1 Ignition problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/15/2007

I havea 1999. 5 Ford F-350 diesel crewcab dualley truck. On 05/15/2007 while driving on the freeway noticed a loss of power. I got off freeway, and truck was idling erracticly and roughly with loss of power. The next day truck started up like normal. I test drove the truck, and same symtoms occurred. This time the check engine light came on. I changed the cam positioner sensor (cps), and reset the computer. I test drove the truck with no problems I had before.

3 Ignition problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 11/10/2006

(1) no events besides a sudden miss or complete lose of power (2) engine dies (3) I have had my 2000 f350 drw and I tow 16k lbs I have had the motor cut out and die at highway speeds, I replaced the cps twice in 15,000 miles at 105 bucks each from International. Towing this amount of weight at this type of speed is not safe to have a motor that dies with no warning.

Failure Date: 09/18/2006

: the contact stated while driving 60mph on the interstate, the check engine light illuminated followed by the vehicle operating at a reduced speed. This was intermittent in nature. The vehicle was pulled over without incident. After turning off the ignition for a moment, the engine restarted without further incident. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the engine computer needed to be reprogrammed. Afterwards, the engine stalling persisted. The manufacturer was alerted.

6 Ignition problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/15/2006

My F-350 super duty diesel suddenly shut down while driving during rush hour without any warning, losing total power: power steering and brakes. Not being able to move it due to traffic and since it wouldn't start police were notified so that an accident would not occur. Eventually it was towed to a near by parking lot and then towed directly to the dealer where they notified me that my cam sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. Not thinking much of it a few days later someone told me that they are known for going bad and I had better keep one in my glove box as a spare or I might find myself stranded again. This concerns me since my wife sometimes drives it and we have 3 children, not to mention that it cost me $420. 00.

7 Ignition problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/20/2005

I was driving and my truck stalled before getting to a complete stop. I was about to reach bumper to bumper traffic. Luckily there was grass on the right hand side and I pulled in there to avoid hitting a car. Had to go over the sidewalk. After turning off, I tried to start with no luck. After 10 minutes I tried again and it started. A little down the road same thing happened, it stalled. Happened like 2 more times until I got to work. Called my mechanic and he stated that the cps usually goes out and he bought one for me. Installed it and it worked. Just waiting for the next time it happens as I have read these things give out all the time.

8 Ignition problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/18/2005

Consumer has previously filed a complaint for the same problem on October 22, 2004, at that time he spoke with frank boris and steve chan. The vehicle cuts off while driving, and steering/ brakes go out. The consumer was transporting a 11000 pound boat, the brakes on the trailer actually stopped the vehicle. Consumer was concerned because Ford has refused to fix the problem until warranty expired. The last time norris Ford worked on it, after warranty expired, they said it needed 8 new injections ,and would cost $2500. Consumer 's vehicle crashed into a ditch because of this problem. After the vehicle stalled this last time,he had to have it towed. The vehicle currently won't start, and hasn't started since the problem occurred. The problem started within the last 5,000 miles.

9 Ignition problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/08/2005

This happened several months ago, but my F-350 power stroke had the dreaded cam position failure. My daughter was stuck at an intersection in 5 o'clock traffic and the truck was dead. I carried a spare sensor in the glove box knowing that this is a very common failure. Imagine being in the left lane of the interstate when it decides to fail. Lose power steering and power brakes. Read about cps failures on "thedieselstop. Com". Could fail when turning left in front of on coming traffic. I feel this is a very dangerous flaw in this motor.

12 Ignition problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/02/2004

April 2nd of 2004 driving at 30 mph and coasting to a stop sign the number 3 spark plug blew out of the right side cylinder head of my 1999 Ford F-350 with a v-10 engine in it. Ford in kingman,az. Installed a reconditioned cylinder head that had a spark plug blow out of it and a steel insert was the fix for that cylinder head. I was given a reconditioned head with the insert in it and told by the Ford mechanic in kingman,az. That it is just a matter of time before it blows another spark plug out or sucks the steel insert into the engine. I sinserly hope I'm not 100 miles from anywhere when this happens again. I also hope it's not going to happen on the way to the hospital trying to help someone. This is a vast problem and can easily be researched on the internet by simply typing in "Ford v-10 ,spark plug". Ford knows this is a casting problem with the aluminum heads having only 3 thread count in each cylinder hole holding each spark plug in.

13 Ignition problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/22/2003

Engine just stopped running. Coasted to side of rode, turned ignition off then back on and the truck started.

14 Ignition problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/06/2001

Tire failed on asphalt, no load, no warning. Total separation , only bead the tire tread left. No road hazard at time. Same as two previous firestones tires, not the same type or year. Electrical system: diesel would die out for a few seconds, then came back on by itself. Loss of steering and all power during lost power or curves and hills. Ford reprogrammed computer after several visits there.

15 Ignition problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/24/2001

The truck will not start right away especially when the weather is hot. It grinds numerous times then starts. It has been in the shop a total of 6 days since I've had it. At which time I either have to rent my own rig to get to work or walk 7 miles each way. Ford customer service has been contacted 3 times. They say that until it "quits running" they can do nothing. I interput that to mean potentially when I have an accident, we'll do something.
