2 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/01/2026

While traveling with my fifth-wheel camper attached, my 2022 Ford F-350 super duty (6. 7l power stroke) suddenly developed a complete no-crank condition. Prior to the failure, the vehicle displayed multiple electrical warnings, including u0100 (lost communication with pcm), high engine temperature, advancetrac, blind spot system fault, hill start assist, and pre-collision assist warnings. The vehicle ultimately became disabled and would not crank or start, leaving me stranded away from home while towing a trailer. Repair description after troubleshooting the vehicle, I discovered severe internal corrosion inside the under-hood battery junction box (bjb). The corrosion appeared consistent with Ford technical service bulletin 23-2133 regarding moisture intrusion into the battery junction box on certain 2020–2022 super duty trucks. I purchased a genuine Ford replacement battery junction box from a Ford dealership and installed it. Immediately after replacement, the vehicle started normally and all warning messages disappeared. I retained the failed battery junction box and have photographs documenting the internal corrosion. Safety concern my concern is not simply the repair cost but the safety implications of this failure. The vehicle became completely disabled while towing a fifth-wheel trailer during travel. A sudden electrical failure affecting the battery junction box can leave occupants stranded and may create hazardous situations if it occurs in remote locations or during travel. Because Ford has issued a technical service bulletin addressing moisture intrusion into the battery junction box, I believe this condition should be evaluated to determine whether additional action is warranted.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/01/2026

The backup camera on the tailgate fails about 50% of the time when shifting into reverse. The screen is black. When it fails, I can sometimes get it to work by opening, then slamming the tailgate. I suspect that there is an intermittent open circuit in the camera system. This presents a dangerous situation when trying to back this very large dual rear wheel vehicle. This is not related to the current recall for another issue with the camera when backing into a darkened area.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/01/2026

I was driving my truck home when it completely shut off, I lost all power to everything, including the power steering brakes. When I got home, I did some research on the internet to see possible causes. Apparently there is a service bulletin for the fuse box having water getting into it from the cowl of the hood, which states it can do exactly what happened to my truck? you can also keep your truck running and not shutting off and just to hold host of other safety issues with the service bulletin. . So I brought my truck in to get diagnosed by Ford and they did indeed say it was the fuse box under the hood that got water into it and shorted it out. Ford would not cover this part even though I have a factory extended warranty, annoying this is a common issue for 2020 to 2022 Ford trucks they issued a recall on expeditions in a couple other vehicles, but not Ford trucks specifically the super duties. How is this? ok that they don’t tell a customer who purchased a vehicle that this could potentially happen and then when it happens, they refuse to cover anything even though it’s their fault why it happened.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/30/2026

I am filing this complaint regarding my Ford F-350, VIN [xxx], which caught fire on xxx. The truck had approximately 130,000 miles, which I consider low mileage for a properly maintained diesel Ford F-350. These trucks are known for long service life, and many Ford diesel trucks routinely remain in service for 20 years or more and exceed 250,000 miles when properly maintained. For that reason, I did not expect a sudden and catastrophic fire in a truck with only 130,000 miles. While driving, passing motorists alerted us the truck was on fire. The fire appeared to originate in the engine compartment and spread extremely rapidly. Within a very short period, the front of the truck was engulfed in flames and sustained catastrophic damage. Based on the speed and severity of the fire, I am concerned a failure in the engine compartment, fuel system, electrical system, or another vehicle component may have caused or contributed to the fire. This truck has been well maintained, kept clean, and responsibly cared for. I followed the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines and did not expect a sudden engine-compartment fire. After the fire, I found reports of other F-350 fires and references to fire-related complaints and investigations. This raises serious concerns Ford may have known of a potential fire risk involving these trucks. This incident created major safety hazard not only to the occupants of the truck, but to other motorists and anyone nearby. Had passing drivers not alerted us, the outcome could have been far worse. The severity of the fire required a major emergency response, including multiple fire trucks and police. A vehicle fire of this magnitude presents an obvious risk of serious injury or death. I request NHTSA investigate Ford F-350 and vehicle fire incidents to determine whether a defect involving the fuel system, electrical system, or related parts may cause these trucks to catch fire without warning. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

While towing any trailer with electric brakes it appears the integrated trailer brake controller is briefly applying trailer brakes unexpectedly. Very brief but very hard, resulting in an extreme rearward pull on the truck. It happens at exactly 60 minute intervals, at any speed, uphill, downhill and level flat road. I've had the trailer 7 way plug and wire inspected, no problem found. Next step will be to have Ford dealer inspect truck electronics.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/06/2026

Charging system fault. Caused multiple error messages like forward camera not available, collision avoidance not available. Then radio goes black and reboots. Several cycles later the dash board goes dark. No speed or rpm anything visible for 5-10 secs, and on some reboots this dark dash lasted 30 seconds. Thankfully while traveling at midnight the head lights and tail lights remain on, just no interior lights during these reboots. New batteries made no difference.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

While flat towing my 2022 Ford f?350 behind a motorhome using Ford’s neutral tow mode procedure, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic transmission failure. The Ford dealer documented this clearly on the service invoice: “happened while the vehicle was flat towed. ” after the tow, the truck had severe slipping, delayed engagement, high rpm with no movement, and a wrench light. The dealer confirmed fault codes p0741, p1744, and p27b4. The dealer found catastrophic internal damage: “fluid is burnt with metal debris… filter is packed with metal debris… torque converter has came apart and filled transmission with metal debris… it is catastrophic failure. ” these components are available for inspection. The dealer also documented a low battery condition: “batteries. Low state of charge. ” Ford’s neutral tow mode relies on electronic control modules that require stable voltage, but Ford provides no warning that low voltage can cause the transfer case to exit neutral tow mode. This creates a safety risk because the transmission can be rotated internally without lubrication while being towed, which can lead to sudden drivetrain lockup or loss of control. The problem was confirmed by the Ford dealer, and the vehicle was fully inspected by them. The only warning symptom occurred after towing: wrench light, slipping, and no movement. There were no warnings during the tow itself. This failure mode is not disclosed by Ford and cannot be detected or prevented by the owner.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2026 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

Recall service not available right now. We have a remedy but parts are not available right now. We will inform you when the service is available. Or, you can contact your dealer. Description on your vehicle it is possible that the trailer module trm may lose communication at vehicle start-up. If a trm loss of communication occurs and a trailer is connected to the vehicle, trailer stop lamps and turn signal indicators will not function. Additionally, for trailers equipped with electronic trailer brakes, the trailer brakes will not function. This loss of communication can occur with-or-without a trailer connected to the vehicle and can only initiate at vehicle start-up. If this occurs, a trailer brake module fault notification will pop-up on the vehicles instrument panel cluster. The vehicle brake and turn signal lamps will continue to operate normally and are not affected by this trm fault. If you do not tow with your vehicle, you may wait for ota deployment for your vehicle remedy. Safety risk this may result in inoperable trailer brake lights, trailer turn signals and trailer braking functions that can reduce a drivers ability to control an attached trailer and make the trailer less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy software is available to repair your vehicle. Ford motor company has authorized your dealer to reprogram your vehicles trm free of charge. Next steps contact your dealer for more information to schedule the free service.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/07/2026

Vehicle produced symptoms over time: loss of Ford pass connectivity, inconsistent turn signal function, occasional dashboard alarm for open driver door while driving, unwarranted security alarm triggers when still at home. Second to last incident was an unwarranted security alarm that triggered, and was unable to be stopped by use of the security controls (lock/unlock, alarm key button). Horn "wore out" as if fuse burned. Disconnected battery to stop. Two days later, after reconnecting the battery I drove the vehicle, horn was not functional, and I was unable to stop the engine. Once started, the vehicle did not turn off, even with key completely removed from ignition switch. This was repeatable, every ignition cycle, thereafter. I drove to the dealer, that morning. The dealer mechanic was required to shut off the engine. Dealer mechanic diagnosed failed battery junction box. After repair, mechanic diagnosed faulty body control module. Dealer mechanic also recommended replacement of full "main" wiring harness, interconnecting the two. The cause for all failures was corrosion and electrical shorts due to water ingress. I am aware Ford has issued numerous tsbs and recalls for faulty bcms, in the same age range as this vehicle. Also, tsbs for water intrusion into the bcm. The mechanic took photos of corrosion on both the bcm and main wiring harness. My prior vehicle was a 2011 Ford f-150, with the same 6. 2l engine. No such faults were experienced up to Nov. 2023 sale. Photos of the corrosion on main wiring harness and bcm attached. Dealer has possession of the vehicle. Repairs in progress. Ford has declined support for faulty components; recalls not associated with this vehicle. Estimated repairs to date on 6 year old vehicle on critical electronics in excess of $7,000.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/24/2026

I own the 2024 f350 dually truck and regularly tow heavy trailers for commercial transport under dot regulations. I have experienced repeated intermittent failures involving the truck’s trailer brake and trailer lighting system. While towing, the truck intermittently displays warning messages on the dashboard such as “trailer brake module fault” and “trailer light module fault. ” when this occurs, the trailer’s right rear brake light stops functioning, and at times the trailer braking system stops working entirely. This issue occurs sporadically and without warning. The trailer may function normally at the start of a trip and then lose lighting or braking capability during operation. One notable pattern is that when I shut the truck off and restart it, the faults clear and the trailer brakes and lights begin working again. This suggests the issue may be related to the truck’s trailer brake or trailer lighting control module resetting rather than a defect in the trailer itself. Because of the repeated failures, I inspected and repaired my trailer multiple times. I have: replaced the affected trailer light inspected and checked all trailer wiring and connectors verified the trailer braking system and wiring integrity despite these steps, the problem continues to occur. I have taken the truck to a Ford dealership multiple times, and they have stated the issue is with the trailer. However, the trailer has been inspected and repaired, and the problem still persists. I recently became aware of a recall affecting Ford trucks related to the trailer brake control module and trailer lighting system, which appears to mirror the exact symptoms I am experiencing. This issue presents a serious safety hazard. When the malfunction occurs: trailer brake lights may not function properly trailer brakes may stop working drivers behind me may not be aware the vehicle is slowing or stopping because I regularly tow heavy trailers, loss of trailer braking and lighting creates a significant.

Failure Date: 02/11/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-350 sd. While driving at an undisclosed speed and hauling a trailer, there was a delay with the trailer brakes before the trailer brakes engaged, causing the braking distance to be extended. Occasionally, the trailer brakes failed to engage, causing the electric brakes to activate and stop the vehicle. The contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 25v132000 (electrical system) on the NHTSA. Gov website, which referenced a similar failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
