violent shaking and frightening experience due to a vehicle malfunction I have ever encountered. In winter driving conditions, I suspect I would have lost control of the vehicle. I completed the trip at speeds under 60 mph and the vibrations did not return. Once I unhooked from the trailer, the vibrations returned driving down a township road at 55 mph. Each time this occurs, it is started by driving over a bump in the road. The frequency and amplitude of the vibrations are constant while decreasing vehicle speed until the vibrations stop, typically around 30-40 mph. To date I have received no notifications of recalls related to this phenomenon. The dealership I purchased this truck from stated that they had "heard of this problem in some 2017 models, but never in a 2019 model. " this truck is primarily highway driven. It is completely unacceptable that any suspension components should wear enough to cause a potential safety issue in less than 25,000 miles. Ford should be held responsible for fixing this issue.

6 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/16/2015

During the epa mandated exhaust regeneration cycle the vehicle begins to shudder uncontrollably along with power loss. This behavior began at around 5,500 miles and now does it at least every other exhaust regeneration. It happens on multiple lane country roads and city roads at around 50 to 60 miles per hour. It seems more specific to the regeneration cycle than any other driving condition or input. Temperature is between 40 and 70 degrees outside so far. Each time it happens is worse than the last. The experience is scary and could be very dangerous. I no longer let my wife drive this vehicle for fear that it may shudder her off the highway.

10 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2001 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/10/2004

I was driving my Ford 2001 F-250 under normal operating conditions when the transmission shifted very hard shaking the entire vehicle and started making a grinding noise then it began to shift erratically. This vehicle did go out of warranty on April of 2004 but it only has 32,600 miles on it(as of 8-10-04) the two Ford dealerships in our area palm springs Ford and fiesta Ford both told us it was out of warranty and would charge us to fix the truck. Palm springs Ford couldn't start for two weeks and fiesta Ford wanted at least $2400 to fix the transmission. We were recommended to an independent repair shop that could fix it immediately for $1795 and he would guarantee his work for 36000 miles. We had the work done and immediately contacted the Ford service center to see if we could get reimbursed for the cost of repairing the transmission since it was only 4 months out of warranty and still under 36,000 miles. We were turned down for any help from fiesta Ford and their Ford factory rep. We called the Ford customer service center and were told there was nothing they could do and they refused to give us any names or addresses of other people to contact.
